Osun State announces total lock down from Tuesday, March 31, as it confirms its second coronavirus case. Osun announces total lockdown of State as Oyetola discloses second confirmed COVID-19 case The Osun State Government has announced the total lockdown of the State on Tuesday following the confirmation of the second case of the deadly Coronavirus. The Government reaffirmed the commitment to shut down all the land boundaries effective from midnight, Sunday, March 29, 2020. The Governor of the State, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, made the disclosure during a statewide broadcast on Sunday morning. Oyetola maintained that there would be no movement within the State during the shutdown while those on essential duties such as health personnel, fire service, environmental officials, security personnel, power and water supply agencies, media and telecommunication officers will be on duty. He described the decision as imperative in view of the devastating nature of the pandemic, adding that the first priority of any responsive and responsible government is to respond effectively to protect its citizens when an emergency occurs. Oyetola who expressed sadness over the latest incident, reiterated that the decision remained the only way to go if the State was to contain the spread of the disease. "Following a review of our current situation, we have in addition to the subsisting measures taken in the past one week, decided to shut down all our boundaries, effective from midnight Sunday, March 29, 2020. In addition, a complete lockdown of the State will come into effect from midnight, Tuesday, March 31, 2020 "We believe this is the way to go, if we must contain the spread of this virus. To this end, we urge citizens and residents to take advantage of the hours between now and Tuesday to stock up provisions that will last them two weeks in the first instance. "During the lockdown, there will be no movement within the state. The closed boundaries also means there will be no inter-state movements. However, those on essential duties such as health personnel, fire service, environmental officials, security personnel, power and water supply agencies, media and telecommunication officers will be on duty. Also, pharmaceutical and medical outfits will be allowed to open. "We have mandated and mobilised the State’s taskforce and security operatives to enforce measures to the letter. We, therefore, strongly advise our people to remain in their homes during the period of the lockdown. "When an emergency occurs, such as the one at hand, the first priority of any responsive and responsible government is to respond effectively to protect its citizens. This is what we will continue to do", Oyetola added. The governor urged the residents not to panic by the new measures but continue to adhere to government's instructions and directives on the need for them to continue to observe necessary precautionary measures, including regular washing of hands with water and soap and also maintain the prescribed social distancing. He lauded the critical stakeholders led by the former Health Minister, Prof. Isaac Adewole; taskforce and health officers for their selfless service to humanity. |

But the situation on ground shouldn't stop them from completing what they have started. Let them complete the recruitment process as soon as possible and get in touch with the successful candidates, even if they (the successful ones) are not resuming yet. |
nairalanderfan:This is bad! |
I thought somebody was saying the results of the interview would be out by 1st or 2nd week of March. Pls, what's happening? Henry692: |
Gentle05: Gentle05:You post this info on the Teachers' thread yesterday, perhaps you know one or two things about this particular one. Let us know if you have heard anything concerning this one also. Probably, KDSG wants to release the final list together (Teachers and Civil Servants). |

Uspic:He is the number one citizen of the state, he should be able to keep his words - my opinion. |
But the governor made us understand in his last media chat that the process will be completed by the end of the first quarter of the year, which is this month already. |
imamabi:I pray it is true, even before then. I want it this week. |
Good evening everyone. I learnt today is the last day for the CSC interview. Pls, can we hear from those who did theirs today? Any information concerning the interview schedule of the the rest of the applicants? Any clue in respect of the end of the process? |
nairalanderfan:Another controversial rumour? |
muhyideenabdul:I don't understand, pls make yourself explicit. You mean there is going to be another stage after this (interview) stage to screen people out? The process is getting too long and tiring. |
FG to engage more qualified teachers, might consider N-Power beneficiaries NEWS! Buhari reveals plans to Nigerian teachers, speaks on N-PowerPublished 6 seconds ago on January 14, 2020 By Wale Odunsi President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abuja said the Federal Government is ready to engage more qualified teachers to increase the teacher-to-pupil ratio in the country. Receiving the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Buhari acknowledged that Nigeria had a deficit of teachers, which his administration is addressing through the N-Power Teach Volunteers scheme under National Social Investment Programme (NSIP). “We have created a dedicated platform under the National Social Investment Programme called N-Power Teach, which engages qualified graduates to man the gaps of basic education delivery in Nigeria. “These N-Power Teach Volunteers are deployed as teacher assistants in primary schools across Nigeria to support existing teachers. “The aim of this, and many other Government programmes, is to increase the teacher-student ratio at the primary school level thereby enhancing the quality of students moving to secondary schools. “I want to take this opportunity to ask all members of Nigeria Union of Teachers to support these programmes and encourage as many qualified and willing graduates to enrol in the teaching profession,’’ the President said. In his remarks, NUT President, Dr Nasir Idris, commended the Buhari administration strides in the education sector. “Gigantic gains in the anti-corruption crusade, technical defeat of Boko Haram terrorists in the North East, restoration of teaching and learning in the schools of the North-East geo-political zone that were affected by insurgency, securing the release of Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents.” The union leader also praised the Buhari government for sustaining the National School Feeding Programme, establishing the National Secondary Schools Commission to regulate secondary education and the proposed establishment of six federal colleges of education across the geo-political zones of the country. Presenting some pressing challenges of the teachers to the President, the NUT leader appealed for presidential assent to the Bill on Teachers Retirement Age, and the Teachers Special Salary Structure (TSSS), among others. According to Idris, the Teachers Retirement Age, when signed into law, will improve teacher-to-pupil ratio in the country, improve teachers retention rate in public primary and secondary schools and ‘‘revolutionise and strengthen the profession for the wellbeing of the nation’s schools.’’ *https://dailypost.ng/2020/01/14/buhari-reveals-plans-to-nigerian-teachers-speaks-on-n-power/* |
