Hi, forgive me for digressing from the topic, but do you propose to fund your studyby study grant, scholarship or anything of such. If yes, can you please give information on them cos i also have an an MA admission in UK. |
sw2soufldn:Oh please don't break my heart I already have an admission in a University in UK and am desperately searching for a scholarship. @Rare: I've already contacted the British Council in Abuja and they say the chevening scholarship forms are not yet out. Do you have any other suggestions please? |
Why don't you go to the Swedish embassy to find out the requirements and take it there. You could even contact the school for help advice etc. All the best! |
@Zion: I also have an admission in Surrey. Please tell me how are you going about the processing of your visa. Are you using ony of these educational consultancy services? And most importantly, i need information of sources of funding that one can apply to. |
Now I'm kinda confused. I also have an admission and I was thinking of contacting BETTA to help with procuring the visa. Are you guys saying that it's better to just go it alone? |
@pmdaboh God bless you for giving him such solid advice. @poster While you're rueing over the many words of advice, please do the girl a favour and leave her while she still has time to get another young man. |
OlowoTee:I thinks that's the best advice you could ever get, 'cept don't stifle creativity and originality on your employees' part. You need to allow them space to use their own initiative. |
@Ndipe: I take it then that you don't believe in destiny? Or you just want to hate Toure so much for the role he played that you don't want to think its destiny? It's pointless raising emotions over the actions of a man that's dead and buried. |
If you really think you love her, then go ahead and tell her. Who knows, she just might like you too. |
@Sean25: Very very nice. But why did you wait until after university to tell her? Things might have turned out differently between you two. Maybe |
No I'm not castigating Camara. Neither I'm I castigating Marie- that's my beef with Orikinla. Human beings are wont to trade blames. In this case,no one's to blame. Things went their destined ways, period. |
@Orikinla: Being a muslim is not an excuse for marrying several wives. My father is an Alhaji and he has only one. There's no where it is written in the Quran that as a muslim you must marry four wives. It's a general misconception. That said, Marie would have wanted to comfort Camara during his illness, she was incarcerated, remember? On whose account? The husband. Or is it a crime to love your father, your progenitor, the one who took care of you, raised you and trained you to become the person that your spouse fell in love with? All she did was love her father so much she risked her life to go and see him when his health failed him. Is that a crime? Since when did that translate to heartbreaking? |
@Aisha2: Hi! Thumbs up to you for deciding to marry that guy. I'm sure you'll be happy with him. Gamine:What will or will not work is relative to the individual. Some people will never learn to solve mathematics, some will. Some people will never learn to tolerate people from other religions, some will. Simple! |
At the risk of seeming to support Seun(which is the last thing I would ever want to do), permit me to say that in this case I think he's right. Perhaps religions weren't originally designed to unite followers of one against the other but we cannot not deny that in most cases now, that is what is happening. Devout Christians firmly believe Muslims will go to hellfire, and vice-versa. Tell me, what could be more divisive than that? As for me, if the guy scales through every other point except religion, believe me sincerely I would disregard that one. What's the guarantee that I'll be happy if I marry someone of the same religion with me? |
@sirgai: Please tell me, how does one get into concept development for movies and other productions? I'm interested in that. |
@Ndipe: That word big o no be small. Are u another Soyinka in the making? I did click on the picture but the literature's in French! @Penfold: Love still remains the greatest , most awesome and wonderful feeling one could ever experience. The joy of being in love is far greater than any kind of pain it could bring. So please don't steel your heart. Don't miss out on the best thing in life. |
When did Zirra Maigadi become a Yoruba name? Nwayz, that's not the issue. @poster Hope you're not trying to incite another Niger-Delta crisis here 'cos we need all the peace we can get in this country right now. It's no secret that oil companies always give preference to indigenes of oil producing areas when recruiting. Why doesn't that bother you? |
@Ndipe discombobulated? Na wa o!!!!! @Topic Having studied African Child during my literature classes in secondary school, I know the book almost like the back of my hand- and I feel like I know the author as well. Although I didn't know that in real life, he ended up marrying the Marie he talked about in the book. She no doubt must have loved him very much as well. And what a price to pay for love; seven years imprisonment for your husband's sake! Our elders say it's not good to speak ill of the dead so I will not castigate Camara Laye here for marrying a second wife. In anycase, I don't think it has anything to do with his being a muslim. He probably was going through some measure of emotional vulnerability at that time that made him succumb. Well, he's made his impact in life, that's why we can still talk about him so many years after his death. May his soul rest in peace. I hope the children are doing fine? |
A psychologist friend of mine carried out a research on this topic for his thesis. The result: 90% of co-habitation cases DO NOT RESULT in marriage. |
Seun: Seun:Haba, Seun! Since you asked us for our honest opinions u should at least have the good grace to hear it. Or you don get beef witj omogenaija before. Na wa for you o. You're indeed acting like a , ![]() |
oyb:Very true! Even though her nagging can be very tiring, try to cope with it. It's a good idea for all of you to come together and talk to her about it, suggest other ways you think she should explore to get the same message across. If that doesn't work, appeal to elderly people she respects in the family to help you talk to her. That should drive home to her the point that although you love her, you simply can't take the way she shouts. All the best, and please don't hate her, she's only human. |
@ Seun: Wow!!! Sure you didn't expect the whole diatribe this thread has evoked(looking at the posts); or maybe you did. In any case here's my own two cents(apologies to owner of the ID): I've never been banned, so I don't know the feeling. But I've had my posts annoyingly and unilaterally edited without any form of explanation. I find that extremely annoying. If you have a beef with someone's post, you should say it in your own post instead of editing the person's post just because you can. I don't know about the success people say you have; do you like own a mansion in Egba, or ride a Hummer jeep or what? If it's the success of nairaland as a forum, don't you think the individual members have as much a stake in that as the 'owner'. It won't be a succesful forum if you don't have us. You can't run a forum all alone, no man is an island. You need us to join, to post etc. SO dear 'gracious and merciful owner of the land', try and put things in the proper perspective. All said, kudos to you for even starting the thread. It's not easy to sit and hear people say all sorts about you. |
Well, do all international students have to do menial jobs in UK? |
@Arike: what sort of materials, documentaries or programmes? Here's how it works: for licences, you go to the NBC( that's National Broadcast Commission),for airtime you approach the t.v. stations who themselves have obtained licence from the NBC to broadcast. Now, for locally sourced programmes, documentaries etc, you don't need a licence, all you need is enough money to buy airtime or enough goodwill with the powers that be in any given t.v. station. Goodwill is more affordable 'cos a single 30mins slot on AIT and NTA network costs over 500, 000. For foreign broadcast materials however, you need waivers from both the source abroad and I think our own regulatory body as well( though I'm not entirely sure of the local waiver-if it's truly necessary i.e) @Seun: u didn't really think I'd end this without a few words for you,did you? Stop editing my postings like God almighty!!!! |
@Dis Guy: nope! I'm certainly not a celebrity, lol. @Arike: I work in the industry, how can I help you? |
@Seun: really? I thought it was a shooting forum. arike77:Doesn't that tell you he/she's kind of wary of posting the details?? Relax admin, I don't have any skeleton in my cupboard. It's just that I can help but that doesn't mean I want to display my identity. You should know that people in the broadcast media tend to have the same privacy issues actors and actresses have. |
@post: ask yourself, where do you want to be in 3 years? That should give you an idea of what to you need to get there. I personally think that MBA is getting too common. Do you what will set you apart from the crowd. What will make employers fall over themselves for your services. Can someone please tell me where to go for good project management courses in Nigeria? And tell me, is it solely for finance majors? |
@Arike: Hi, is it something you can talk about here? |
Ok, let's use you and I for example; how many brands of iodized salt can you readily name? |
With the way NAFDAC is canvassing the use of iodized salt, I think people are beginning to pay attention to the kind of salt they consume. And don't forget that the Annapurna (salt) is manufactired by Dangote. |
Can someone please advice on which fund manager to use. I like the weekly report that Futureview gives but they seem to be limiting their services to high net worth individuals. I understand Cashcraft is quite slow in responding to emails and stuff, and that's the most convenient way to communicate now. Some others like Northbridge, who also seem to be efficient don't like to hear amounts like 50k, 100k. SO where can i open an account with as little as 50k and still get quality, efficient service and profits? |
@Egoldman & Frank: what do you say about the salt, do you think dangote salt has serious competition? |
