Kanwulia I live in the UK and I'm speaking for nursing over here. I am also in the Healthcare field.

I knew nursing in the US was slightly different to the US but I thought there will be some similarities.

So who cleans up after babies in the special care baby unit? Who cleans up after adults who can't feed and dress themselves? What about those can't walk?

Apart from assisting the MDs with procedures, IV therapies, assessing and medicating them we do nothing else. There are cleaners, laundry staff and nutritionists. We do not even prepare their fornula or breast milk. We have nutrition techs and nurse techs for that! We have enough nurse techs to feed and bath the babies. We leave that for THE PARENTS TOO!

Nursing in the UK is VERY different then.
We are NOT glorified maids OR NANNIES LIKE IN THE UK AND NIGERIA.
We have a department to run BY US!
We are in numerous councils, attend seminars, formulate policies and TRAIN STUDENT NURSES AND NEW STAFF!

Even in adult departments YOU HAVE NURSE TECHS, PHYSICAL THERAPISTS, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS AND SPEECH THERAPISTS. . . .
We can help IF there is a shortage of TECHS.
Then EVEN OUR BOSS DROPS HER MANAGER BADGE AND JOINS TO GET THE JOB DONE!

Nannies do have options. They can choose to stop. Like she said, may I no wake up one morning see say she done go. My response was whenever u make up your mind,give me a week. Do people still sweep with manual brooms? Am I a baby that she washes my clothes everyday? Is she baby sitting babies? What I am saying is that she doesn't have much to be done. Because I see her as a mother that has nursed 5 kids, I believed /assumed we won't be having a long discussion over some issues.

For clarity, she's not complaining of too much stress rather over familiarity is bringing attitude. I was doing all that (chores) and still working and was always there for oga ' s pleasure. In fact , for my conscience I treat her well because she's someone mother. As u can see, she sees herself beyond a family member. The way she has spoken to me on three occasions shows she is too relaxed and has forgotten she's a nanny or she sees herself as my mother /mother inlaw. I see why people set boundaries immediately a new guest/worker is introduced to a house. Thank you

My max patient load is FOUR!
I SIT most of the day.
Not active at all. I only work 5 days every 2 weeks with full time benefits! NINE DAYS OFF every 2 weeks. . . Unless I want to work extra.

What's the difference ? Especially the nurses managing very old patients who are almost like kids themselves.

A nurse is different from a nanny.
A nurse does NOT do domestic work(even when taking care of children in NEONATOLOGY or PEDIATRICS)and works only in home health or clinical settings. NURSES WORK SPECIFIC HOURS, DAYS PER WEEK FOR WITH A CLEAR-CUT JOB DESCRIPTIONS . . . AND WITH AN AGREED SALARY SCALE AS STATED BY A SIGNED CONTRACT.

Does a NANNY need a 2, 4-Year Degree, Masters or Doctorate? Nurses have the choices. . . NANNIES DO NOT!

Which kind of chores, but to WASH, COOK and CLEAN? A 50 year-old woman’s workload is NEVER reduced in NIGERIA of all places. A typical Nigerian home is tedious to run due to lack of constant electricity. Those rats/cockroaches infested mansions are the worst!
