MtuMsuper: Akwaaba to this thread. Now,may i ask you to weigh in with regard to the actual title of the thread. Your contribution is welcome I've not been to Nigeria and I've not been to Kenya. But Kenya would be my first east African country to visit . I can't judge from the internet but I find Nairobi to be more livable considering how I live my life and how I want it to be. |

Instead the government will use the media to manipulate the minds and turn imbèciles like you into glorified Putin bots your dumbness is admirable. Which country can you mention to have only government own media? There are enough media houses in even Russia to make the government own media houses negligible. Just try traveling out of your country and you will realised that the rest of the world is not like your country. It's the media duty to get the news out it's the duty of the citizenry to criticize their government So it's not the media that criticize the government but the citizenry Get your head together |

MtuMsuper: I see. So i can surmise there is a class/social dynamic that fits into a map where regional disparities closely mirror ethnic realities? yes, Two regions in this country vote on a line that look ethnic but is not when you look at the facts from the history of those regions and the party. How the party is constituted |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Just30: 4:54pm On Jan 02, 2017 |
Legonviking: Whiles parties are not based on ethnic lines,it is an undeniable fact that Npp gets over 70% of votes from Ashanti region and NDC also getting over 70% of votes from the Volta region NPP gets 30% of it votes from the Ashanti region then it always wins the Eastern Region with a comfortable lead , NDC gets 30% of it votes the Volta Region and then it get to win the three northern regions by a comfortable vote lead. The remaining regions determines who wins the elections. But this year, the demographic has changed to a large extend Whiles 70% -80% of general voters are party base voters and the remaining 20%-30% are floating voters , university and secondary school graduate voters mostly tends to vote for the NPP . The NDC gets majority of it's votes from the uneducated voter class as well as the Zongo communities |

MtuMsuper: But NDC struggles for votes in Ashanti and western regions mostly. Elsewhere it wins hands down especially in Volta region dominated by Ewes. That's what i meant. So what 4 regions are these.( errr,,, Sorry folks for diverting ) NDC strong hold is the Volta region, NPP strong hold is the Ashanti region. The Western, Greater Accra, Brong Ahafo and Central Regions are Swing regions anyone who wins all four or even three wins the presidency if it is split then there would have to be a second round |

MtuMsuper: I think he's avoiding the real question. I have been on nairaland long enough to know that the party of buhari APC rode to victory on a wave of support from majority Hausa Fulani areas in the north and Yoruba SW. The same thing exists in Ghana where Akufo Addo's party while not exclusively Ashanti, derives the majority of its support there. I follow African politics to minute details. This regional and tribal ganging up is the bane of us Africans, its only CCM in Tanzania that i can immediately name as an exception to regional or tribal based politics. sorry but you are wrong with your assessment of political parties in Ghana. Parties formation in Ghana are not based on ethnic lines. They're extremely complex and you don't get to win an election without winning in certain four regions. Political parties everywhere, have their strong holds where no matter what the opposition does; they won't win an election there. |
Investment › Re: Ponzi Scheme, MMM Blamed For Financial Misery In Ghana by Just30: 2:20pm On Jan 02, 2017 |
maximunimpact: Many people in Ghana have lost money by investing in a Russian-backed Ponzi scheme which promises huge profits. The scheme, the Marvodi Mondial Movement or MMM, was introduced in Ghana after it freezed in Nigeria.
Ghana’s financial sector is currently struggling to recover from a major financial crisis involving Ponzi investment schemes. Millions of Ghanaians have been denied access to their savings after investing in micro-finance companies. They had been promised huge returns on their capital over a short period of time, but now they’re pleading with Ghanaian President John Mahama for a refund of their investments.
“Many people are dead and many are on their sick bed, because of this money [scandal]. It’s not easy for us, Mr. President. Pay our money to us because the Bank of Ghana is under you,” said businessman Haruna Seidu.
These schemes were at the center of the presidential election campaign in Ghana. The incoming New Patriotic Party government has promised to reimburse all who have lost money with these investments. Ghana’s central bank has also revised its rules to discourage such Ponzi schemes in future. Its deputy governor Johnson Asiamah said they were also receiving help from Germany on how to better protect small investors.
Many Ghanaians want the government of President John Mahama, or his successor, to pay them compensation for the money they have lost
“With the passage of the Ghana deposit protection bill, I am happy to inform you that the Bank of Ghana in collaboration with the German government will soon establish a deposit protection system in Ghana for the first time in our history, This will ensure protection for small depositors and enhance the safety of the financial system,” said Asiamah.
New scheme
Reports of a new investment scheme called the Marvodi Mondial Movement have recently emerged under which clients are proimsed a return of 30 percent in less than a month.
The Russian-owned scheme been banned in some African countries including Nigeria. Financial analyst Osei Amankwah says it should be thoroughly investigated.
“The bank of Ghana shouldn’t allow this to cascade. Obviously if it was bad for Nigeria, it’s not going to be any good for Ghana,” he said.
The Marvodi Mondial Movement said on Twitter that their scheme in Ghana was a simple system in which a community of voluntary members provide and receive help. However, some Ghanaians are wary of these schemes.
“I would not be interested in it because I am afraid of losing my money at the end,” said Bernice Asiedu, a resident of Accra.
The Marvodi Mondial Movement isn’t officially licensed to operate in Ghana and officials have said that they will launch a probe into the group.

Paentera: Take a look at this analysis and understand why it is easier for Ghana to have constant supply:
Progressively Expensive (Electricity Company of Ghana) N1,292.53 - Cost of 50 kWh (Electricity Company of Ghana) N25.81/kWh N4,062.04 - Cost of 100 kWh (Electricity Company of Ghana) N40.62/kWh N9,409.31 - Cost of 200 kWh (Electricity Company of Ghana) N47.05/kWh
http://www.ecgonline.info/index.php/customer-care/services/tariff.html
Pay As You Go N1,065.00 - Cost of 50 kWh (Ikeja Electric, Lagos) N21.30/kWh N2,130.00 - Cost of 100 kWh (Ikeja Electric, Lagos) N21.30/kWh N4,260.00 - Cost of 200 kWh (Ikeja Electric, Lagos) N21.30/kWh
What this analysis shows us is a cost reflective tariff in Ghana which means cost of all inputs are paid for by the tariff with no need for subsidies. In other words, Ghana's electricity industry pays for itself. In the case of Nigeria (which has the cheapest electricity tariffs in the world), the tariffs cannot adequately pay for the value provided by the whole chain from generation - transmission - distribution, hence leading to shortages. To cut the story short, tariffs set in Nigeria in 2015 (at N198/$1) are not enough to pay for the value created in the industry at the current rate of $309/$1 meaning that gas companies (who sell gas in $$) find it profitable to sell their products internationally where they get full payment than to the Power industry that cannot pay for its products.
If we have 40,000MW capacity but cost reflective tariffs are not introduced to the industry or as an alternative, tariffs subsidized (very inefficient & abuse prone) by the government, there will still be issues in the Power sector. Now I understand why NNPC did so much lobbying to win a 10years LNG supply contract with our VRA in Ghana |

Count and comare their jets, submarines, war ships, .Have you heard about the world "MAD" which stand for "mutually assured distruction" When two nuclear capable countries are fighting both are surely going to harm each other. Russia will be able to destroy US under 24hrs by nuclear weapons ? Can't US do the same to them.In fact Russian ammunition are obsolete they only threaten with their Nuclear weapons because that's the only fearful thing they can threaten with.US has nuclear weapons that are still potent for decades without heavy servicing all in underground silos unlike Russia that needs to service theirs every decade. They have B2 Spirit bomber jet for nuclear bombing by air,the look of that jet alone is trilling. They have submarines that are nuclear capable. It means if Russia attacks them by Nuclear bombs they have three means air, land and water to retaliate.
Do your research US has the best fighter jet in the world ,the F-22 Raptor operational and continuously upgraded since 2005 na now Russia still dey struggle with theirs or is it the new one they co-sponsored to build with mostly NATO countries the F-35 lightning II.Have you heard about the Toma-Hawk bomb with great precision. Is it their newly upgraded anti missile defence system called "THAAD" that neutralise 98% of incoming missiles.Do you know how many air craft carriers warship US has compare it with the others. In fact the only country that have even used the nuclear bomb in war is the US ,talking about the weaker bomb ,the atomic bomb in the second world war.It was dropped in two cities in Japan,Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I have heard Obama before addressing the press ,he starts with "as president of the most powerful nation in the world" He isn't really joking.Even Putin admitted it this year.
However nuclear bomb is the worst thing that humans has ever built. It has the power to end the human race. It's an ugly weapon. No country should have it at all it's evil The US hasn't fought any real war. Russia under it's various evolutionary dispensation has fought more than three 3 world super powers and won against them. Despite on all occasion, being the under dog |

narttis1: Call him what you may; a soothsayer, a pastor, a politician on a pulpit, or a prophet of doom. Isaac Owusu Bempah, founder and leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International continues to dominate the headlines in Ghana, often for reasons other than right.
The pastor, who has courted controversy in Ghana for several years appears to have a trigger that sparks such discussions about him.
The 31st of December 2016 was one such day he decided to make use of that trigger.
As is now custom at his church, hundreds of Ghanaians showed up for a 'taste of what to expect' in 2017 and Rev Owusu Bempah was sure to stay the course of not disappointing.
However, some of his utterances on new year's eve seem to have gotten Ghanaians more worried than excited.
The controversial man of God is predicting the deaths of a former president, a former first lady as well as a 'great king' in Ghana.
He's also predicting a terrorist attack in the country, a coup d'etat as well as more clashes between Christians and Muslims in the country.
The prophecies, though intriguing to the several who hear them, have left many pondering what really a 2017 Ghana will look like. But Rev Owusu Bempah could not be bothered about how his prophecies are interpreted. His message is simple: Pray to avert them.
As you engage in the debate of how accurate Rev Owusu Bempah's predictions are, have been and will continue to be in the future, here are 17 prophecies to mull over for the next 12 months.
- Death of a former president
- Death of a former first lady
- Coup d'etat in Ghana
- Death of Nigeria's president
- Terrorist attack in Ghana ADVERTISEMENT
- Death of several young men and women
- Important personalities in parliament will die
- Many people will be kidnapped
- Innocent blood will be shed in a particular political party
- Increase in occult practices
- Americans will go for war
- More Muslim/Christian clashes this year
- A great king will die
