Incase you are not aware, Nigerians already had political parties and general election that elected representative into the legislative council in 1923.

That was way before Ghana's legislative council election that latter allowed unofficial member to head the legislative council in 1949 not autonomy.

It continued like that until Nkuruma became the leader of business council after the 1951 legislative assembly elections. Nkrurmah's retitling to Prime minister after Arden-Clarke the cabinet chairman resigned had not given him additional power nor Ghana autonomy. That was the main reason he sought for constitutional reform that latter lead to independence.

Unlike, The three regions that already gained self rule or autonomy in 1953 though formally in 1957, which vested them political power.

Ghana had it first elective council in the late 1800s ( i dont remember the specific year)

the imposition of certain laws led to the formation of the Aborigines Rights protection Society
