For example, your deposit 1000 cedis in your bank and in return bank will give you cedis . 40 as interest at the end of one year (4% per annum ) For simple calculation and understanding i have taken only saving bank deposit here.

These 1000 cedis bank will give to other customers as a Loan and will charge 120 (12% Per annum).

Here cedis . 40 is the cost of bank and cedis 120 is revenue and the difference which is ghc 80 is the Income or you can say operating profit for the bank.
