Without an intermediary, the wrath of God will burn hot and consume even His people. The worth of intercessors in the course of humanity cannot be overstated.
God has called every believer in the Lord Jesus as Kings and Priests. Rev 5:10. And the main function of a priest is to intercede, to serve as an interface between God and man. Lev. 5&6 talks somewhat about that. We as followers of Christ owe this duty to humanity, we can't just sit back in apathy as God consumes His creation, because we aren't the ones that sinned. We are more than that.
I feel God knew how important this task was and that man would not be able to carry it out to maximum effect, so He gave Jesus that responsibility Heb. 5,6,7 etc. Jesus is constantly making intercession to the Father, and by the fact that the world has yet to be destroyed, I say He has done a very good job.
But that doesn't mean we should be lax and relent, no, instead we are to double down and do better to make our selves worthy of our calling.
Candidly, on the present day and age, living a holy life is not enough... Far from it. They is so much more to following Christ. And they are encoded in the Word of God.
May God give us strength and grace to carry out His will. Amen.

There are some other purposes for which gifts are given, but, we are focusing on the above mentioned.

Holiness is synonymous with righteousness to some extent. Holiness beautifies and glorifies a person. I think one of the reasons God is so renowned in His greatness, glory and beauty is because of His holiness. And God wants us to be like Him.
If even an earthly ornament of to give glory, how much more the real thing. I can't imagine the splendor Adam and Eve commanded before their fall. The undiluted Glory of God.
Heaven will be so dazzling, won't miss it for the world.

The Tabernacle and it's contents as we have come to know, were symbols, shadows. You can call them allegories or references to the things to come.
The above passage can be seen as an allegory to the relationship between purity and the manifestation of the Spirit of God in a person.
When a person lives a pure and righteous life, it is likened to pure olive oil, the lamp light is a likening to the manifestation the Spirit of God. For the Spirit of God to manifest continually in a person, among other factors, Holiness is a must. You can't pass water through a dirty pipe and expect it to come out clean.
Yes, the Spirit of God is a purifying agent, but there is a place and situation for that. For the Spirit of God to manifest for special purposes like working out signs and wonders and other related things, a clean vessel or passage way is required. That's why if you see a person who claims to be a Christian and is working signs and wonders but lives in sin run far away. Jesus said "...by their fruits You shall know them."

Sometimes I ask why the most holy had to be separated from the holy place. Here are a few reasons we got through the Spirit of God.
- It was a manifestation of the relationship between God and man at the time. Man had to actively come to God, unlike in our time in which God became flesh to dwell in us.
- God was fundamentally separate from man and that separation could not be easily bridged.
- The mercy seat was located inside the Most Holy place and this was covered with a veil, this gives a general outline of the attitude of God concerning the sins of the people. There was little to no mercy for sin. Everything had to pay for it's sin.
- It symbolized that something was still behind the scene waiting to make a debut. Something was being prepared like a bride under a veil to be presented to the groom.
Nothing God does is meaningless.

Truth is that your state of mind is more than or as important as your offering. There is reason why the widow's mite is so renowned.
One other thing that stands out from the passage is the intricacy and thought that God puts into his actions, nothing takes Him by surprise, the more you study His actions the more you are become amazed at the wisdom. Honestly, pretty much nothing can convince me of the inexistence of God, if nothing else, the Bible is more than enough proof of His existence.
Remember the jewelry the Israelites got from the Egyptians, even something as insignificant as that had a place in God's plan. Trust in Him.

Loving Father, thank You for the privilege of life which You have endowed in us, we are grateful and we adore You forever.
Father please we ask for the Spirit of God, even as we read and study Your Word, till us with insight, understanding, wisdom and all discerning into Your Word, reveal Yourself to us and cause us to go in Your ways always. Take all the glory. Now and forever.

Dear Followers of Christ,
Through out the Bible, one thing is clear, God wants and loves to have a close and intimate relationship with His creation, especially Man, His masterpiece.
God has gone to great length to bridge the gap of mortality, and even the gap of sin, we wants to be best friends with you.
One defining feature of good friends of that they spend quality time together. They enjoy each other's presence and seek after it. The passage above can be interpreted that way too, God wanted Moses not just to enter his presence, but to stay there too.
Hear the psalmist "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
Psalms 23:6 NKJV".
This is God's desire for all his works and it should be ours too.
