HNosegbe: If I recall correctly, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, then CBN Governor confidently told the nation that we were immune to the global economic crisis. Time has shown us how wrong he was.
I have learnt not to rely on the opinions of "experts" with regards to the state of our economy, relying instead on my personal research and observation of events around me.
Until each state develops the earning capacity such that it doesn't need oil allocations anymore, I have to disagree with Dr Nwankwo's assertion. A state that cannot fend for itself without federal allocation is not viable. Most of the politicians are not serious. We certainly and definitely don't need oil to survive. I live in a country that has no oil, and is by far above nigeria (an oily nation) in all aspects of life. Nigeria problem is people have tied their brain and thinking to oil. Even how much is that coming from oil?? How much?? Hiss. The politicians should learn from Newzealand and Austrailia and many other countries how they get a lot of money from agriculture. nigeria is a failed country. |

chmod777: Without derailing the main subject of this topic, can someone at home pls get this clear to me. I have noticed that most HEADs of key ministries and parastatals (SEC,AMCON,DMO, Revenue, Stock exchange,Power Regulatory Commission,Power ministry,Finance, etc etct are all Igbos). Were these by merit ?? , if yes , then OK, ELSE , something is wrong some where. I am Igbo from Imo, BUT I hate cheating in my life and I stand against injustice even if you were my wife or mother. Please be fair in providing info with evidence... I need to know The reason why Igbos are there is that their man is the president.During the time when the North was the president/head-of-state, it was always men from the North that occuppied the positions. That's nigeria for you. But during OBJ time, he (OBJ) tried to correct many things like that. But now the country is back to "my people's time". |

Weak national assembly is one of the key problem of the country. They don't do their oversight functions well, that's why things are upside down.
nigeria will never and ever be a great nation the way they run it.
Our solution is break up. |

Chief Awolowo did his part and did it well.

Dede1: There are certain qualities of a country that inculcate patriotism on its citizenry. In all manners of thoughts, Nigeria does not possess such qualities and even the national anthem, which is very noisy, can not make me to standup when played at certain ceremonies. In fact, the best I had wished for Nigeria is disintegration. Exactly |

Tradition leaders being religion leaders are totally incorrect.
Religion leaders should be those that are knowledgable in the religion not traditional ruler.
That's why there is council of alfas in the south.
But Sultan is a modern leader that works, relates and unites the nigerian muslims. |
