Yeah BOSS. Honda manual transmission is better.. I will rather take a Honda with manual transmission over an automatic one..

yungboss: thats the prob, a mechanic just tells u ur gearbox wil go bad when you get a car, a car that you'l probably use for years as long as u give it its proper and due maintenance. Some Nigerian mech's arent good enuf, too bad
Thats Nigeria for you but u know Honda automatics transmission are not that reliable .. The newer ones are but the older ones are messed up., there was a class action suit in early 200s on their Acura and Honda transmission and they had to extend the warranty to 6 years

yungboss: did u say condemn a bmw 328i?? I didnt read that correctly,or was it a mistake by u? i'm not arguing/saying ur 3.0 v6 vq30de aint powerful, but i bet u,the famous RWD inline-6's 328i as a matter of fact, wil teach it a little lesson about driving/performance/handling. U know this kind argument is best settled on the dragstrip/twisty road, lol. Where's jeremy clarkson?
No doubt, FE/Rw is a better set up than FF. u are right in the driving dynamics and spirited driving favoring the BMW but remember , we are talking about reliability here.. U can't compare Japanese reliability vs German reliability ,.

You have to try 98 Nissan maxima v6 VQ30DE if you think no 98 car is faster .. Beats BMW inline 6 0-60 and 80-120km/h with power delivery

the bimmer does 0-60 in 6.4s and does 1/4 mile in about 15s, with just 190hp and 206lb-ft torque. Lets see ur figures for the maxima
0-60 in 6.5. 190hp 205Lb torque. BULLETPROOF reliability. WARDS 10 best engine list (95-99) . Both are great engines no doubt but maxima comes out ahead in reliability ..Timing chain not belt driven . Absolutely no maintenance required. Just change oil and drive..
Car TalkRe: What Is Really Wrong With a V6 Engine? by KA24DETT(m): 10:41pm On May 02, 2012
yungboss: well articulated. I plan to add another inline 6 to my car,the e36 bmw 328i (i got an offer for an e36 bmw m3 but for N2.1m so i'm holding on). I once drove a 328i from warri to benin. It was the most awesome experience i had driving a '98 car. To be honest,i dont think any car built in '98 in its class is faster...but consumption was more compared to my 320i.
About my 320i, i used a full tank to warri from Pharcourt and back to pharcourt during the fuel crises period early this year. (arrived home with the fuel guage needle just below the 1/4 mark). @poster, you can live with a V6/I6 just give it a try.
You have to try 98 Nissan maxima v6 VQ30DE if you think no 98 car is faster .. Beats BMW inline 6 0-60 and 80-120km/h with power delivery. But u are right though. V6 is faster and has a smoother power delivery. I can't imagine buying an inline 4.
A well maintained v6 can last forever. My old 98 maxima lasted till 340,000km and it never died. Nissan uses timing chain so no need for belt maintenance.
There is a lot more to fuel consumption than V6 or inline 4. Worn spark plug, old 02 sensors , bad air filter, clogged oil filter. No 2 cars will give you the same gas mileage . A lot of factors is at play.
Everything boils down to maintenance. You maintain any engine and it can run forever. You skimp on it and the first thing you notice is your mileage tanks.
If you want a 6 cylinder with 4 cylinder consumption , get a 6 cylinder with manual transmission. Forced induction and diesels is for another thread ..

Nigerians love to suffer I tell you, This is how it starts, when this thing is fully deregulated and there is a little rise in world crude oil prices, the marketers would increase the price of fuel . They can always argue that that the cost of crude oil has gone up so now, they have to increase the cost of fuel to recoup their savings. Crude oil is an intl traded commodity so what happens in any part of the world surely affects the prices , What happens when the price of crude oil goes up to $150 like it did last 3years? Would fuel be sold for 140? What regulatory oversight do we have in place to stop these guys from increasing the price of fuel if there is any increase in the price of crude oil ? The price of aviation fuel has increased 25% from january last year to thus year, What stops these guys from getting greedy and asking for an increase in price or creating artificial scarcity to use as a negotiating tool,
The question we should be asking GEJ is what happened to our excess crude oil account ? How come subsidy went from 300billion to 1.2 trillion in one year?
The problem Nigerians have is not with the subsidy removal but rather with TRUST, The guys in power are not sacrificing to keep this country afloat but rather are telling the poor masses who have been bearing the brunt of their bad decision or rather no decision to continue sacrificing to keep this union afloat. Anyone who has Seen the 2012 budget would wonder what type of democracy we are running. Why renovate the same office every year,? Excess allowances , Fat feeding budgets ,,

They have every reason to be cus their leaders have not been sincere in their dealings with them. The Reason Why Oil-subsidy Cannot Be
Removed Through The Repairs Of Our
Refinries.

The fanthom removal of oil-subsidy is
just
a ploy to increase the price of petrol.
Reason? GEJ wants his friends - the
CABAL to continue making billions from
fuel-importation, but wants to shift the burden from the neck of his goverment
unto the neck of the poor masses already
overburdend through goverment
corruption. Please anyone who has even a single
bone of sincerityin his/her body, please
ask yourself & answer this pertinent
question: Why can't this fuel subsidy be
removed
through making(by repairs) our refiniries to start working & functioning at full
capacity?

WHY CAN'T THIS OIL-SUBSIDY BE
REMOVED BY MAKING (BY REPAIRS) OUR
REFINIRIES TO START WORKING AND
FUNCTIONING AT FULL CAPACITY?

In my own opinion, the answer to this
pertinent question(also big puzzle) is
this: if the refinries start working as they
should, the need to make any trillions
availabe for oil-subsidy will vanish. But
that's not the only thing that will vanish. The very lucrative billions-of-dollars-
profit-making- business of fuel-
importation will automatically grind to a
halt since Nigeria will have all the fuel it
needs produced loaclly through our
refiniries, hence no need for importation.

So because fuel-importation must
continue at all cost, because
"chopulation" must continue at all cost for
the BIG BOYS of PDP and PDP associates,
the option to be taken  is for price of fuel
to be increased instead of the best option (best both in short & long terms) of
repairing our refiniries. This way, the PDP Big Boys continue
making money; but instead of making it
off goverment, GEJ wants them t now be
making it off the poor masses.

Please, all you guys championing oil-subsidy removal, prove wrong what I have said here or shut up forever,
Beaf just being hit with a right hook and falls to the canvas. Kobojunkie has begun the countdown grin.   GEJ with new shoes acting as BEAF coach is urging beaf to get up and stay till the end of the fight , Would beaf stage a comeback??

Okay beaf and pro-subsidy guys. We get your point, if we don't remove subsidy, our economy will fail and Mr president has said subsidy removal is what is needed to free up resources. Good, ur arguments make sense and the masses should pay for a better Nigeria.
How about the senators and house of representatives. Can they take a 50percent pay cut so we can channel the money into reconstruction and nation building?? Well, gasoline prices are projected to jump up by 100 percent to (130 naira) and with Nigerian economy , cost of living would go up by 100 percent; that means the purchasing power of the masses would go down by 50 percent.
Why don't Jonathan ask the senators and reps to slash their pay and allowance by 50percent cus that move single handedly would free nigeria with billions of naira every year. Why is it that the masses who don't really gain anything from this fake democracy we are practicing are meant to pay the biggest price to keep it running? Why is our leaders not making sacrifices or are they not supposed to be representing us? Why is no one asking these questions or is Abuja not a part of Nigeria anymore?
We run an over bloated government with so much in-efficiencies and instead of trying to cover the loop holes, Jonathan is putting forward this measure, Jonathan is claiming that he will set up departments to alleviate poverty, is that not increasing the size of the government even more?. So we are back to a bigger govt with so many inefficiencies.
I think Jonathan is taking the cowardly way out to save the economy. Plugging the inefficiencies and corruption going on in the subsidy program and demanding the law makers take a pay cut is enough to pay for the subsidy till we have better options cus right now is not the best climate to be removing subsidy.

In every democracy, there would always be criticism towards the president, it does not mean we do not wish good to him . It means we know he can do more and we expect him to do more.
For those saying that there are powers out there to sabotage Jonathan, you have to realize that he is the president, he has the final way in most matters, he is the number 1 man in Nigerian and nobody is above him . With the power vested onto him by our constitution ( including me and you lining up 8 hours to vote for him ). He should exercise those power and bring these people that are hell- bent on making Nigeria a suburb of hell. Some families lost their son and daughters working as youth corpers to get him elected . I believe that the president wishes good for our country but the problem is that the people that helped him and sponsored him into power are the ones making money with the status quo. Mr president being someone that's not cool with stepping on toes, allows the status-quo to remain. He can't trim the government, he cant tackle the fraud going on with the fuel subsidy. So who do we turn to?

2. GEJ should have taken charge during the Yaradua saga? Really? Was he a military general or are we no more in a democracy? You blew it guy!
3. He should just jail Boko Haram sponsors? Really? Please can you help us with the list of sponsors you have gathered and the evidence that they are sponsors? Can you forward it to SSS office please? You think they give Boko Haram and their sponsors ID cards? Some Nigerians are just too daft! Ode
4. Or maybe u live in Naija but your problem is that you are an example of our failed educational system

Guy I do agree with some of your points especially the fact that a sitting president will always take the heat. But when you see criticism coming from objective sources, you know it. No one ever faulted Gani;s criticisms because it was clear that it was genuine. The criticisms coming from ACN and the South west and from CPC are partisan and tribal! we can all see it clearly
You have to learn to put your point across without resorting to insult and demeaning statements. I put up a constructive criticism of how our president is running things the wrong way, What you should have done as an educated guy (I assume) Is to prove to me why you think he's making the right moves. If it sounds convincing enough , I might end up supporting mr. President. Okay fine, Jonathan didn't stay 4 yrs, you won that part, but did he show the people of bayelsa dividends of democracy? Do they look back and think of Jonathan as someone that made a visible impart in their life? That's the message am trying to put across. On the point of Jonathan and the events following yaradua death (RIP); it seems like Jonathan was not intersted in ruling the country. Remember everyone was saying on how Jonathan should be handed power over including W.Soyinka and the save Nigeria group (SNG). Yaradua and Tutsi kitchen cabinets were trying so hard to stay in power and Jonathan didn't do nothing. I don't expect him to pull a dictatorship on us.
The question is, would you allow the president to run your household the way he is running Nigeria?.
Pls tone down on the insults cus it gets us no where. We should be channeling our angers to the leaders that are rubbing us blind and not go along with their divide And conquer tactics they been using on us.

From the comment i have been reading ,, Nigerians have not suffered enough. They need to suffer more.
@BEAF , When a President is working, u dont need to debate it. You will see it. You will feel the CHANGE IN THE AIR.  Jonathan has been the governor of bayelsa for more than 4 yrs and noone knew of any major change he brought to that state. Absolutely nothing. He was scared to take charge of the helms of the country during the yaradua crisis. Jonathan is not a fighter, he is a push-around.  He says something today and he retracts it tomorrow. Is that the person you all think is gona move this country forward. Pathetic.  He should have used the boko haram crisis to prove to the people that he is a serious president, clamped down on the sponsors, get them tried and darn the consequences. All we get is AMNESTY FOR BOKOHARAM. This is the group that killed thousands of people and youth corpers and you are offering amnesty.  Obviously, the sponsors now knows that u are not a strong man so that gives them the zeal to ramp up their effort to de-stabilize the country.
Abraham lincoln was assasinated during the american civil war because the southern states didnt want to abolish slavery and wanted to cede away from the union. Lincoln refused and stood grounds and was in contact with the commanders on the front line everyday till he was assasinated.  Abraham lincoln is regarded by most scholars as, if not the greatest US president.
A president that wants to change nigeria has to be mean, would make lots of enemies, would be hated by those at the top who has been benefitting from the rot in the system. He might not survive the tenure cus  when you fight corruption, corruption fights back.
So my people, Do you think Mr president can fight corruption?? Taking the easy way out in every scenario wouldnt get us far, instead of auditing NNPC and finding out what our actual daily consumption , u take the easy way out and remove subsidy cus u dont want to piss off your backers who are exploiting the system. TO the fuel importers, subsidy or no subsidy, they would still rape the system and get what they want.  Instead of bringing the bokoharam backers to the court of law, you rather offer amnesty and hire israeli to protect you and your family and f**** eveybody else .
Nigerians need to suffer more and more so then when someone throws in their hat for the presidential race, we would ask questions and  ask for their performance history, We not there mentally yet , till then, we deserve all the rape and abuse that the leaders are heaping onto us.  The moto "GOD DEY, GOD GO PURNISH THEM" has to change

US ARMY corps of engineers that does bridge maintenance and DAm building is a federal body and its not funded in part by any state. If Newyork is sinking, mayor bloomberg would expect the FG to step in cus the FG has a stake in NY.

Why is it that when things get to nigeria, it is turned upside down, Be honest withurself BEAF,,  The FG should step up and protect lagos coast line and that goes as well to the gully erosion in the east and the desert encrooachment in the North,

this is exactly what i mean about nigeria's literacy level. you can read but you don't have the ability to write. i am sure you count yourself as one of the 72%(not the 76% you claimed) and i have been able to identify you as a semi-illiterate. surely, there must be other verminous simpletons like you claiming to be literate thus adding to the statistics but whose ability is at par with a well-trained german shepherd.

you will find out that you are the nincompoop with poop for brains. . . .now you go and re-educate yourself. . .

Education and Literacy: In 2004 Nigeria’s adult literacy rate was 69.1 percent on average, with
a higher rate for men (78.2 percent) than for women (60.1 percent). Nigeria provides free,
government-supported education, but attendance is not compulsory at any level, and certain
groups, such as nomads and the handicapped, are underserved. The education system consists of
six years of primary school, three years of junior secondary school, three years of senior
secondary school, and four years of university education leading to a bachelor’s degree.

In 2005
59 percent of girls and 68 percent of boys were enrolled in primary school. However, only 23
percent of girls and 28 percent of boys were enrolled in secondary school.

In 2004
the Nigerian National Planning Commission described the country’s education system as “dysfunctional.”
Reasons for this characterization included decaying institutions and ill-prepared graduates

You can rant and rave all day about our ''problems''. What I do know is that they are far better than the ZERO ROADS, ZERO ELECTRICITY, ZERO SCHOOLS, AND ZERO CARS (except for the super rich) of the colonial era.

If you want to return to the British era of mud huts, disease, and illiteracy, BE MY GUEST, but please do not come here and try to deceive people that things were somehow ''better'' under them. It is not my duty either to show you the figures/stats from colonial Nigeria. You should have checked them out before coming here to praise Oyibo colonialists. Go on Google and research!
U see ur problem,,, u are taggin me as a british apologist, all am saying is that u guys messed shit up, u didnt develop the country from where ur colonial masters left off, i gave u an example of an african country like urs that got their independence at the same time like urs in a worse case scenario but are better now, when u are given lemons, make lemonade, work with what u have and stop blaming people that left u 50 yr ago for ur shortcomings,

I thought you said there were ZERO schools under the British.    You see, you are learning something new again.   You will make a good student, but you have to be willing to learn, instead of ranting like a raving lunatic on Nairaland.

Oh yes it IS the question. Are you and your friends not here praising them to high heavens for doing nothing?? And then when I say ''NO. They did nothing'', you say I'm blaming them. I wouldn't 'blame' them if you didn't praise them.

We've done a lot. We've cut infant mortality from 250 per thousand in colonial times to 90 per thousand today. We have 120 universities, from 0 in 1960. We have more roads, more hospitals, more schools, more professionals, and a far larger middle class than we did under colonialism. We have achieved a LOT compared to where we were in the 1960s. There's a lot to do yet, but you'd be absolutely crazy to say we've achieved nothing.

Maybe YOU are not going anywhere. Many Nigerians are doing a lot better these days. Our economy is the third fastest growing in the world today at 8% per annum. Things are moving. Go out there and contribute your own, rather than come here talking rubbish about your country.
If u took statistics class in college, u would know that u can twist figures anyhow u want to get the result u need. u never told me where u got ur infant mortality rates or death rates, the amount of people that die on lagos- ibadan road a day is more than the infant mortality rate during colonial rule and thats one road., because ur oil sector is getting back to pre-militant level cus of niger delta amnesty dosent mean u are actually growing, Inflation is in the double digit, what middle class are u talking about??. Nigeria has a struggling class not middle class. A middle class that can fall into poverty so fast cus the stupid govt makes one stupid decision or pass a stupid law. a middle class that has their gain being eroded yearely by double digit inflation. what middle class are u talking about.?. There are 2 classes of people in nigeria, the people in the corridors of power and their relations and friends that leech off the common wealth and the people waiting on the sideline that one day, they will get to the corridors of power. Funny thing is, the ones on top dont wana give up their position easily.   What is ur real productivity?? we are not a producing nation,, no country develops without a manufacturing base. Buying and selling is not a measure of productivity. We import toothpick, clothes food and everything inbetween. Factories are closing everyday. A middle class is when u have people that have jobs and benefit and have their own homes. how many nigerians own their homes? most dont even move out of their parents house till they are 30. Over here, a kid of 25 has a mortgage , car and a steady job.
Not because things are working great for u and u are barely surviving cus of ur job dosent mean it is the same for the millions out there that are carrrying their cv from one office to the next, In a country that only 10percent of their graduates manage to get a job after graduating is not developing country.

ABSOLUTELY 1000%

The railway was set up by the British to transport Nigerian resources from the north to the southern ports, for export. The export earnings were retained in Britain. The railway was essentially a tool for your exploitation.

What ''infrastructures'' do you know that the British built for you? How many miles of roads did they build? Let me see: 1/20th of what we have TODAY. And all but a few of the 'roads' they built were DIRT roads.

I won't blame them cos they're natural-born thieves. What I won't stand is deluded people like you who don't know what you're talking about, coming here to praise them for their do-nothing brigandage out of your colonial inferiority complex.

Under the British you had NO universities. Which do you prefer? Statistically, under the British YOU would have been an illiterate. Which do you prefer, your current literacy courtesy of black rule, or illiteracy courtesy of white rule?
Am not saying the british did great for nigeria,,, all am saying is that we should stop BLAMING the british for where we are today, We did this to ourself so if u still sit there and think that the british would develop our country and leave it better than they saw it,, u are wrong,,, it why they are called colonial masters ,,, they come to take, ITs what happens after that matters,,, they laid the little framework they can for u ,, even though u claimed they didnt do much, but we should have worked from the little they did and go from there but we didnt,,, we just sat down and wait for dem oil from nigerdelta to flow in. so now,, whos fault it is that we are in a state of corruption

The question is not what the british did and didnt do, The question is what have we done to bing this country up, so stop posting all these pictures and blaming the british, u can only blame the british for so long, u have to take charge of ur destiny, the reason we are not going anywhere is in part to the greed of our leaders, african countries like botswana got their independence in 1966 and was a very poor country GDP $78 is  now one of the top countries in africa ( they dont require visa to canada) with GDP $14800 (2010). Their leaders want their country to develop and so they shunned corruption,  Its about time we work to get this country where it is supposed to be,
