Nigerian made ship, NNS Oji during construction.
Nigeria in the coming weeks is set to launch locally manufactured helicopter.

President Muhammadu Buhari has given a fresh challenge to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Kaduna to complete work on the ongoing manufacturing of the first Nigerian-made Helicopter before the end of his administration.

Why do soldiers do this?

Is it a result of pressure, exhaustion or a lack of training?

Gruesome Mozambique video investigated

Video on social media seemingly showing South African soldiers complicit in burning bodies has drawn the comment “despicable” from the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) with an investigation underway.

Just wondering, how do Nigerian army maintain the various different MRAPs from different manufacturers.
While the Ezugwu is made in Nigeria, MRAPs are built from commercially available parts.

There's nothing difficult in building or maintaining them.

I'm not interested in us getting new types of Frontline jets

I'm just after the numbers. And not only that, but the full infrastructure for Air defence (GCI radars and SAM networks)

NA remains the arm that hasn't shown us they have foresight

On the issue of SF, the war in Europe is not a good indices for requirements of SF in Nigeria
I don't see the Nigerian army investing in significant air Defence at the moment. I don't think that area has even been considered yet.

The Nigerian army hasn't really shown any foresight, army communication has also been really poor. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the 400 armoured vehicles procured looks like.

The war in Europe, especially in the area of Special Forces has shown that the Nigerian army needs highly mobile assault teams that can deploy a mix of skills to deal with evolving threats.

That's why I think it is important we grow and add more special units to the Nigerian military.

Man, this would make the F7 deadlier
We all know the F-7 received serious upgrades in China, this is the first time we are seeing reports of what the upgrades look like.

The fact is NAF F-7NI fighter jets are now one of the most modern F-7s in the world.

This is the reason why I don't think the Nigerian Air Force would be investing in any Frontline fighter jets.

I think attention needs to be paid to the army, training, re-training and re-equipping.

The video we saw of NDA cadets training shows that the officers of the Nigerian army are well trained, however the bulk of the army which is the "rank & file", I'm not convinced they receive adequate training.

From the war in Ukraine, we can see that the Nigerian army needs many more special forces units. Same thing has to happen with the Navy and Air Force. The SBS and Panther units are inadequate.

We need to also look at Frontline fighting equipment, Tanks, IFVs, AFVs, artillery and Tank Destroyers.

MRAPs are cool, but you can't win wars with APCs.

I just hope we get to see an improvement in the training, personnel protective equipment and hardware upgrade of our Army.

6 Billion USD is no joke!!

Same thing I've pondering about this while. The F-7Ni Airguards were extensively upgraded and together with the JF 17s, they've formed a squadron. The A29 tucanos will be at the forefront of COIN operations with mop up support from combat helicopters and drones, while the incoming M346FA will serve as back up for the light attack and fighter jets on ground. So there is no assurance that combat aircrafts will be coming in anytime soon apart from the already ordered ones.
From this upgrade we got, we can bury any hope of buying Fighter jets for the foreseeable future.

It means NAF F-7NI are one of the, if not the most up to date F-7 fighter jets anywhere in the world.

12 F-7 and 3 JF-17 means we have a squadron.

Air policing, Air Defense and Air Interdiction would be carried out buy these jets.

The Super Tucanos would be responsible for CAS, supported by the Alpha Jets , that is until they Alpha Jets retire.

The M346F/A would eventually fulfill ground attack, Surveillance and multi role missions for the Nigerian Air Force.

The T-129 ATAK and Bell AH-1Z would provide Rotary wing CAS and ISR.

All our UCAVs would be tasked with Reconnaissance, ISR and Air Interdiction mission support.

It is simply had to see where a new Frontline fighter jet fits in.

I agree with you, this is the upgrade Nigerian Air Force F-7NI fighters got according to an insider.

This is not confirmed yet, but seems really plausible.

The Nigerian Air Force has shown no interest in this Aircraft, it's just fan-boys like us that keep wishing we get them. grin grin

However I really doubt NAF would purchase this any fighter jets soon, especially with the purchase of the M-346F/A.

Maybe you should have not brought in a topic and labeled it "leftish and liberal"...... yes, we do change the world in the "corner of Nairaland" by endorsing (or not) ideologies, the internet is the no.1 source of information and misinformation. ..... Look at you, you have a whole ideology stuck in your head based on someone's misinformation.

You asked what Liberal (Left) policies did for Africa.

1. Ended and banned the slave trade
2. Supported the end of colonisation
3. Supported the end of Apartheid

The idea that a Black-man could be free is a Liberal "leftish" idea...... otherwise, you're a N#gro (animal) to the Right.
It's not that deep.

This interaction was already closed since yesterday.

It is completely irrelevant going back to a topic I have no interest in.

Are you aware of how much money was committed during the US Africa summit? Over 20 billion.

Do you know how blacks and liberals in general supported Nigeria during the End Sars protests?

Are you aware that it was a liberal government (Biden) that removed Trump's ban on immigration for Nigerians?

Are you aware that it was a liberal government (Biden) that just removed the 2 year visa limits for Nigerians?

Do you know that it was a liberal government (Obama) that initiated the power Africa initiative to assist energy initiatives across Sub-saharan Africa.

I don't need to go on and on.

I see you love to argue with people on issues you have no idea about. Maybe you should listen to what GreenandGold has told you.
I see you have a problem with your brain.

"Liberal" is the yang of "Conservative"....

Conservative ideologies is/was the root of all African colonial problems.
That's the thing, I don't care much for both.

Liberals and Conservatives are the exact same thing, pushing left wing or right wing ideology at the expense of Africans.

Liberals wear masks while doing it, Conservatives are much more openly racist.

Doesn't change the fact they are both doing it.
