Veteran comic actor, Chika Okpala, better known as ‘Zebrudaya’, has said that foreign television channels like Telemundo and Zee World have won Nigerian fans over to the detriment of local channels.

He said due to this, indigenous drama series were being ignored.

“Foreign soaps like Mexican soaps, Telemundo, the Zee World and the rest of them have flooded our TV screens now and our indigenous TV drama series are suffering. Those popular programmes the New Masquerade, Cockcrow at Dawn, The Village headmaster and others were left to slip away.”



The legendary actor disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria. He added that the lack of sponsorship has hindered production of most television series in the country.

The 68-year-old actor also noted that old TV series were left abandoned because sponsors withdrew.

He said: “The dwindling economy is the major problem of production in the country and lack of sponsorship has contributed to the dearth of programmes on Television stations in the country.”

The actor expressed optimism that if those programmes were still being aired, actors, actresses, producers, directors and many Nollywood practitioners would be employed and people would be entertained also.

“The private sector complained about the economy and without the economy being vibrant, you cannot push the programmes forward.

“People cannot do productions without it yielding something substantial to take care of their families.

“If you engage an artiste and he performs for free today, tomorrow he may not because he has to pay his bills. He has to pay his rent and take care of other things.”

A 45-year old carpenter, Olumide Akinleye, was on Friday arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for raping his daughter.

Akinleye, who lives in Odo-Ona Elewe in Ibadan, is facing a charge of having unlawful carnal knowledge of his biological daughter.

The police prosecutor, Sunday Fatola, told the court that Mr. Akinleye had a carnal knowledge of his 18-year-old daughter in their apartment.



“Akinleye, who is cohabiting with his daughter in his one-room apartment, raped her several times between September and December 2017.

”The girl had confessed during investigation that she confided in her father’s friend about the several sex bouts against her will,” he said.

The offence contravened Section 214 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Magistrate Modina Akanni, said Akinleye should be kept in police custody until when hearing would begin.

Akannim, however, adjourned until Jan. 25 for facts and sentence.

A woman in Australia is being sued by the clinic who performed her eyebrow tattooing after she shared photos of the horrible reaction she had to the procedure.

Amanda Coates posted the graphic photos on Facebook last July after having a terrible reaction to the eyebrow feathering she received from Skincare Laser Clinic in Melbourne.

She said the short procedure left her skin swollen and irritated.

“The next day I woke up, and my skin had come off onto the pillow,” she said. “I went to the doctor immediately because of the pain and severe swelling.

“It felt like something was eating away at my skin; I was in so much pain,” she said, according to Yahoo Lifestyle.

Coates said she wanted to share about the painful experience so no one else would have to endure it, Yahoo reports.

But now the tattoo artist and clinic are seeking $150,000 in compensation from Coates, citing ridicule and the loss of 11 clients at the cost of $5,600 over her viral post.

The owner of the clinic, Iain Cleveland, said Coates was “delighted” after her procedure and that she didn’t contact them until two and a half weeks later about the reaction she was having.

“There’s no way we could possibly be responsible for the infection at that stage, two and a half weeks after the procedure,” the owner told the Daily Mail.

Cleveland also issued a statement after Coates initial claim, saying the company follows “strict industry best practice, standards, and regulations.

“At the beginning of the procedure, the client was shown the microblade and dressing pack contained in a sterilized environment,” he said.

“These packs were opened in front of the client using sterilized gloves that remained in the room the entire procedure,” he added. “The client left the procedure satisfied. Based off feedback from industry experts, SLC believes the adverse reaction was due to an allergy to one of the supplementary products used.”

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, might be one of history’s most successful entrepreneurs, but he is a parent just like any other.

The 33-year-old Facebook founder recently had to go through the heart-wrenching experience of sending off his daughter on her first day of school and, like many parents tend to do, shared the moment on social media.

On Wednesday, Zuckerberg shared a photo of himself along with his pediatrician wife Priscilla Chan saying goodbye to their oldest daughter Max as she left the family’s home.



The parents are both grinning at their little girl as dad kneels next to her and hands off a massive backpack. ‘First day of preschool. They grow up so quickly,’ he wrote in the caption for the image.

Max, who just turned two in December, became a big sister last year when her parents welcomed a second daughter, August, who is now four months old.

Zuckerberg is back at work now after having taken two months of maternity leave after the birth of his second child, just as he did after Max was born.

Famed fashion photographer Bruce Weber accused of sexual misconduct by four former models who worked with him in the industry. (Reuters)

Four more models have spoken out against famous fashion photographer Bruce Weber accusing him of sexual misconduct.

D.L. Janney, Christopher Cates, Alex Geerman and Ryan Vigilant went on the record with allegations against the photographer in a report published by The Business of Fashion. The models’ assault allegations date back to 1982.

Janney, who just released a memoir about his experience in the industry, told Business of Fashion that he believes he was blacklisted from the industry after refusing Weber on two separate occasions. In 1982, Weber allegedly asked Janney to strip naked during a shoot for British Vogue and on another shoot for GQ, Janney and his brother were asked by the photographer to take off their shirts and “pretend to be boyfriend,” Janney said.



The three other models alleged that Weber touched them inappropriately while on the set of photo shoots.

In 2006, Christopher Cates said he visited Weber’s home in Miami for a photo shoot where the photographer allegedly proceeded to invite models to his guest bedroom away from the shoot crew. When it was Cates turn for the shoot, he said that Weber asked him to remove his clothes and then touched him inappropriately.

Alex Geerman, a former model and massage therapist, worked with Weber in 2008. According to Geerman, Weber asked the model to do “breathing exercises” that involved non-consensual touching around the genitals.

“I didn’t understand what he was doing, and he didn’t explain it,” said Geerman.

The former model said he left the studio that day feeling disturbed and confused.

Also in 2008, Ryan Vigilant said that he too was touched by Weber during a photoshoot but never wanted to name the photographer. He was later inspired to call out Weber after reading his response to the New York Times article that stated both Weber and Vogue fashion photographer Mario Testino behaved inappropriately. In the article 15 former male models accused Weber of assault in addition to 13 male assistants who accused Testino of unwanted sexual advances.

Weber was sued back in December by Jason Boyce, a model who accused him of assault and told the New York Times that Weber’s behavior was “well known” within the industry.

“Anytime you’d bring up Bruce it was always like, ‘Oh yeah he’s a little weird, he’s a little creepy, he does these weird breathing exercises,’” said Boyce. “That’s as far as anyone would talk about it. No one would ever fully-fledged say he assaulted me. It was always like a shrug it off, ‘Oh well, let’s not make this a big deal,’ as men do, ‘Let’s not make this a big deal.’”

Boyce filed the lawsuit against Weber in New York State Supreme Court and is represented by lawyer Lisa Bloom.

Weber denied all the claims against him.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is chairing a committee comprising of nine state governors saddled with the responsibility of ending the herdsmen’s killings being witnessed in parts of the country.

This was one of the decisions reached at a meeting of the National Economic Council held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.



The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting presided over Osinbajo.



Ganduje named members of the committee to include governors of Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, Benue, Adamawa, Edo, Plateau, Oyo, and Ebonyi states.

The governor said the committee would collaborate with the Federal Government in addressing impunity regarding killings and violence.

A father, Andrew Koku, who pleaded guilty to beading his six-month-old daughter, is to spend the next 37 days in prison, an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court ruled on Thursday.

Chief Magistrate Adeola Adelaja, who handed down the verdict, said the accused should remain behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Koku, a resident of Were Village near Obada-Oko in Abeokuta, who is being tried for murder, had entered a guilty plea.



According to the Police Prosecutor, Sunday Eigbejiale, the accused committed the offence on Dec, 24. 2017 at 6.00 p.m. at Ayedere Village in Obada-Oko.



Eigbejiale alleged that the accused had beheaded his six months old daughter with a cutlass.

“The accused said he decided to kill the baby because his wife was having extra-marital affairs with her ex-lover.

“He said the wife’s adulterous lifestyle angered him and he believed killing the only child which was the only bond between him and the woman will end the marriage,” he told the court.

The offence contravened Sections 319 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.

The case has been adjourned until Feb. 23.

A little girl is lucky to be alive after a cobra slithered into her bedroom and bit her on the face as she slept.

Six-year-old Mikayla-Sue Grove awoke complaining of a toothache at home on a farm near the town of Ballito in eastern South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province.

But when her mum, Inge, and dad, Ludwig, came into her room, he realised a snake in there was the real cause of the problem.



He ushered out Mikayla-Sue and her sister Izabella. But the cobra then spat its venom into Inge’s eyes, temporarily blinding her.



The reptile was later identified as a Mozambique spitting cobra, which sprays venom through the tips of its fangs into enemies’ eyes.

Mr. Grove told South African media how he then rushed the family to the Alberlito Hospital around 10 or 15 minutes’ drive away.

His blinded wife took a bottle of water with her and continually rinsed her eyes on the journey, which he says probably saved her sight.

Snake expert, Arno Naude, recounted on a social media page dedicated to snake attacks that doctors had to put a tube into Mikayla-Sue’s rapidly swelling throat to allow her to breathe.

Her dad told how medics used 17 doses of an anti-venom treatment over the next 12 hours.

Pictures show her severely swollen, with a bite mark on her chin.

Inge’s sight is now restored and her daughter’s life is out of danger, though she remains in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Mr. Grove said: “Mikayla is doing much better, the tubes have been removed, she is very responsive and looks around, eyes wide open.

“Still in ICU, but I think I can safely say she is out of danger.

“We will know for certain over the next two to three days what the extent of the tissue damage will be.”

A snake-catching expert was called to the house shortly after the attack, and successfully evicted the snake. It was not clear whether he put it back in its natural habitat.

The species, considered among Africa’s most dangerous snakes, is fairly common in the south-east of the continent.

It is known to be easily provoked into its defensive behaviour of rearing up, spreading its hood and spitting its venom up to six feet into a perceived attacker’s eyes.

It seems the West clan has added their latest member as TMZ reports that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have just had their third child via surrogate.

The new baby was announced by Kim, who said the surrogate gave birth on Monday to a healthy baby girl weighing 7lbs 6oz.


Kim and Kanye used a surrogate because she has placenta accreta, a life-threatening condition that created serious complications during the birth of her second child, Saint.

A 300 level student whose CGPA is barely up to 1.78! And they are aiming for the next best couple award for the session by the departmental association. So, the girl need to live in with him to prepare along.
What nonsense! It seems that some girls
suddenly loose their senses immediately they
gain admission. I’ve seen that some of them
have no more sense of caution, honour and
dignity.

They would change their wardrobes and acquire a new set of make ups just to look

heart and that’s why am sounding stern. I know
about two girls now that have been living with
their boyfriend since year one and as it is now
they can’t even even count how many abortions
they had for that same boy at sch bae it’s now like a normal thing to them, the last one she did
almost took her life and that made her bleed for
4months, imagine how you do feel with ordinary 4 days of menstruation left alone living with it for months.. As a matter of fact one of them have damaged her fallopian tube due to excessive use of contraceptives she has taken to prevent pregnancy. I want you to look beyond now and think of what advise you would give your own daughter when you become a mother. I hope I have not offended you…if I have, please repent.

not be swayed by these evil. Be consistent and
keep celebrating your purity. I am always proud
