Yeah. We have two ministers of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas and Oil)... zendi: The President is the Minister for Petroleum. It is a retained portfolio, by discretion of the President.
Buhari did too.
The Minister of State, Lokpobiri, not Kyari, is his deputy in the Ministry. The Minister of State is also called the Junior Minister. There is one or two in every Ministry. |

We are technically on same page. PBAT, in this scenario, acted as the Minister of Petroleum Resources in which capacity the proposal was presented to [and adopted by] the FEC headed by the President The bolded is Minister BAT chimex38: OK.. maybe I should've used obliged instead of forced. (But that's how I perceive executive orders just as Trump is doing ). Nothing personal.
The PIA might have provided for the DCSO as you stated to sell quotas to local refinery. But the currency of transaction of crude-sale was changed to Naira by PBAT. It was in the news then. My emphasis is on the use of the Naira for local transaction rather than the usual Dollar 💵 |

The bolded might be interpreted as taking things personal. It was not an Executive Act of PBAT. There is what we call the Production Curtailment and Domestic Crude Oil Supply Obligation Regulations (DCSO) 2023 which is issued AND enacted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) as premised on Section 109 (2) of the PIA... The Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) was signed into law on 16th August, 2021chimex38: The debt no be here Oo . Plus Most of the Oil Companies are forced to sell a percentage to local refineries in dollars Naira) by PBAT executive act. Unless probably their debts are restructured for long term. I think they will have to come to the market. |

On second look, this will definitely cause a rally in OandO SP. Tranche 1 Lagbaja has 300,000 units by QD 1(Feb 14). SP =₦75. Ratio is 1:12. Lagbaja gets 25,000units (equivalent of ₦1,875,000). That's about ₦3 per share Tranche 2 Lagbaja now has 325,000 units by QD 2(June 30). SP =₦85. Ratio is 1:15. Lagbaja gets 21,666units (equivalent of ₦1,841,610). That's about ₦4 per share Lagbaja now has 346,666units by QD 3 + ₦7 'DIV' in 2025... Classic case of tying down and rewarding 'loyalists'KarlTom: No sir!

QUICK CALCULATIONRatio 1 for 12 will mean 679,364,206 units (8,152,370,477 / 12) will be distributed in tranche 1 instead of the stated 641,856,301. That leaves a shortfall of 37,507,905 units. If the above is not adjusted, the Tranche 2 might be 1 for 14[or 15]... |

Exactly! It would not lead to an exceptional rally immediately. I expect a brief rally on Friday though. This redistribution is designed to hold down intending sellers... Sunrisepebble: I dont really see much in the news tbh The distribution ratio is not that attractive to me. Unless they're changing it in the second tranche |

I love the passion of Locotrader. However, I don't flow with his brazen estimations. This same CHAMS was projected to close at FB on several occasions but fell short hardly gaining 2%. The current projection is N15 in 2025... I believe that DJT is trying to get back at the Kremlin [and by extension, the BRICS currency which will ultimately rival the USD]. There are many theories but, like you rightly put it, time will tell DJT is a daring individual... ositadima1: USA wants to increase local production of its goods. Many feel that the country is too dependent on foreign products, forgetting that there was a reason those factories moved overseas—mostly to China. Another goal is to boost domestic oil and gas production, but it will take a few years for the U.S. to become competitive in that sector as well.
Trump is betting on the thesis that the world needs USA more than USA needs the world. I think he is wrong, but time will tell.
