jokobaba: University of Ibadan admits "non-MBBS" guys for MPH too. you have to be very realistic with your chances. people talk about jobs with international organisations but i promise you they are extremely difficult to get, really difficult. it is not impossible though. you could look out for chances outside Nigeria too. check this link for scholarship opportunities
https://www.nairaland.com/904161/links-scholarships-post-doc-job-opportunities
Dont be deceived, public health does not sell like hot cake. that was probably in the past but the market is flooded now with people with MPH degrees (foreign and local). you really have to consider your chances. so what do you advice? Recommendations pls |

chmod777: young man, you make yourself in Niaja education not the schools. How many of YOU who have said one university or the other have studied in any of the two, three , four schools. Common piple ! get civilized. Who have . ??
I studied in one of the schools mentioned and during my nysc, I attended an international conference in one of the "biggest schools". I made a technical professional presentation. But to my greatest surprise of the Nigerians in the diaspora and my own poor self , we were all disappointed at the level of naivety shown by the professors of the host "BIG" university in the presentations.
Their student rushed to me during lunch and said " Sir you are indeed young, how can we get up to this your level because we are not well exposed in this university "? we have only a practical where we all are interested in writing our report to get our grades. When I told them I studied in Nigeria and that I was a corp member, THE NEVER BELIEVED ME.
Be wise and be ready to (1 study to pass exams for certificate 2) do a personal development because the universities leave u with crap.
Mind you, Now I leave and work in EU after msc over here. And how relevant is this to the topic at hand?? Empty vessels clanging their loudest |

Redpoet: After applying for accommodation, the woman at the S.A.D told me to pay the fees at the bank and then come back with a photocopy of the teller and 3 passports, but when I got there some returning students discouraged me from paying; they said that I have to apply then wait for a list after 2 weeks before going to the bank to pay. I'm just confused, does this apply to freshers too? If it does, then why did the woman ask me to go and pay? Please I'll appreciate some answers. follow instructions o o o o . go and pay at the bank. some returning students can be a bit misinforming. |

Redpoet: @sirkelvin, I'm sorry i didnt reply earlier. It was just the screening that I did today, just showed them my jamb slip, post utme result, recommendation letter, certificate of origin, birth certificate, acceptance receipt and statement of result. I was then issued a small document ie Authority to pay. I was also given another document on which the procedures for registration were properly outlined. About the fees, it varies with the department. Like now for my department, Biochemistry, the 1st semester school fees is NGN 36,250 while 2nd semester is NGN 21,500, so its best to walk down to the bursary and check the fees for your own department. I think the school fees contains all those tiny fees you mentioned, except accommodation which is NGN 8,500. Sounds like someone that has been following this thread all along. |

After having a cross interaction with some freshers this morning, I have come to discover that Nairaland freshers stand a 101% chance of having a very successful registration and academic year. At this juncture, what shall I say?? Dont be selfish with information. Help your colleagues succeed too. Be thirsty for information. It would provide that quantum leap you desire. As a student, my gross earnings from scholarships alone amount over N650,000 per session. How?? Information. And learn to love God too. No matter how informed you are, if God is not there to favour you- you're struggling in vain. As for us Nairalanders, something very special is gonna happen this session. I was thinking- how would it look like if every UniUyo Nairalander had at least one scholarship Think about it- cos it's definitely gonna happen. Btw, Goodluck Guys and have a successful registration exercise |
