obaaderemi: 60% of the people living in Nairobi live in slums, in essence 60% of Nairobi's population live in 5% of the land if your claim is anything to go by.
So who occupies the better parts? Indians, white settlers and a few black Kenyans mostly corrupt politicians.
People starving in Kenya are not few. Millions of people can't be categorized as few. You're inhuman to say the least.
You got problems and they're huge, and unsolvable.
it's actually a lie.... Only 10% or so of Nairobi lands is built on.. Out of this 10%, 5% of it provide housing for 75% of the population.. Half of this 5% land is occupied by informal densely populated settlements
rvp20182: Watch this video by this Oxford Phd - brain - it been reduced to moronic version for your types. It summarize kenya housing for small minds like you
you mean, it summarizes it for a small mind like yours and your type?
Simply put, over the past 10 years, your country has struggled to put up even 10,000 unit per year.... Tell us how it will manage to put up 250,000 in the next 5 years...
Make your dreams a bit believable.... You don't even have the needed cement to put it up
rvp20182: The housing boom about to commence in Nairobi is unprecedented. Ruto has committed to build 250,000 units annually - you can bet most will be in Nairobi. That in 5yrs will be 1 million units. THAT IS HUGE. Uhuru the drunkard was unable to pull it off. Ruto will do it.
nothing will happen my guy Your country barely build 10,000 unit per year, let alone do 250,000
rvp20182: Only a slowpoke would compare kenya with Nigeria. Just because some few remote people living in kenya deserts are struggling - doesnt mean the greater majority of kenyans are suffering. Far from it. The kenyans in ASAL are few and remote. The majority kenyans are living way better lifes than you can imagine. Rural kenya is paradise compared to Nigeria - as people enjoy 24hrs of electricity, piped water, name it.
Again just because they are some slums in Nairobi - doesnt mean Nairobi is a hell hole like Lagos. It isnt - which is why Expat voted it best city in Africa - way ahead of Cape town.
[quote author=GeneralDae post=117086770]I don't know who have seen this. The whole truth about France and their mission in Africa as shared by the new far right Italian prime minister.
rvp2018: We are talking green spaces within the city... Nairobi was named the 14th most ecological friendly nation because of such green spaces..Accra has the dubious distinction of being the dirtiest city for many years running
Accra is an over performer on the green city index while your Nairobi is an under performer as we've seen on the index several times.
When they talk about city green spaces, they are not referring to untouched forest that is lying somewhere outside your built limit but how the city is planned to allow biodiversity to still flourish.
That means still allowing trees and co to flourish even in the built environment.
There's a reason why Kenya is such a dirty place with people still dying from cholera
They said post a park and you're busy looking for forest ... This is Ankasa forest in the Western Region of Ghana.. It is the most biodiversed forest in Africa with a beautiful tree cover. So rich in flora and fauna
rvp20182: Nairobi is one greenest city - with half are green space 1) Nairobi National park -Animal park - with many zoos inside it 2) Uhuru park-central park - Jivanjee - all the way to westlands - are green spaces. 3) Karura forest 4) Ngong forest 5) Langata botanical garden 6) Langata Uhuru gardens. 7) Aborterum Park City Park 10) Jamhuri park ...and many small other ones.
Try to compete with Nigerian slumcities...you have the same architect and city planners.
we said parks and you're already mentioning forest that have nothing recreational...
See Kumasi Rattary Park it has a lot of fun activities for kids every weekend.
rvp20182: It decent by west african standard - pretty crap compared to kenya. You got one ugly region.
The ugliest region I've seen so far is East Africa. By Western Standard as you like to say, it is one of the most decent butterfly sanctuary in the world.
What has that park in Nairobi got ? it is just a walk way with carpet grass It doesn't have anything recreational there unlike the Aburi one where you can go QUAD bike riding and etc
Or the Children park in Accra CMB that has a lot of activities for kids
rvp20182: I have only see the half decent tree lined Aburi. The rest including the freedom square is pretty sad. You should try to compete with Nigeria - Naiobi and Kenya is on another level.
Exactly, like you said, you have only seen the Aburi botanical gardens which has better offering than this park you're comparing to Central park.
rvp20182: Dont compare a park in middle of a slum - with Nairobi central/uhuru park that is comparable to likes of Central Park Neywork - Smack right at CBD.
68816419: Indeed, education is quite affordable in Nigeria. Medical students can enroll in medical school for under $100 regardless of their nationality, and this is one of the main reasons why students from all over the world are flocked to our universities. There isn't a university you can visit where you won't run with students from Ghana, Cameroon, Chad, Senegal, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Indians, Lebanese, Bangladesh, Liberia, Togo, Benin, and a host of other countries. We just need to get rid of ASUU, and everything will be good. If Nigerian colleges are really that awful, how come medical students and other professionals with Nigerian training are in demand all over the world?
Ghanaian students in Nigeria? That will be close to an impossibility
rvp20182: The whole idea of building proper highways is to deal with insecurity and expense - otherwise if I want to ship my tea from Kericho to Abuja - I would have to now track or rail it 800kms to Mombasa...have it go round Africa to Lagos port...then all the way on road to Abuja. That is a month at best. But now if there was a road...I would just drive for 5,000kms...that is 5 days of driving...if I drive 1000kms every day...on good proper expressway...this should be vision of Africa...major highways and rail lines. In developed world - trucks are driven from london to germany...from Toronto to Los Angeles...4,000kms in 2-3 days - one should one day drive from Abuja to Nairobi in 2-3 days..
it will still be cheaper to move goods by sea than by road
Fourpockets: I don't understand, why would anyone want to travel that long distance, it doesn't make sense logically cos of security and it's even expensive.
Does it make sense to travel from Lagos to Accra or from Accra to Abidjan? If it does, then it make sense for the continent to be interconnected
