Tochex101: I'm thinking it was supposed to be a night time assault so low visibility.... My anger is a simple problem like "Lack of Comms" might be the reason for this waste of lives......our leaders are wicked! One would think that by now, the Nigerian army would have had some common sense. The Ezugwu MRAP costs about 70 million per vehicle, the ARA MRAP APC costs higher but still within that range, yet, the Nigerian army is finding it very difficult to order these vehicles in huge numbers for troops. We only see them parading the vehicles at arms shows and what not. Carrying soldiers in tippers is utterly disgraceful. |

Tochex101: Just learning it's Blue on Blue.....the loss is too great. Someone must take blame...... They should stop dressing and driving soldiers like they are insurgents and terrorists. Let's start from there. |

Fynline: Unfortunately, latest information on this incident points to a Blue-on-Blue "Friendly fire" incident. No Insurgent was identified in the vicinity of the force at the initial stage of the encounter. A trained Helic pilot who the Tactical Air Controller was among the casualties. Nigerian troops need to stop driving around like insurgents. Why won't there be a blue on blue incident. There are so many armoured vehicle manufacturers, uniform and kit manufacturers, in nigeria yet nothing to show for it. |

jln115: 7kg blast under the Hull and 12kg under any wheel...... Thats decent protection
Any idea how it compares to the ARA? No idea how it compares to the ARA, but with these numbers, I believe favourably. Although the ARA provides better all round crew comfort. |

EZUGWU MRAPs produced by the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria and Command Engineering Depot (DICON-CED) can withstand small arms fire and a 7kg TNT explosion. Each of its wheels can withstand a 12kg TNT explosion. The Mine-Resistant, Ambush-Protected (MRAP) vehicles can carry a 12.7 mm Gun and a 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun.
The all-terrain all-wheel-drive vehicle has an independent suspension system that allows it to move through smooth and rough terrain. Ezugwu armored vehicles will carry a crew of 12, including a commander, driver, two gunners, and eight soldiers. Powering this locally made mobile bunker is a Chinese-sourced WD615 turbo diesel engine.

jln115: Namibia No?? Bro they make some of the best MRAPs on the continent!!!
Do your research mate
You make a fair point with regards to Algeria though! There is nothing like "the best MRAP". There's a general rule of thumb with making MRAPs. I have never seen a Namibian MRAP. |

Sizzorkay: How are these skinny doors armored? Or am i missing something here? Those flat skinny rear doors can survive IED blasts? This is a serious question, not throwing shade, was expecting them to be bulkier than what am looking at We use Chobam armour for the Ezugwu MRAP APC. Light arms cannot penetrate the armour if the Ezugwu. Photos attached. When taking into account the result of test carried out, the Ezugwu is pretty adequate.

slimthugchimee2: Whoelse noticed that ezugwu mkII no longer uses that nail screws(correct me if I'm wrong) that someone here criticized it on? Those things are add-on armour. If you saw the video of the launch of the Ezugwu last year, you would see the vehicle comfortably taking ak-47 bullets at 1 meter ranges. Point blank range. |
