However you cant get exactly 179AH as batteries are manufactured in 7.5AH, 20AH, 40AH, 65AH, 100AH, 80AH,150AH, 200AH etc.

So, you can go for 100AH connected in parallel with 80AH.

I will however advice that you double the needed battery size you require to enjoy your set-up. So go for 400AH or 300AH if you can afford it. If you can't afford it, use a minimum of 200AH. I recommended 400Ah because it's usually better that at the end of the day, your battery isn't too exhausted.

if you use 200AH battery, With minimum of 400Watt solar panel, in 20A Solar charge controller, you can always smile with power!

If you are financially buoyant enough to afford 400AH battery, use 800watt solar panel. This set-up is quite expensive. I will advice you reduce the number of hours you want your appliances on, or buy lower wattage appliances, e.g instead of 11watt bulb, you can buy 5watt. there are 20watt ceiling fans now!

bro, I just proved it works. I knew you must fall into the first two weeks in February. Same as my younger brother. First, no, I don't do TV right from time. My laptop has always been my TV and DVD. My fan is 30 Watts, and I factored that into the fridge.

My laptop is the only device I need to be on for most of the time; at least 15 hours. Fridge can be on for 5 hours daily.
Bulbs only come on at night, and that's just 3 of them at a time (33 watts for 11 hours).

You have still not answered my question. ok, let me simplify it, do it this way: light 33watts for 11 hours, laptop 65watt for 7hours, fan 30watts for 12hours etc. multiply each and total all. that should give you Xwatthours. where X=total watt times hours for each appliance

I need to build another unit. Very low cost.
My power needs 5 energy saver bulbs (55 watts total), 1 70 watts laptop, 1 200 watts fridge. Total power need 325 Watts.

Light here is terrible (twice a week) and I am used to fan so I dey run gen steady.

My generator is 3.1 kva so I can still use that to charge.

Which low end setup can I use for this? With time I will buy more things for the apartment. Thanks.

First, your total power need is obviously more than 325watts. won't you use TV and DVD? how about your fan?
Second, you MUST tell us how many hours you want each appliance to run.

Then do you simple calculation, i.e Watt X hours to give us the total watt hours

When you arrive at the total watt hours, divide your answer by 12v to get the needed battery size

when you get the needed battery size, multiply that answer by 3 to get the needed solar panel required to charge it FULLY on daily basis.

So, now you can boast of 24hour power supply from the sun!
