Sabasi: https://nigeriacircle.com/india-2-nigerians-1-ghanaian-held-for-dealing-cocaine/ NIGERIACIRCLE.COM Bengaluru: Two Nigerians and one Ghanaian were arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on drug peddling charges in two separate cases in the city.
In the first incident, two persons identified as Ernest Ugah, 38, a Ghana national, and Fernand Ubah, 36, a Nigerian, were arrested while trying to sell cocaine in Hennur in East Bengaluru. The police seized 20 grams of cocaine, three mobiles, a two-wheeler worth Rs 1.5 lakh from them.
Police said the duo, residents in Hennur area, had come to India on a business visa and began peddling drugs. A case has been registered against them at Hennur police station.
In the second incident, a Nigerian national identified as Madu Abukwu Ubaka, 28, a resident of Hennur, was held along with 180 LSD papers and 19 MDMA tablets. Police also seized a laptop, tablet, two mobile phones, his two-wheeler.
Police said that Ubaka had come to India on a business visa.
We wish to observe that while Ernest Ugah is listed as a Ghanaian as he must apparently have entered India with a Ghanaian passport, his name would seem to suggest he is also a Nigerian. WHAT DO YOU THINK?. https://nigeriacircle.com/india-2-nigerians-1-ghanaian-held-for-dealing-cocaine/ sorry he's not Ghanaian. ernest might be holding a Ghanaian passport but he does not exist as a citizen. |

Goahead: Having been to Ghana, I must commend their level of backwardness. Major roads that links major cities in Ghana are single carriage!! Like what the fvck? Imagine traveling from Accra to Tamale on a bus, where you'd be sharing a sizeable carriage with loads of trucks coming in from Burkina Faso.?? That's horrific to say the least. Rip young man, your government killed you!! do you even have brains? who would build a super six lane highway for just a thousand vehicle to ply in a year |

seggie: I am really disappointed in Martin CraigHead, Baker Hughes Incorporated and Baker Hughes company Ltd. I see no reason why an international oil servicing coy who obeys the US laws and other International Labour Organisation laws will come to Nigeria and flagrantly disobey the laws of the land with a single aim to Cheat and Kill Nigerians. We won't accept this rubbish. Enough is Enough. Pls pay our redundancy and get lost!!! it just a matter of a court case, why the gra gra? |
Career › Re: Aggrieved Ex-baker Hughes Employees Protest In Enugu, Demand N12b Entitlements by Just30: 8:44pm On Feb 12, 2017 |
mesoprogress: Christopher Isiguzo in Enugu
About 400 aggrieved ex-employees of Baker and Hughes, the third largest multi-national oil servicing company in Nigeria on Friday staged a peaceful protest at the premises of the National Industrial Court Enugu where they are challenging their unlawful disengagement by the company.
The protesting ex-workers are demanding for their entitlements said to be worth a whooping N12 billion from the company.
The protesters carrying placards, chanted slogans against the companyand its Chief Executive Officer, Martin Craighead, insisting that theirdisengagement did not comply with existing labour laws in Nigeria.
Some of the placards they displayed read: ‘Baker and Hughes, How many more deaths Pay us while we are alive’, ‘Martin Craighead, slave master’, ‘Baker and Hughes pay us our money’, ‘Baker and Hughes, pay us like Congo, Gabon, Chad and Ghana’, ‘Baker and Hughes is nepotism’.
Briefing journalists outside the courtroom, George Ogara, counsel to the claimants/plaintiffs, said they were asking Baker and Hughes to pay them their adequate severancepackages.
Ogara said they were also asking for the post employment medical benefits as operated in other African countries in the same Geo-market with Nigeria, such as Congo, Gabon, Chad and Ghana.
He regretted that while workers disengaged by the company in the other African countries were adequately compensated with redundant allowances, Baker and Hughes treated those in Nigeria like slaves, not minding the position of Nigeria as the head of the Geo-market.
Ogara regretted that 15 of the disengaged workers have died and their widows are suffering, adding that they were asking that their entitlements be paid to them.
Earlier yesterday, hearing on the suit brought before the National Industrial Court Enugu by the ex-employees against the company was stalled, following the plea by the defendants’ counsels for more time to enable them to resolve issues over their representation as well as file their reply to the suit.
Ogara, the counsel to the claimants/plaintiffs had asked the court to allow him to proceed with his motion on notice as it appears that the respondents were not opposing it.
The motion is seeking among others for an order to restrain General Electrics from acquiring Baker and Hughes or ensuring that the ex-employees were paid their benefits (totaling about N12 billion) before the acquisition.
However, one of the respondent counsels, Ismail Muftau told the court that he has not received the processes for the motion on notice fixed for the day.
Muftau who appeared alongside Ayoade Oluwasammi for the defense, later admitted that he only sighted the processes from one of his colleagues in the defense and asked for time to reply to it when served.
But, Ogara told the court that the claimants were in a hurry and that the defendants were bidding for more time to destroy the res (subject matter) in the case.
In his ruling, Justice Auwal Ibrahim said the matter has to be adjourned to enable service to all the parties and to allow the two lawyers to the defendants to resolve issues about the particular defendants that they are representing.
Justice Ibrahim adjourned the matter to March 10th for the hearing of the motion.
Speaking with journalists after the court sitting, Ogara said they were asking for justice for 219 ex-employees of Baker and Hughes, who are among the 1000 who were declaredredundant and sent home without benefits. But, Muftau who equally spoke with journalists outside the courtroom, dismissed the claim of the ex-employees, saying that they collected severance benefits and returned to court thereafter to ask for more.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/02/12/aggrieved-ex-bakerhughes-employees-protest-in-enugu-demand-n12b-entitlements/ What does your labour laws say? Is it binding on companies to pay compensation to workers in case of a disengagement? |

Politics › Re: Naira Exchange Rate To Other African Currencies by Just30: 8:06pm On Feb 08, 2017 |
Danielnino00: Some of the countries you listed have devalued their currency eg. Ghana./The Ghana cedi used to exchange for about 1000 cedi to the naira. Even Zimbabwe doar used to exchange for 1,000,000,000 to 1 dollar(so I learnt)
Some of the countries too don't do much importing like Nigeria, hence their currency is strong. Nigeria imports almost everything.
The naira is still stronger than some African countries currency ,but it's losing its value faster. Get your facts right It's revaluation not devaluation |

Their laws favor the women, especially the married once. this is the only african country i'm aware of that when a couple gets divorced, the woman is entitled to half (if not everything) of the man's property. don't marry, if you feel you can't keep your marriage working. The law is there to protect the efforts of women in marriages. Onlike the Nigerian society that has no respect to women |

TheGoodJoe, its like you dnt know these Ghanaians. If they had won this AFCON u would have seen how they would have trooped here and start insulting Nigerians, from our Government to our populace and to our players. They would want to rubbish this thread.
Ghana was my second favorite team, after Nigeria. I stopped supporting them after the prolonged battles at kick-off Nigeria and Kick-off Ghana. When the sites were closed down we trooped down to nairaland and the bashing continued . Although I had always been on nairaland even before joining Kickoff. I know their monikers very well. I dnt want to give any mention here. The way that guy was throwing insults yesterday here shows they have still not grown up.
I am glad Ghana is out period. and you think Majority of Ghanaians are not glad? |

Ugosample: Yes indeed.
But Anas did something some time back to expose your judiciary
What do you have to say about that? You mean magistrates and a few high court judges. They are all out of the system and some of the cases they handled over a particular period of time will be reviewed on a case by case basis. It called continuous monitoring of people in authority Check the US justice system, there are huge corruption there but their citizens still believe in it and that's the difference. |

Any African leader who commits war crimes against his people should be handed over to ICC and dealt with, no sentiment about it at all. sorry guy No Ghanaian will be sent to that court. Our High Courts and supreme court will deal with them. |
Politics › Re: Nigeria Will Not Quit ICC: Foreign Ministry by Just30: 1:12pm On Feb 02, 2017 |
jpphilips: I disagree, the US has a SC veto but not a signatory to the Rome statute, SC is more powerful than the ICC and covers global jurisdiction, why would a country have the right to stay or leave the ICC when the SC can hand down any sanction they deem necessary to any country? The US said they have strong institutions reason they don't need the ICC, but what about weak institutions protected by the US by virtue of their SC veto example Bahrain? I think the way it should play out is this; the SC should have its own court where your summon should be decided by the super powers as it were. Are you insane? You are giving them the power to share African countries among themselves again. They will share and loot. Don't build your own institutions to withstand your political class and continue looking to the US and Europe |

Our current economic quagmires caused by bad policies and low foreign exchange earnings are the factors responsible for the decline of the value of our currency low foreign exchange means the Central Bank cannot continue to back the pegging of the currency . It's a good thing allowing market courses to determine the strength of the currency. Pegging is not sustainable |

Anybody earning monthly salary pays.income tax, we also pay VAT on purchases made at registered stores and other taxes such as rent income etc. ...tax is not limited to any country... in Ghana, you pay income tax on every income you make including gifts. A tax was introduced on investment returns, it has now been suspended. Energy levy, Petroleum tax and they are insanely high. 20% of my data cost goes to VAT and NHIS two taxes combined |
