rvp2018: As always half baked research. Kengen is just one of many players in power generation sector. They are only folks with hydro.. Hydro should be anywhere 35 percent or below now.
rvp2018: The madcow ranting daily - repeating same nonsense.
As of 2019 census - Kenya had about 6.5M household and business connected to main electricity - about 2 million are business enterprise - about 4.5m were household - now overally number of both household and business is 8.5m connected to metered main electricity (Ghana last I checked was not even at 3.5 million metered connection
)
50 percent of kenya households were connected to main electricity - with 17 percent connected to solar (small home system) or mini grids.
Kenya is world leader or 2nd to India in number of small solar home system. There are millions of household with solar systems - Kenya buys solars as you buy generators.
You need to understand that unlike Ghana or Nigeria that almost entirely arable - Kenya population is settled on a small corridor that is arable - and can support lots of human population- and that is where it feasible to connect to main electricity.
The rest (80 percent of land mass that is semi arid and arid) will remain under solar and off grid solutions - it wont make sense to pull wires hundreds of kilometers to connect two or three nomadic pastoralist families who will move next week to new place in search of water and pasture.
ELEVATE THE DEBATE HERE - a
First pic - is Kenya electricity Infra Second and third pic - is Kenya pop density lunatic rant with unrelated stuff that doesn't make sense Look for another excuse for why only 50% of your people are connected despite they living closer together in few towns.
Ghana has more smaller villages with a few 100 people in it and still manage to run wires for over 100s of kilometers just to get those few people connected.
rvp2018: 3000Mw produced - with peak usage of 2000MW. Average Kenya only use electricity for lighting a bulb and watching TV. We are not doing heavy smelting or minning - which consume power - neither do we use any air-condition. Nobody I know in Nairobi has any air-con. It useless. Most of kenya cities except for Mombasa are in very great weather zones - in the equator and altitude of 2000 meters....great weather.
let me just post what KenGen is saying so you don't lie..
Today, KenGen PLC has an installed generation capacity of 1,818MW, of which over 86% is drawn from green sources namely: Hydro (826MW), Geothermal (713MW), Thermal (253MW), and Wind (26MW)
Hydro contribute almost 50%
Your country total demand currently stands at 2000mw in 2021 and mind you your country produce below it installed capacity.... Meaning you don't have enough electricity to go round...
rvp2018: There is overcapacity of nearly 1,000MW. Kenya do not use a lot of electricity because the majority of people live in the equator and in the highlands/high altitude - meaning electricity is really for lighting a bulb and watching TV.
so Kenya has 2000Mw electricity and only 1000mw is consumed with and over capacity of 1000mw ?
gallivant: Bro why are you always making noise for everyone? If you can't provide sources for your rants, kindly shut up!! It's tiring reading your nonsense.
Shma: Don't confuse facts with rants. When you say Kenya's electricity access rate is at 50% without dropping a source to justify, then you're a truly deranged m0ffo. You've been doing this for over a long time.
rvp2018: You wish it was in Ghana. Kenya Power company last did power rationing (dumsor) I think two decades ago...famously in 1999-2001. We dumped hydro power - and embraced geothermal - and supply issues are non-existent - except in few areas that use to depend on Uganda hydro- now all switched to geothermal.
There are few planned interruptions that must be published... These are areas where line has to be disconnected - not because of lack of power - but add new transformer or etc. All this is done during the day. https://www.kplc.co.ke/category/view/50/planned-power-interruptions
they've been rationing since ....
It's part of the reason why Kenya power has not been able to connect more than 50% of you guys...
rvp2018: In kenya there is no dumsor except in areas where they are doing maintenance of local line - like adding new customers or transformers. most of maintanance is now live - and so electricity simply never goes off in many weeks; if it goes out; it comes back in less than 30 minutes.
Shma: Again, you're wasting your energy speaking nothing. I don't buy prevaricated & subjective opinions. If you want anybody, even a low IQ m0ron like samboro to take you serious, then you need to say something - at least a single truth will suffice. Don't just throw words left right center like a non compos mentis.
vankelvin: This is how you suppose to comment.. Comments devoid of your usual incessant jabs at the tail end .... Learn sense this year cos your country isn't better than any country here.
obaaderemi: The thread should just end here. I always knew it that the little Indians have always tweaked their data on development. It's so sad a small country could look like this. There is something evilly wrong with Africa.
Tennessee85: Dude, there are no great pitches in Ghana where your league matches are played. We see them online and they're horrible. The idiotic Saddick Adams wasn't talking about the stadium, enough of your blatant lies. If according to you he meant only the places the stadiums are located, don't you have horrible shitholes in your country like chorkor, Agbogbloshie, Fadama etc? Would it make sense for a Cameroonian journalist to come to your country and go online to make posts about how Chorkor, Agbogbloshie, Fadama make Cameroon look like Dubai? You Ghanainas should stop thinking like the low self-esteemed villagers who don't travel.
Tennessee85: How could he have mocked Cameroon for "mediocre stadiums" when their stadiums are better than your own? Are you okay at all? Did you even see his Facebook post? Someone wrote: "some of these places really make Ghana and Accra seem like Dubai", and you're claiming he's just mocking Cameroon for having mediocre stadiums? You have stadiums yet your league matches are played at utterly horrible pitches? Your grandiose delusions must be innate.
You're still talking without using common sense .... You think it is out of no reason that English Cameroon wants their freedom from mediocre French Cameroon?
Yes I've seen his FB post and it's about the stadiums and places they are located, how poorly developed those places are.
My league matches are played in Clubs stadiums as all clubs have decided to have their own stadiums... Some of these clubs have great pitches
Those that play in national stadiums play on awesome pitches.
Tennessee85: There's no stadium in Ghana that's better than that Cameroon stadium, stop lying. And there should be no reason why a Ghanaian so-called sports journalist in Cameroon to cover the AFCON would come online to ridicule and mock Cameroon in relation to Ghana. Even calling Ghana Dubai to Cameroon! That's classless and disrespectful? Which Ghana again? I've always noticed that you Ghanaians suffer from chronic insecurity and delusions of grandeur to the extent that you always get elated when you're assured that others are suffering and miserable than you. You don't have good rail system, no national carrier, no good stadiums and yet you're calling your country "Dubai" to Cameroon? Utterly delusional.
he mocked Cameroon for the mediocre stadiums ...
I've mentioned stadiums for you and they're far better.
Instead of ranting on here out if your own insecurities, youll do yourself best to know what he was saying
Tennessee85: Stop deluding yourself Kofi, there's no "better" stadium in Ghana than that Cameroon Stadium. Instead of tell in to go online, why not show me these "better" stadiums in Ghana? Is it the one in Accra or the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi? Dubai indeed.
I'm not a Kofi....
Secondly, I've mentioned 3 stadiums that are better than what Cameroon put up... Just stop being delusional..
Tennessee85: I'm not suggesting that your league matches should be played at one stadium. The truth is, your league match pitches and "stadiums" are nothing to write home about. They are secondary school level. And you're bragging about being "Dubai" to Cameroon? Just show me one stadium in your whole country that's comparable to the one Cameroon used in the AFCON opening match against Burkina Faso.
Go online and you'll find better stadiums from Ghana than what has been built in Cameroon
Tennessee85: 4 to 5 "qualified cities" indeed. You have eye-catching stadiums yet your league matches are played in secondary school level and horrible-looking pitches? Delusional.
so you want my league to be played in only 7 stadiums ?
Every Team must have their home stadium, menacing matches have to be rotated .
Don't talk about what you have very little idea of..
Tennessee85: Ghana can only be Dubai in your Banku-filled brain. And yes, only Accra can qualify to be called a "city" in the whole of your country. Ghana is Dubai yet you don't even have a good or eye-catching stadium like the one in Cameroon, same country you're mocking.
We have at least 4 to 5 qualified cities ....
Eye catching stadiums like the one in Takoradi and Tamale or Cape Coast... That's more than one..
You think Saddick was mocking? He was advocating for better stadiums ... Instead of watching African leaders spend so much only to end up building mediocre stuff
Tennessee85: The way these Ghanaians hype their shithole called Accra, you'd think it was just another Paris in Africa, lol. One of their stupid sports journalists calles Saddick Adams is on Facebook mocking Cameroon by claiming that Ghana is Dubai compared to Cameroon. Imagine ordinary Ghana that only Accra can be considered a "city" in the entire country bragging about being like Dubai? Lol, delusional people.
ofcourse Ghana is Dubai
That's where everyone wants to party, come every December
Saddick is one of the best sport journalist on the continent...
Did I hear you say, only Accra is a city .. you must not have traveled enough
The thriving ashawo industry of malindi.it’s their yam legs and uneven proportion of their hips and ass. Pls let’s not talk about the face and protruding tummy.
More of the crazy backwater zoo malindi. The more I dig deeper the more I get angry that this argument lasted more than 10 minutes talk more of a year. Northern Nigeria is more developed than the whole of Kenya save for Nairobi. You can imagine the level of insult we have to endure everyday when citizen from this backwater zoo with barely any infrastructure wake up to compare after cherry-picking a few road.this entire zoo need serious infrastructural reforms. I repeat Nigeria is not on this level, maybe 3 decades ago we where here. We keep quiet a lot and take their stupid shiit.
GeneralDae: That one always mixes up the truth in a bid to lie. When he wants to lie, he mixes up everything combining old information with new information. If you don't check his facts properly you would be fooled.
samorobo: Notice how this place will be quiet today. Notice how they will avoid this thread for a few day(s). But I will be here waiting when they return.Nonsense and ingredient
