Politics / Re: Comparision Of Tinubu's Certificate To INEC Vs CSU Copy Of Other Students by jumobi1(m): 5:26am On Oct 03, 2023
I think Tinubu lost his certificate. Right before running for Lagos governor, he asked CSU for another certificate which they re-issued after checking his academic record. They re-issued and signed it in 97/98 with the 97/98 format.

I don’t know how they’ll explain the age and gender discrepancy but let’s watch and see.

Racoon:
This is one of the reason why military intervention is now a recurrent decimal in the African continent when failed leaders form defiance about their catastrophic failures as administrators of the former vassals of the colonial masters.

Imagine a monumental failure of Buhari kind-both as former military HOS and autocratic tyrant glorifying his failure and idiocy? Blame the wicked people like Bola Tinubu, Adams Oshiomhole, etc who went to resurrect a rotten bag of bone, garbed him in borrowed robes, foist him to govern a country with multi-complex problem, but ended up bastardizing it beyond repairs. Today, they are still regaling us with blame games.

I enjoy your writing style.

Patricia and Thomas are popular names. The others with different first names look like twins. (Yvonne and Yvette). Looks like the yearbook is filled with typos. Not only BATs name was misspelled.

Yearbook will come out in the next year so the url saying 1980 is very correct.

You have Spring, Summer, and Fall semester for year 1979. So if you want to capture all students considering the fact that Fall semester usually end in December, the best thing to do is to release it the next year.

I know you are an illiterate so you won't know this. Lol, so Tinubu go pay Chicago to go back in time and put his name?

Year books come out the same year. In my high school, university and law school experience, the books come out the same year we graduate not the year after. That way, students can get them and have their classmates sign them.

Politics / Re: Alvan Ikoku: Panel Indicts Okorocha Over Forceful Acquisition Of Land by jumobi1(m): 2:55am On Aug 17, 2023
StephanieBr:
Well, this news certainly raises some serious concerns about the actions of former Governor Okorocha regarding the forceful acquisition of land. If the allegations are true and substantiated by the panel's findings, it reflects a grave misuse of power and a disregard for the rights of citizens.

Land is a valuable resource, and its acquisition should always adhere to legal and ethical standards. Any attempt to forcefully take land from individuals or communities is a violation of their rights and can lead to social unrest and legal complications.

It's crucial for the justice system to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into these allegations. If Governor Okorocha is indeed found guilty of such actions, it sets a negative precedent for governance and public trust in our leaders.

I hope that the panel's report is thorough and unbiased, and that appropriate actions will be taken based on its findings. It's essential for our democracy that accountability is upheld at all levels of government.

Let's use this forum to discuss the implications of such cases on our political landscape and the measures that can be taken to prevent such abuses of power in the future.

FCT as capital represent mini Nigeria, its only logical the Man than has the majority vote and 2/3 of all states appoint the minister that preside over FCT ... makes logical sense

The electoral act have being is existence for 24yrs and suddenly some people just realized the constitution was poorly drafted because there acclaimed messiah did not win wink
FCT is not a state, buh on the bases of equity & fairness to all the daftman decided to upscale FCT as one of the states, so as not to disenfranchise the people in abuja, however they have no locus standi to claim superior

switch tables if OBi had won majority vote plus 2/3 of 36states ... will you still think the electoral act was poorly drafted becos of 25% FCT cheesy lets not fool ourselves jare

Don’t take things personal. Agbakoba, SAN raised this issue before the election. Other senior advocates are debating the issue. Yes I think it could have been drafted better.

Listen to yourself does your statement sound convincing even to you,
In a democratic settings, the only requirement to emerge winner over a state is to have Majority vote in whatever % as long as it resonate majority.

Having 25% in FCT does not resonate ACCEPTANCE from lens of democracy lets not even argue that nonsense

Democracy entails Equality and Majority,

1.superiority of FCT over other states rules out Democracy
2. Eligiblity of 25% to control FCT defiles Majority rule which is sancrosanct as well.

However, one thing is clear here, you are the one misinterpreting the electoral act, for instance ikeja is the capital of lagos imagine not declaring sanwo olu winner becos he lose ikeja LcA sho make sense wink

I asked a question, IF you say the president doubles as governor of FCT then what does Minister of FCT stand for ??

Good point regarding 25% and democracy. Regarding the Minister, who elected the Minister? Definitely not the people since the appointer didn’t even score 25% of the votes in the FCT.
The truth is that our constitution was poorly drafted.

You people should rest, Abuja alone cannot be a determined factor for presidential election victory.

Abuja alone is not a deciding factor. You don’t even need to win Abuja.
25% in 24 states,
25% in Abuja (maybe), and
Most votes overall are all factors.
Politics / Re: PEPT: Bola Tinubu Claims In His Final Written Address That He Got 25% In FCT by jumobi1(m): 10:10pm On Jul 14, 2023
It’s written that way to buttress their point that 25% in 24+ states alone satisfies that constitutional requirement.

Over an issue that lacks jurisdiction? The statute of limitation says 10 years from conviction, if any? Same issue that was thrashed in 2002? This KanwuliaExtra, you will never learn, keep deceiving yourself.

So what happens when one violates the constitution by running for and winning governorship in 1999, less than 10 years after conviction? Ignorance is not an excuse. Should he be allowed to benefit from his time as governor and use it to run for a higher office or should he be barred from running for any other public office?

it is not necessarily his naturalization but him renouncing his Nigerian citizenship, renouncing your citizenship means you are not a Nigerian anymore, Abi does renouncing have two meaning.

I think voluntarily acquiring US citizenship isn’t enough to renounce Nigerian citizenship by birth. One has to formally file an application to renounce citizenship by birth.

Now I know why Nigeria is suffering from bad leadership because the constitution denied those with experience of what good governance is from contesting election in Nigeria.

Nigerians who are citizens of other countries should be allowed to contest and contribute their quota to the development of this country.

A Kenyan man name the Barack Obama who ruled the United States of America

Today an Indian is the prime minister of the United kingdom.

Nigerians have been elected mayors and counselors in different parts of the world.

Yet in Nigerian who is also a citizen of other countries is not allowed to contest election in Nigeria and this is the reason we are where we are today.

This is also the reason the wrong people overwhelmed with corruption and criminality voted into power even when the have nothing to offer.

they should allow the guy to contribute his quota to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria in general.

Mr President should do something about this useless constitution that doesn't favour those with renewal ideas to contribute to the importance to the development of Nigeria.

Obama wasn’t a Kenyan citizen as president. The UK Prime Minister Sunak isn’t an Indian citizen. They were both born in the countries they led. Dual citizenship poses a Security/loyalty issue.

I think the Nigerian constitution is poorly written though. One should clearly have to renounce voluntarily acquired citizenship before occupying certain leadership positions.

buchilla:
U are absolutely wrong and confused. The election did not only take place in Northwest. BAT won in 12 states of the federation according to INEC. If we have only 4 strong candidate in a presidential election and 3 candidates won in about 11 states each out of the 36 States. It will be impossible for the other Candidate who won in just one state to score the highest number of votes. He can get over 25% votes in more than 24 states. I'm talking of getting the highest number of votes which is the first requirement to be declared the winner of the presidential election. If BAT had won in just one state, it would have been impossible for him to score the highest number of votes. This is a simple arithmetic .

It’s possible to win just one state and have the highest votes overall and perhaps subsequently win in a runoff.

Let’s say an election has 60 voters equally distributed amongst States X, Y & Z (20 each). States X, Y & Z are the only States in the country and the Candidates are A, B and C.

RESULTS

State X
A:10
B:9
C:1

State Y
A: 1
B: 9
C: 10

State Z
A: 8
B: 7
C: 5

Guess who has the most votes but won the zero states? B.
A won the most States though(2).

In a runoff between A (winner of most states) and B (highest total votes), previous C voters may now vote for B who will then be declared winner.
