Politics / Re: Tinubu's Alleged Dual Passport, ; Section 28, Section 137 The CFRN by jumobi1(m): 6:10am On Apr 17, 2023
In order to become a citizen of a country, you usually have to pledge allegiance to that country. Consequently, being a dual citizen could be enough to disqualify a person from the office of President.

Consulates issue passports too. What you are looking at is Place of Birth. BTW I’m not implying that the passport is real.

Politics / Re: Which States And Areas Was Obi Rigged Out? by jumobi1(m): 4:05pm On Apr 07, 2023
Stop asking questions with a closed mind. This is Nigeria. Elections are never fair. If they were fair, no one would have gotten 25% in 24+ States. The results in some states just make no sense. We had issues of people not being able to get their voters card. We have polling units were elections weren’t held. We have units were boxes were snatched. We had issues of people being threatened to stay at home. All of these amounts to rigging.
I don’t understand how a well meaning Nigerian will say there wasn’t rigging. Just wait for the court to decide and move on from there.

Should they have rigged for him? A lot of Nigerians don’t understand true democracy. Tinubu is old, has a questionable background, helped one of the worst presidents in Buhari win election, and OBJ was president from 99-07. Of course South Easterners were going to strongly support Obi. If you think SE should be “punished” for their decision then Nigeria isn’t ready to grow.

I agree. Amongst the 3 major candidates, Obi seems the smartest and more honest though. In their prime, BAT would be the smartest. It’s unfortunate for Nigerians that these 3 were our Top candidates. We excel outside Nigeria but struggle inside. Even look at Lagos. The best candidate, Mr. Doherty was ignored.

So who is the religious bigot now?

Not sure how that makes him a bigot. He probably felt a Northen Muslim candidate would get him more votes so he went with that. That’s just the reality of politics in the North. He did what he felt he had to do. It was a gamble.

Just my opinion.

This is bad. Concluding that it’s a religious war only because it was a Muslim/Muslim ticket is a very dangerous accusation. It can turn out to be true but I don’t see how he has enough info to draw such a conclusion when he did. P.O suddenly seems like a dangerous and desperate man to me…(unless he is proven right)

Politics / Re: The Simplest Way To Explain The FCT 25% Debate by jumobi1(m): 6:20am On Apr 01, 2023
Spy360:

There are a lot of flaws here.

1. 'And' does not mean inclusive, it means both objects are distinct and carry equal statuses. Rice and Beans can also mean Beans and Rice. Now take this and apply to the constitution. Flip it...

25% in the FCT and two thirds of the states of the Federation

What did you understand?

2. FCT is not in the North Central as you claim. It exist alone as a separate entity.

3. FCT carries a special status because it is the constituency of the President and Head of State. The president is the administrative head of the FCT. The National Assembly is the legislative arm of the FCT. That's special status.

4. Section 299 of the constitution says FCT should be treated like it was a state. Means that it is not a state but should have access to all the benefits of other states. If I say, treat the boy like he was your child. It does not mean the boy is your child.

The beans and rice explanation makes a lot of sense👏🏾.

God bless you. This is the question people should be asking and not twisting English language.

Femi Falana is a well respected lawyer and he is the one misguiding other people and giving room to unnecessary arguments.

Mr Falana himself has said that his reason is emotional and not logical. The court will not or should not be emotional but logical.

That 25% clause was not in the previous constitution. It was added in 1999 amendment. It is for a reason.

25% was there in the previous constitution. “And the FCT” wast there because Lagos was the capital.
At the end of the day, it can go either way because it can be argued either way. The justices that’ll decide are human beings.

Apologies for what? Those who were making threats and attacking Igbos and non yorubas in Lagos during the last election should be identified and dealt with. I support Iwuanyanwu 100%.

Mc Oluomo was threatening and making derogatory statements, a police officer had to come to his defence. What did Afenifere, Tinubu and Sanwo Olu say about that? Did they condemn and distance themselves from his cowardly rhetorics?

It’s time various Igbo groups come together and deal with the rascals threatening peace in Nigeria.

Call Iwuanyanwu what you like...it’s the first time I’ve supported an Igbo leader like this

For wrongly or unintentionally generalizing. If he meant to say Oluomo is a rascal then he should clarify and be specific. I doubt he meant to insult Yorubas in OBJs presence but it can be construed as an insult. If he doesn’t clarify then he’s giving ill intentioned politicians the fuel they need to burn and divide Nigeria.

You think Obi is stupid! What is essence of presenting CTC of Tinibu's drug pushing case. By presenting it a document, a witness to that document is needed meaning US government will send one of theirs to testify. I don't want to envisage Nigerian's image/reputation in the outside world after such case.

Okay Nwanne.

Are you that swallow, Obi wants to unmask Tinibu. Don't you get it that the new elected president of Nigeria is a drug dealer that is what he wants the whole world to know. This case can't be thrashed without being adjudicated upon because Tinibu's lawyers will gladly want to prove that he is not a drug dealer thereby opening the case for deliberation. If he is found guilty he will be disqualified, because he is under sentence.

He can’t be tried for it unless you have new evidence.

Maybe the provision is as is to ensure no more than 40% of their executive officers are from Igbo states. If 80% of the traders/voters are Igbos perhaps they’ll almost always overwhelmingly elect Igbos as executive officers.

If the provision is to serve any other purpose then I don’t think it’s a good idea.

In my opinion, at the end of the day, the court can decide either way.

Why should the FCT be given special treatment? Is the fact that the FCT doesn’t have a Governor and HOA enough reason to require a President score at least 25% when the he/she has already attained it in 25 other states? In other parts of the constitution involving the text “States in the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja”, is the FCT given special treatment or treated equally?

The more I read the constitution, the more uncertain I am. Lol

You need to address Section 299 as well to reach a conclusion.
I also wonder if the interpretation would differ without THE?? “To be declared winner of a presidential election, you must win 25% of total votes in 2/3 of states and the FCT”

Abuja is part of the elected government and that is why their Minister essentially acts as Governor who is appointed by the winner of the election. So Abuja is an attachment to the winner of these elections and is essentially a state being governed by them as well as the country. We are the ones determining Abuja’s governance, not the other way around.

Fair points.

Lmaooo. That makes no sense at all. A Nigerian even in the creek is as equal as a Nigerian in Abuja. So there is no distinguishing and elevating anybody’s vote because they live in the Federal Capital. Does not happen anywhere in the world. Failed campaign and waste of money.

It is simple and basic logic. Because you people go bonkers at very simple things because of very low IQ.

You’re right that we are all equal. Does the FCT have gubernatorial elections? It’s more complex than what you believe. Let the courts decide.

The obidients are headless mob truly, they can believe anything the more it will give hope to an utopian Obi presidency. Even if they can't comprehend the constitutional 25% in 2/3 of 36 states and FCT, at least they should apply common sense and logic, so if a candidate wins in all the 36 states he can't still be declared president because he couldn't get 25% of Abuja votes? And the funny thing is that their vice presidential candidate is harping on this as the reason why Tinubu shouldnt have been declared president elect. Datti is really a daft

In that case, there will be a runoff and the contestant would likely win. In a runoff, the 25% rule is no longer in play.

So in your own view, do you think its a strong case or not

possibility of DEA OR FBI testifying in court...that too, at the tribunal

It’s not a strong case because to bar a person from presidential eligibility, there needs to be a conviction of the person. I don’t understand your second question. Nigeria can’t try Tinubu for that matter though. I don’t see the DEA or FBI testifying. We can’t convict Tinubu in Nigeria over that matter. If they can submit documents to prove Tinubu was convicted then they should or would have already.
