DavidDylan:
Its not rare especially in the villages. Once knew a woman who had to go through that after her husband died.
I wonder why it's hard for people to believe that despite Christianity o, Islam o, many crass traditions still go on in Nigeria.
RomanceRe: Igbo Women Are Too Demanding by KarmaMod(f): 1:23am On Oct 25, 2008
PepERSprAY:
Stop spreading rumors here please. That girl's story was on NL and it could be fake and unfounded. Let us focus on another story  abeg.
and what would be her reason for making such up? Are you mad?

You've never seen kids with tribal marks? I was in Ibadan last year and saw a ouple (10-11 yrs) with it. so what's your rant about?

Go sit down jare.  NL needs a purge from this spirit of denial

That was during the dark years and not now unless it is in Ekiti state. tongue
Funmi be quiet.

Not too long ago, a girl made a hysterical post about how her MIL took their baby for a "haircut" and came back with OGBOMOSHO marks on his face.

So why should the tradition of making a widow marry an old man be a surprise?

This was 2007. Dark ages ko. Englightened Era ni.
RomanceRe: Igbo Women Are Too Demanding by KarmaMod(f): 1:15am On Oct 25, 2008
BTW it's when a woman is SUSPECTED of killing her husband/he died young that she is made to drink the corpse water.

seeing that Nigeria loves blaming women for everything, I'm sure at the time this happened often
RomanceRe: Igbo Women Are Too Demanding by KarmaMod(f): 1:14am On Oct 25, 2008
Nigerian widows are tortured not just Igbos

Yorubas still have some places where the widow is made to marry the brother of the husband even if he's 90 yrs old.

These traditions may be dead but they still pop up every now and then. Same way you still have psychos giving their newborns tribal marks.

Nigeria still has a long way to go. No part of the country is exempt from this.

I thank God. Gas is now back to about $2.79. I didnt think I'd see $2 anything again. The giddiness caused me to nearly hit a deer. I hate driving at night.

How the hell is it pot calling kettle black?
T-Mobile  tongue

But lo and behold, your link showed that Yorubas and edos did same.
It has absolutely nothing to do with who treated widows  better.
Wghat is wrong with you? Are you so filled with hatred that you can't read again? Please show me in that thread where I said it ONLY happens in Igboland or one person treats another one better. Word twister. You think Im surprised by your schtick? This isnt your first and it wont be the last. How many times have I said that my point was to prove that Igboland is NOT excluded of such practices.

Is it REALLY that hard for you to comprehend?

Keep crying about Nollywood there. Apparently movies based on a person's true life experience is a new thing to you people. Pathetic. Were the links provided also Nollywood? Abeg take your hysteria elsewhere

Once again being in denial of it isnt going to make it go away. Keep whining.

The reason this thread got to this point is because you had the audacity to say only Igbo bashing happens on NL. Better contact Pearl Vision or Lens Crafters. If anyone is a liar it's you. Why wont you see the Yoruba bashing when you part of them? keep in mind it's cios of nonsense like this you usually pull that we used to argue worse than this in the past

Other people might not know the garbage you've been guilty of saying but I do.

Gamine must be offline which is why the pathetic agbaya above is still running his illiterate mouth here instead of chasing her around as usual

Osisi I'd appreciate it if you don't treat me like I'm a kid. I'm smarter than the nonsense you are trying to pull. Amazing how that's the only quote of yours you seem to remember

Have you also forgotten this

Seems you forgot this one as well

I heard Yorubas are very dirty and use their bare hands to wipe their baby's bottom after a bowel movement and would just wipe the hands off on their wrapper and sell you akara with the same hand.
I even hear they have a long open gutter between the "face me I face you "yard and after defecating they just pour a cup of water to move the doo doo away from their doormot.
Now is that a fact?
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?action=post;topic=87065.0;num_replies=53

Abi you're not nwado? Is this one about stereotypes too?

Notice how most of her responses in regards to Yorubas has to do with Yorubas being supposedly dirty. Always "hearing". What makes you different from Funmi sef? I heard this. I heard that. At least when I 'hear" something, I actually have proof of it.

abeg go and sit down or you can continue weeping all over Nairaland because you still can't believe that Igboland treats widows just as horribly as everyone else. Amazing how you claim you never heard of such yet you CONSTANTLY "heard" about how dirty Yorubas are.

keep "hearding" and whining, sho gbo  grin

when it comes to tribal, we don't see eye to eye. However Family o, Culture o, Romance o. Most of the time  wink

I don't even let Funmi get away with saying rubbish about Ekiti and we're both Yoruba. Not to talk of osisi who's from another tribe and for SOME reason always *hears* about how "dirty" Yorubas are.

when it comes to stuff like that I'm not fooled  wink

JJYOU, instead of forcing yourself to speak English. How about minding your business?
Christianity EtcRe: Im Tired Of Clapping My Hands In Church. by KarmaMod(f): 2:55pm On Oct 24, 2008
I find it very stupid when people clap in church for EVERY trifle. A child trips? they clap, that couple finally got pregnant? they clap. pastor sneeze? they clap. i don write, oya make una clap.
grin

You dey mind them
FamilyRe: Mothers, Trust Us Please! by KarmaMod(f): 2:52pm On Oct 24, 2008
Before they all woke up one morning, I had given my boy a shower, fed him and dressed him up real good - they three of them (grandmas and wifey) woke up to meet us playing in the living room and their jaws dropped. First thing they did was make sure a diaper was on him and it wasnt leaking!

I just smiled wickedly and whistled as I went into my room.
Lol. Good job. She shouldnt worry about anything then.

If it really bothers you do, It'd be better for you to discuss it with her instead of withdrawing from such things smiley

Maybe now you'll stop crying and constantly lying/denying.

That makes sense to you? Abeg make I hear word

99% of Yorubas are ugly and dirty

RomanceRe: Igbo Women Are Too Demanding by KarmaMod(f): 4:28am On Oct 24, 2008
Osisi, seriously get over yourself.  I expect so much BETTER from an educated mother. When it comes to Igbo this Igbo that, I swear sometimes you just let rationale vanish.

Hysteria doesnt work with me. Many have tried it and it hasnt phased me. Never did Never will. peel my face from the floor? You think I'm you? Defending any kind of nasty slowpoke because he's/she's Igbo?

Keep playing the innocent act like most people don't know how you do. The reason why you hate Texcee so much is because whenever you go around sniffing for news that put Yorubas in a bad light. She comes right up to counterattack. May the Lord continue to bless her with her work  grin

Why would I post those articles if I wanted to hide the fact that such things happen around Yorubas as well? Common sense please. You've been crying about that thing for dayus now. Not my fault you were in denial all this time and I showed you the truth. GET OVER IT.

As for the whole RN thread, so what? I shouldnt post it so you wouldnt cry? Werent Edo men also mentioned in the article so why are you still crying. Didnt you post  a few of Yoruba women hacking their husband's privates and what not. Did you see me crying on your head? Know why? because I don't suffer from denial.

Is it really HARD to comprehend that the point of the thread was to prove that Igboland isnt exempt from such crass traditions in regards to widows. people like you would have killed that woman from making that movie just to protect your "reputation". Pathetic. Thankfully she now resides in the UK hiding from people like you.

Post the link for what? Too lazy to use NL google for "Dirty Yorubas" and see what your friends had to say, including YOURSELF? Abi you want to deny(as usual) that you said such things in the "what have you heard about other tribes" thread. ironically the only stereotypes you listed had to do with Yorubas. what a surprise.

why would I make things up? Am I afraid of you? Are you going to beat me or what. I have no reason to lie. Same way you asked for proof in regards to the widows thing I provided it, did I not? Instead for you to have accepted that ok o Igboland is PART of the places in Nigeria guilty of such. Instead you were asking foolish questions like "is oyo igboland"

Ridiculous.
