From what can understand, it seems like the NA were aware of the presence in the vicinity, they tricked them they came closer while an ambush was waiting for them, then NAF did the rest
It was a well planned ambushed, according to the reports, NA sent a couple soldiers to act as bait and draw in fire. Once contact was established, NA & NAF went BOOM!!!

Troops of Operation TURA TAKAIBANGO in conjunction with the Air Task Force Operation LAFIYA DOLE have effectively destroyed 7 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists' gun trucks and decimated several unconfirmed number of the terrorists when they attempted to attack their location at the outskirts of Marte in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State.

The gallant troops, based on reliable information about the attack, had positioned themselves in an ambush site where they tactically withdrew to, and awaited the arrival of the terrorists before they opened fire which led to fierce battle that resulted in the successes recorded as indicated above.

The troops are still engaged in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists for further exploitation. Further details of interest to members of the public will be communicated later.

agree 100% Nigerian armoured vehicles in terms of quality are at an international level these days.... No need to import when you can make the same quality of vehicles(if not better) in Nigeria
Seems like an odd purchase.

Yesterday (January 15th) was Nigerian armed forces remembrance day.

My thoughts!!

Nigerians love the Nigerian armed forces!!

Despite the rocky relationship that Nigerians have had with their military from 1960 to this present day, yesterday's remembrance day showed an overwhelming amount of Nigerians love the military.

The gratitude, wishes and prayers poured on the military yesterday was beyond belief, irrespective of previous fractures and disagreements, the populace had the military, chief amongst them been the recent #endsars protest, Nigerians put aside any feeling of animosity to remember our fallen heroes.

Especially in the more educated, and developed Southern part of Nigeria. A lot of people went on social media to wish the military well.

In fact the likes of Retd Brigadier SK Usman openly shed tears on live TV.

I think most Nigerians want to see the military succeed, most Nigerians also appreciate the sacrifices of our heroes past. Nigerians irrespective of political, tribal and religious affiliations are proud of the military, and their achievements.

This is one of the reasons why I think the new Eagle Wings movie would be a box office success in Nigeria.

The living owe it to those who can no longer speak to tell they story for them.

On behalf of everyone in this thread, I wish the Nigerian armed forces a happy remembrance day!!

Personally not happy with this purchase.
Even if it's ONLY ARA and EZUGWU that are made in country, I would rather all vehicles of this category be sourced here.
When you consider that the cost of the vehicle and the shipping might be more than that of home made vehicles, you wonder.

However, anything that reduces the number of soldiers that will be lost to soft skins is welcome
I don't like this vehicle, I don't think it's a wise purchase, especially considering it's just a Light Armoured Vehicle, we could have sourced locally.

The Army should have gone for the ARA and Ezugwu class vehicles. I really don't see the advantage this vehicle provides over what we have in Nigeria.

If we say cost, the fact that Nigerians are building in Nigeria, forex saving, jobs provided and technical expertise should ordinarily cover for a cheaper cost of this vehicle.

For LAV, there is this.

There are other projects of the Nigerian Navy waiting to be inspected in Germany, South Africa, UK & US, so who knows what is expected.

South-Africa would be Rhib, UK & US would be situational awareness equipment, although I'm surprised about the US.

Germany, I don't know.

Although I read a Thisday report stating we were expecting a new OPV.

for god sake look at how they hold their rifles ! how a soldier with the bare minimum of training would hold his rifle like that ? lets say a single one did not attend training but look at them all of them how they are... maybe Nigeria have some good special forces unit but a bunch of soldiers act like that in the front line is very alarming and do reflect on the entire army whether you like it or not it does raises a lot of question what kind of training did they get ?! why they don't wear protective gear ? why some of the is wearing a red Tshirt ?!
Let me clear something, it's an army base which is currently under attack, as such the guys are wearing what you would normally wear in a "relaxed" state.

No one is talking about Hollywood fighting and yes a single brigade... a single soldier should represent the entire army we're talking here equipment, uniforms and even how they behave in this video... if you don't see a problem here than you really should reconsider... this clip do prove how inefficient the war has been and prove the losses even when you win a battle it does cost you a lot of unnecessary lives and generally the situation in Nigeria does not prove to be well handled at all... they are still struggling with ISIS a lot.
you're talking like there are 2 ways of fighting the what you call "Hollywood" style and this -_- so how the US army is fighting like this ? how the French are fighting ? how the Russians are fighting ? how did the Iraqis win over ISIS ? I don't think they used the Hollywood style or the Nigerian style they acted as an organized well trained militaries not like this in fact in order to win over ISIS the Iraqis changed there plans and fired a lot of there useless generals and formed and trained with the US new units and bought new equipment in order to reclaim there lands because this style of fighting expectedly proved stupid and useless and made the army collapse in front of a militias.
Unfortunately, the army does most of the fighting on the ground, specialized units in the army are better, the navy and air force are significantly better also.

However, i disagree with you when you claim this clip is proof to show how inefficient the campaign against BHT/ISWAP has been. The Americans have been fighting in Afganistan and Iraq for 23 years.

Look at Turkey for example.
