God expressly says to Obey our parents, though it seems there is a caveat, 'in the Lord'. This means as far as it does not contradict God's will, we are allowed to go as far as we can to show our honor for our parents.
Quite unfortunately, many in the world allow their feelings to dictate of they will honor their parent, that ought not to be so. God is a God of hierarchy, He is not an author of confusion. And in God's plan parents are king, they are at the apex of the chain of command. Learn from Judah.

Procrastination is the arch nemesis of opportunity.
It is one thing to put of an act because of inability and another to do so because of laziness.
God has clearly expressed His dislikes for laziness many times in the scripture.
Let's not take the above passage contextually but at face value, for the sake of the lesson out teaches.
Procrastination is one of the major tools the devil uses to rob believers of their blessing and of course, unbelievers of their salvation.

Today, we are not here to debate on the morality of Joseph's actions, we are here for another matter.
No matter how high or how well accomplished or even how dejected you are, always remember your dreams. Don't lose sight of your goal, and once you see an opportunity to push it through don't miss it.
A popular saying is "Opportunity cometh but once". I don't know nor care about the veracity of that quote but what I do know is that God is a God of opportunities, they say "Heaven helps those who help themselves". It may or may not be true, again not important what is important is grabbing hold of God's promises which are the main component of any worthwhile dream and hold fast the God given chance to achieve it.

Dear Followers of Christ,
Much has been said about dreams from time immemorial. Sadly despite the emphasis placed, many continue to underestimate the importance of this mystical phenomenon. For a good reason though.
But that not withstanding, dreams are not things to be played with. In the case of the above scripture, the fate of Millions hinged on the dream of a single person. In retrospect, Joseph was able to attain his height because of dreams, directly or indirectly, his life was a series of interweaving dreams both of his and of others.
Another crucial factor to be noted from the passage is that, dreams and their interpretations come from God. Don't take any dream lightly, it may be a signal to your upliftment or a herald of doom, each has their own differing ways of being addressed, all according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The story of Joseph is a popular one. God loves a man with a righteous heart. Determine to be that for God. I am not certain on how long Joseph spent in Potiphar's house or in the prison, but I'm sure he had a lot of time to think and reflect. He could have chosen to hate, his brothers, Potiphar's wife, Potiphar and do on. But since he wasn't living for them, he decided to let them go and focus his attention on who he served.
Let that be your conviction today.

Lots of time, people misunderstand and misinterpret God as being one dimensional, either as good or as bad. The way to correct this misunderstanding is to change the way You see God, don't look at Him as a creation, rather as The Creator. Recognize His sovereignty and absoluteness. He has the right to decide and take appropriate judgement for any circumstance. He decides what is right and what is wrong.
Another thing to note is that everything has a purpose, whether it is obvious or not God's Judgement is The best possible.

No matter how much of a 'tattletale' Joseph was, His brothers would not have killed him, but when you compound the love his Father had for him with his domineering dreams, envy was kindled and that led to what it led to.
Never fall into the pit of envy, Cain fell into it and he didn't have a good result. Neither did the brothers of Joseph.
All the same, divine ordination is a tricky thing to understand. Every great man has storms to weather, but let not that storm be You.

Ordinary people may find it impossible to reconcile the image of The desperate Esau who was bawling for literally crumbs of his Father's blessings because he was outsmarted by his junior brother with the imposing Esau who was so immensely wealthy that he could birth a nation even as a foreigner in the land.
One thing that is obvious in life is the non-obviousness of the labor a person puts in inorder to succeed, sure, success is a delicate recipe derived from myriad ingredients but still personal effort should not be looked lightly on.
A reason many people get envious of successful people of because they fail to see the hours of desperate effort put into a thing before success can be achieved, they only see the bed of roses, not the path of thorns.
One thing to note is that, doing the exact same thing a successful person did does not necessarily guarantee you will succeed. If life is an objective examination (choose the correct option) then everyone is given different exam questions. We all are assigned different roles in this strategy game called life, a firefighter won't get the same training a farmer will get. I hope you get my point.
Put aside envy and don't try to blindly copy others. Work on Yourself... Leave the rest to God, I assure You, You will be surprised.

The passage above contains a vital message in communion with God.
God is a Holy God, who cannot stand the sight of sin. Therefore those who are to come before Him must be Holy too. In the old testament, sacrifices of animals would suffice to atone sin. But in the new order, the blood of Jesus has been given once and for all.
But it's still amazing how people still ignore or are ignorant of this truth. When seeking an audience with God, a pure heart is necessary, one that is free from distractions and evil thoughts, it may be hard but sincerity goes a long way.

I can't help drawing few parallels between the above mentioned situation and the situation between the Jews and the Gentile Church. The Bible is full of Easter eggs that it's crazy to look past.
I won't condemn anyone in the above passage because the matter is very complex. For example, Later on, God gave a command that the Israelites are not to intermarry with the heathen. So in a way the sons of Jacob were pardonable in their actions. Also, I get the feeling that the consent of both parties weren't really sought out? I mean if two people agree they are free to marry right?
Anyway, what we have to say today is never judge any situation by face value.

Many people are conversant with the story of Jacob, but few can boast the same of Esau, the Bible isn't very detailed about it either.
But from the little we are provided with, it is obvious that Esau was a person that would push as had as he could as far as there was even a sliver of a chance.
Don't be content with Your lot, strive to go farther, strive to go higher, yesterday was about the struggle of Jacob, today's about Esau.
Life is not fair, only the strong have the right to get what they deserve. Serve God, that is the right way to get power, do it with all you have.

The above is a very funny and familiar passage... It tells of the tales of Jacob in Laban's house. They both schemed, counterschemed, and deceived each other.
But alas, God intervened as He has been known for, He put an end to this seeming never ending cycle.
Never use your position of authority to oppress, never even oppress, no matter what wrongs have been done to you, remember that God is the ultimate superior, nothing escapes His eyes and He will surely bring a just reward.
Learn from Laban, treat everyone justly.

The parallels which can be drawn in the lives of the patriarchs are honestly pretty scary.
A similar occurrence to the above passage was recorded to transpire between Esau and Jacob, where Jacob tricked Esau into selling his birthright. Let's not even start on the issue of barrenness.
But we thank God that God is not a God of negatives and no positives. He is a helper of the downtrodden and He came around according to his time.

Life is cyclic as much as it is linear. Jacob would probably have never thought that the seed he sowed in Esau's life would bear him for in this manner. Even though he ran from his father's house all the way to a distant country he deeds still followed him.
Brethren, we can borrow a leaf from this. This is a very adept proof of the principle of sowing and reaping. Whatever you do, keep in mind that a harvest is coming and prepare yourself for that harvest.

If you are using the reactions of people as a benchmark, there are different levels of blessings.
A few are revealed in this chapter of the Bible.
The first here is the envy attracting blessing, this kind of blessing usually creates more enemies than friends. A lot of people are overwhelmed at this stage and fail to progress past this. This ought not to be so.
Another level is the helplessness/conviction level. In this stage, people realize that plots and schemes are useless against you because of the overwhelming blessings of God, hence they become helpless and have no choice but to make peace with your because they are convinced that God is with You.
It is my prayer today that each and everyone of us shall experience the fullness of God's blessings.

The scripture above has a wide range of interpretations, let's see a few of them.
Before this, according to this chapter, Isaac was childless for twenty years, pretty similar to Abraham's situation... The Bible says He pleaded with God, that means twenty years of prayers. Most would have succumbed long before then. This itself is a great feat.
Then also it says that God heeded the prayer of Isaac, not of Rebekah, again, this is again similar to the case of Ishmael when He was in the wilderness with his mother. This doesn't mean Rebekah didn't pray, but... There was a very clear hierarchy shown here.
In verse 22, It says, even when there was an answer, there were more complications, the children struggled in Her, sometimes we see things that are not what we expect and start to despair, the solution is seen there, She went to inquire of the Lord. That should be your first reaction to every abnormal circumstance, inquire of the Lord, don't jump to conclusions.

Sometimes this scripture feels fake, Isaac was not, at least according to human knowledge, Abraham's only son. But this passage refers to Isaac as his only son.
I feel that this is a type of prophesy concerning Jesus Christ.
Sometimes we do not know what we will get out of obeying God, so we overlook some of His commands.
If Abraham had known that God was planning to give his son to die for the sins of mankind, I don't know how he would react.
I feel like Abraham was a critical point in the redemption plan of God. If a man can do willingly sacrifice his beloved son, how much more God? This could have been an experiment to see if man was at all worthy of Christ. The mysteries are endless. Only God can do these.

You need a Father.
Lately we've been on the negative ramifications of a person's ancestry, today is on the positive side. Indeed even as a person can be cursed by reason of his ancestry, even without the person necessarily being a bad guy, blessings can also come in this manner.
In Ishmael's case, no one can say He was lucky or unlucky, all he did was play God's part for him. He didn't have to have the faith of his Father, he didn't have to have the relationship with God his Father had, but because he was Abraham's son, he was assured of a great posterity.
Honestly I can't help feeling that no matter what mistake we think we make, it is impossible for your birth to be a mistake, every life is carefully ordained by God, don't envy anyone because of their starting point. God is in control.

Jesus said He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
This scripture is really striking, God actually said He kept a person from sinning against Him, the ramifications of this are huge.
This has been my cry for a long time and this word came as a confirmation. It all makes sense, if a person can be influenced to sin, then a person can be influenced not to Sin.
I believe this is the righteousness that Christ came to give the world, one in which you don't have to depend on yourself alone, you have divine aid. To me this is superior.
Make it a daily prayer to ask for this, God will be faithful.

This passage of the scripture actually stunned me for sometime. Despite the vast population of people in Sodom and Gomorrah, only for fifty people could they be saved... It was later even brought down to ten later.
Never underestimate the power of righteousness, and even more the power of an intercessor. Despite the corruption of the world, the world has yet to be destroyed.
Righteousness added with intercession can do serious wonders in an ordinarily hopeless situation. No matter the wickedness of Your family as long as You are dedicated to righteousness and intercession, there is hope.

I couldn't help bring amazed and stunned at the decisiveness and obedience of Abraham in the issue of circumcision. The scripture says, on the same day as he was told, he got circumcised. I am sure that these is the kind of decisiveness God likes.
God doesn't favor a person who even after clearly hearing the voice of God and knowing His will do good back to debate and argue over it. God loves perfect and precise obedience. The latter days of Abraham can serve as a good Hallmark on what God can do to those who obey Him.

Submission is a very large part of God's will for every follower of His, especially to appropriate authority.
Even Jesus the Christ had to submit to His early parents even though He was practically their God. He also submitted to God Heavenly Father.
Like I've said before, submission is like a catapult to greatness. The greatest is the kingdom is the one who serves most.

Heavenly Father, in the name and authority of Christ Jesus we come to You. We are filled with gratitude and appreciation for who You are and for all You've done. Take glory.

Dear Followers of Christ
God never does anything for free, He has a purpose for everything, if You take this approach, it will be easier to perform interactions with God. Abraham had the mentality of a business man, he understood this principle as seen on the above passage, He knew it was impossible to serve God without receiving a wage.
The issue that comes in is that people lack patience or faith to endure till the time of God's reward. This is why most people miss out.
If you want something from God, you have to be ready to give something, and of course, God operates on His own terms so trust and patience are a must.

Genesis 14:14

One thing we can learn from Abraham, is his staunch sense of brotherhood.
Abraham as we can see here and from yesterday was a peace loving person but he would not allow any one to hurt his relatives.
As descendants of this great person, we should emulate good strengths and eschew his weaknesses. May God give Grace.

Dear God, we are here in Your presence once again in obedience to Your word and in accordance to the sacrifice of Christ Jesus. We thank You for the numerous things You have done, for bringing us into this amazing new year, for Your word, Father Your benefits are too numerous.
We humbly ask for Your forgiveness today, we have sinned against You, we do not deny this, in our words in thought, in deeds. Please have mercy, wash and purge and sanctify us unto You through the sacrifice of Christ.
Please prepare is for Your word, the entrance of Your word bringeth light and understanding to the simple. Let this be so on our lives, cause us to be enlightened and to project You to the word to Your glory. Amen.

God Demands Total Obedience
Dear Followers of Christ,

God told Abraham (Abram) told leave His Father's house and His people to a land that He would show. And He did... But there was a caveat, Abram took Lot, His nephew, in many circumstances, this would have been fine, but, going by the indication and timing of God's appearance in verse 14, we can see that the departure of Lot was a pivotal point in Abraham's life.
When God tells You a thing, He means it in every sense, do your utmost best to obey God's will as the smallest compromise can cost a lot.

Heavenly Father, we bless Your holy name for everything You are and for all You have done, for Your word especially. Serve God with Your intellect

Dear Followers of Christ,
Sometimes I would ponder on why God didn't just make people as robots our something so we can obey Him unconditionally. And while I don't dare say I know, I think one reason is the above mentioned, He wants us to serve Him because we want to, not out of compulsion, Humans are unique in the fact that we have the ability to separate instinctive actions from logical actions, God wants that. Be wants you to use your intuition as well as your thinking faculty. The psalmist says ago that is within me, praise the Lord.

Genesis 9:11,13
[11]Thus I establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

I strongly believe in the theory of cycles, the Bible is evidence to this, The world is now all bad neither is it all good.
There can never be eternal chaos, there must be a counterbalance somewhere. That's why no matter the challenges you may be facing, remember that the same God who kept a remnant from there flood has a plan for your life. Hold fast to God, never lose heart.

Genesis 8:20

Dear Heavenly Father, we are here in Your presence with thanksgiving and gratitude on our hearts, We thank You for your word which we are about to receive today, we ask that You cleanse us internally and externally, purify our hearts and prepare is for the entrance of Your word. Let your word yield maximum increase in our lives even as we hear. Amen.

Dear Followers of Christ
One thing I have learned from this passage is that, sacrifices or let me say thanksgiving sacrifices provoke God to do more for You. God could have just made the waters to recede after the flood and everything would have been well and good, but Noah's burnt offering provoked Him to do more.
Never underestimate the power of appreciating God, no matter how little You think You have, do something for God, He won't disappoint.

Dear Followers of Christ.
Avoid the enemy called normalization.
The fact that something that is very evidently wrong but at the same time is widely regarded as right and acceptable should set off multiple alarm bells and beckons caution.
I have never and will never believe in the theory of more than two sexes. God created make and female, nothing more or less. Anything outside that is a perversion and contradicts God's divine judgement.
As Followers of Christ, no matter where we find ourselves, we have the duty and privilege to uphold the laws and words of God, even if the whole world of against us.

Genesis 4:3,5-7
[3]And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord.
[5]but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.
[6]So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?
[7]If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

Our Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word today which we are about to share, please we ask that You prepare our hearts for the entrance of Your Word, let us be fertile and fruit producing. Don't Let Failure Push You to Sin

Dear Followers of Christ,
It is pretty much common knowledge that when You are doing something new for the very first time, the probability to fall is way higher than they of winning.
But according to the above narrative, this seems to have elided Cain. Maybe Adam had been offering to God, but for the sake of the fact that the first biblical record was Cain's, let's take Cain's as the first offering to God.
Normally when You fail, especially if it is at something You are doing for the first time, You will seek a way to learn so You can do better next time, Cain probably didn't do it, under the influence of emotions, maybe envy, anger or frustration He killed his only brother at the time and He brought a curse upon Himself.
The Bible is written in such a way that we can interact with many different characters and circumstances so we can learn from other people's experiences. Don't abuse this privilege.

[18]And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

Dear Father, in the name of Jesus we come into your presence today with gladness, appreciation and great expectation.
Please cleanse us of all filth of all uncleanness and sin, so we can worship You acceptably.
