Double Congratulations to your PPR and Pregnancy!

In my opinion, raise a webform, attach your last scan result and your due date.
Please relax and have your baby here, i dont want to imagine the stress of having a baby in a new land without social support, it will be tough dear.

When you give birth, inform IRCC again and they will add baby to your application and reissue your PPR, By then, Baby will have matured small and you too would have healed.

With all the love in my heart, please dont attempt to travel now!

This is the most sensible suggestion. Assuming her due date is in a month time

• There’s no guarantees she would get her stamped passport in a month. Even if she decides to use Accra direct or Cairo, she might experience an exceptional delay.

• A lot of airlines will not allow you to fly in your last trimester, especially with a very close due date. More so , air travel is now an extreme sport with all the COVID tests and country specific requirements like quarantine etcetera.

From recent trends, as long as her application is finalized, adding an extra dependent will not overly delay the application compared to those whose application are still in processing.

Better to have her child here with peace of mind. IRCC will always reissue PPR for sure.

No one is talking about FBN because nothing unusual is happening there.
First Bank just doing its own thing.

Definitely they will pay dividend but don't expect something fantastic. There could be surprises though.

They might pay 80-90k. Definitely not a surprise, their former mates are now paying N3 dividend per year.

Chai! Oga Tony don carry our money go buy oil wells, sha there are consequences for bad behaviour grin Even dead FBNH might pay between 80-90k in dividend this year (I'm 70% certain of this but don't take my word as I could be wrong too).

Thankful for Zenith and GTB (in anticipation). Access fit surprise us too join, positively or negatively grin

Okay thanks but do you feel in my case i need to retain the lawyer?

You’d have to rely on your discretion to choose the best approach.

A lawyer will probably advise on your chances and maybe help you with drafting a detailed letter of explanation to be included in your application.

Thanks do you know any good immigration lawyer you recommend I don’t want to be in the same problem again

You can check online, you’d see immigration lawyers with good reviews.

If you decide to go ahead with the consultation, don’t reveal a lot of personally identifiable information, in that way you can walk back if you change your mind about retaining the services of an immigration lawyer.

Hello everyone, Am new here i need your help, have made some bad decisions using an agent for traveling, i applied to Canada (student visa) through an agent who ask me to send my siblings/children names and dob which i did and he said that he would not list all my siblings because the sponsor is my dad that it going to raise a red flag so he listed 3 instead of 5 still i was denied visa, so he applied for US again but this time he said since i don’t have travel history that he is going to help put one Africa country which he put the stamp on my old passport and US visa was still denied so i stop working with him 3 years ago, a friend of my introduce me to express entry and said i can do it myself that i should check nairaland for help...SO PLEASE EVERYONE I NEED HELP
So has am gathering all documents I decided to other gcms to know what went wrong with my application then, lo and behold i saw it in my gcms note that I don’t have kids.
-Please house what can i do to avoid being ban for misinterpretation because i would like to add my kids to application and list all my siblings
-Please as for the fake sticker it on my old passport not the one am applying with i intend not to add it to my travel history but am scared USA and Canada might share information...please help me gurus and everyone in the house

You’ve made a mistake, don’t flog yourself too much.
Before you start your application, consult an immigration lawyer in Canada and share your details. They will advise you on the way forward. This will surely cost some money but it’s better than shooting blindly by yourself and compounding your problems.

Good luck.

Yep. A very huge one. I actually tried to, but some of my friends that were interested were broke and the ones that were not broke were not interested. Lol, life!

Funny thing when this MTN thing was spreading around, some of them started calling me and all. Lol, what a life. By then though I was so pissed because I knew I will never buy at 90 naira, nor any further increase from there. Many more opportunities will come, I hope.

Such is life,win some,lose some.

What if it's the same people that are selling are the same people buying to keep on pumping the price high, since their daily gain and movement is far greater than the buying and selling commission. And they will only release some to the SEC boss, NSE boss, Stockbroking boss and Interested politicians. 49 deals that I saw yesterday mean that, it was about 49 people they sell to.

This is a grand conspiracy. grin
I’d be terrified if that is actually the true state of things re MTN shares. That said, whatever is happening is totally expected when you do listing by introduction for a profit machine like MTN.

I tried to buy MTN private equity via Stanbic last year or so, (you would be given a login, like their asset management account etc, there is a special link to it in their asset management site), but one of the rules was being worth over or have 100,000 USD to get in, unfortunately for the broke me I didn't have this. It was actually kinda in plain sight.

Lol!

That was a huge miss!
You could have crowd funded $100k with friends, set up a company/investment vehicle and you are good to go. Everyone gets equity commensurate to his USD contribution.

On Stanbic IBTC shareholding in MTN. One thing you might note is that a lot of the shares belong to beneficial owners ~ politically exposed persons and some other HNI who would not want their name appear in print for specific reasons. Osinbajo and some other OGs are shareholders but you don’t see their names appear on that list.

You might have also noticed that big men form new companies/investment vehicles just for specific investments. I will detail on this later.

Beneficial ownership, nominees and trusts is the way rich OGs roll!

Decent analysis, you detailed here.

What do you have to say about Eti bank over their decision not to pay dividend over some time now? I understands that they want to build financial buffer that will position them in a viable financial state but do you think there is more to it? Is there any impending shock you think one might encounter in trailing their investment trajectory.

I don’t know how long you’ve been following ETI but if you remember a few years ago there we’re allegations of financial impropriety (outright stealing actually) and cooking of books leveled against the board members and guess what, a disgruntled senior executive was the whistle blower who reported to SEC.Actually, the board members advanced loans to themselves and wrote it off as bad loans in addition to other underhand stuffs

SEC tried to come in and clean things so I don’t know how they are doing now but corporate governance failure is a huge thing to be worried about.A look at their financials for 2-3yrs will tell you what is happening there and guide you towards making a good investment decision.

FBNH resisted the bears again today. Positive developments are taking place in the bank, as it gradually addresses its NPL. There will be significant NPL improvement this year (less than 10%) which will dramatically affect books

FBNH has like another 3-4 yrs before it fully recovers.Normally,if you are an SIB and your NPL is above 5% upwards to alarming levels,CBN will invite you to present a 4yr remediation plan which I think FBNH did in 2015.

As you rightly pointed out ,the books will improve this year but that’s just halfway through the journey. This year,FBNH will likely write off over N300bn from their loan books due to Atlantic energy. For proper context, FBNH has made total NPL provisions of over 500bn since 2015 but yet, this huge amount only gives just over 80% (about 70,if you use IFRS 9) coverage ratio, this is really unprecedented in the history of Nigerian banking industry, smaller banks would not survive this ~ the rot is really deep.

If you look at their 2018 audited results, you will realize that NPL increased to about 29% from 25% . Why? The implementation of IFRS 9 which provides for proactive loan provisioning. With this accounting standard, there’s another N200bn of loans which has been moved to stage 2 (payments of interest and principal missed for 9months or so).

With the possible write off this year, NPL ratio will come down to manageable single digit but the bank will require more capital which means they will have to retain a lot of their profits and pay less dividend for a few yrs cos they can’t even come to raise Tier 1 from the market ~ they already have the biggest number of shares among listed banks and the current pricing is not favorable. As a matter of fact , the GMD of FBNH admitted that the bank (First bank) will not upstream dividend to the holding company except they make a significant recovery from their bad loans.

I have a positive bias for the current management, they are not afraid to let you know how bad things are ,which is good cos they were hired to clean up the mess. I believe in a few yrs when they are done with the transformation, the bank will come out stronger and will reward investors by way of capital appreciation and dividends . But there’s something very Nigerian (apologies) about FBNH that tells me that in a few years, probably in 5yrs time, after the current management might have left, the bank will return to old ways of sharing the “national cake” like we do in Nigeria. To avert this , the culture of the bank needs to change to one of excellence and efficiency like their peer GTB.

On current prices,if I’m to invest in any Nigerian bank with the aim of making my return in less than 10yrs , I’d put my money in Zenith ~ heck it’s 14% dividend yield and they are sitting on tonnes of cash by way of shareholders funds, I only worry a little about their corporate governance and their inability/reluctance to crack retail banking. That explains why investors price them a lot lesser than GTB.

If I want to make my return in 15yrs without checking the NSE everyday and probably retain some hope of transferring equity to my grandchildren, then GTB is it. But it doesn’t come cheap because ,no be only me dey see am, institutional investors wan die there!

There could be other good banks, but I’m sorry they are not on my radar for now.

Apologies I had to quote you with this long epistle, I only wanted to write briefly about FBNH but I found myself delving to other things.

Or will they force you out of the airport same day you arrive to go and rent a hotel till the next day?

You can chill at the airport while you wait for your flight. You can also go into NYC and have a feel of the town if you wish. You get free wifi at JFK for 30mins or so after which you have to pay.

Misleading? You are the one misleading here. The bolded for one is a lie from the pit of hell. Stop the reference to fictitious people. From part 1 to part 11 of this thread, thousands of posts, no one ever claimed to receive full funding with that score. Please don't stand in the way of others success. She clearly has the ability to do better, encourage her to do so otherwise she will be here this time next year lamenting on securing admissions without funding.

You are obviously very ignorant to think people cannot secure funding with that profile and despite validation from other people on the possibility you are still arguing and pontificating like you know what goes on in all the grad schools in the US.

It's even funnier when you mention this thread as evidence to support your claim.Do you really think all prospective applicants from Nigeria pass through nairaland? lol.

A GRE score of 294 with a GPA of 4.22/5.00 is a disgrace. No school will take her serious, especially for funding. Her only bet are schools that do not accept GRE scores. Or rewrite GRE and score over 310.

This is false and misleading.I know people with less than stellar profiles (GRE and CGPA) who got full funding. If she can rewrite the GRE,it increases her chances, at least with top schools, but even with her current profile,a lot of schools can still offer her full funded admission.

It's left for her to aim higher or settle for less.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone here to assume you are male, not even from your moniker.

I think most of the males here and in the larger Nigerian society do not consciously think that a Nigerian lady can be this intelligent, educated and assertive. So their default reaction is to assume it must be a guy.You have unkowningly conducted a social experiment with interesting results that reinforces the long held view that the Nigerian society is patriarchal and women are seen as lesser beings compared to their male counterparts.

If it's masters in a different program, makes sense. But same program as your previous one would need a lot of convincing. In any case, every application is treated on its own merit. If you can prove that you dont have immigrant intent and your reason for chosing the program sounds convincing to you, then you should be able to convince the VO.

Good day, everybody.

I noticed that people who got approved so far have had some form of work experience. I understand that being successful at the visa interview depends on your ability to give a plausible reply to questions asked. My case however, seems dicey:

Finished first degree 2013, went for NYSC, 2014. Enrolled for Masters, finished 2016. Now I've been offered admission into another Masters degree. I hear this is a red flag. How can I make a strong argument to defend my going to the US for another Masters? Also, would it hurt my chances that I have no work experience?

True. Many Deltans of the true old Delta province fought against the Asaba capital location but it has come to stay and there is nothing we can do about it at all. We just have to deal with it. Agbor/Kwale/Ughelli/Abraka are more central locations for the capital rather than Asaba. Any visitor who visits Asaba for the first time will assume ALL DELTANS are IGBOS because of the Igbo-factor in Asaba.

Our only hope is that Anioma State be created and the capital moved. Until then, Asaba remains our capital for better or worse.

More or less you are saying the Anioma people are not welcomed in the current delta set up?

Is location the most important factor in siting a state capital?

Conflict of interest, yes. But doesn't erase the fact that Skye bank was/is badly managed. If the bank was healthy CBN wouldn't have intervened.

The problem of skye is suspicious, just know that the head of amcon is former MD of the bank that was acquired by skye bank.

Nothing suspicious here.Skye and FBNH did a lot of risky lending to politically exposed persons in the last administration.Even the directors of both banks were cutting deals and stealing from their banks.

The difference now is that Skye cannot absorb the shock cos it's a small bank punching above it's weight.FBNH is barely struggling to survive and will go the way of Skye if they repeat the mistake of the last few years.
