PoliticsRe: Only Lagos Can Survive Without Oil – Fashola by karpentar: 11:58am On Jan 18, 2013
Boyoorisha: Governor Babatunde Fashola shola of Lagos State says Lagos is the only state that can survive if crude oil supply – the mainstay of Nigeria economy- is shut down.

Fashola explained that this was possible because the government in the state had made it a policy to implement the laws on taxation to the letter, which allows it to have funds for capital project.

He spoke on Thursday during the state’s sixth Taxation Stakeholders Conference in Ikeja.

The governor said, “A life without tax is a lie. If they shut down on oil, this is the only state that can survive. Everything that we have done in the past six years was funded by our taxes.

“Since I became governor, I have not made any tax law; only implementing the existing laws on taxation.”

Fashola, however, observed that majority of the state residents had not been paying their taxes, saying the government had started prosecution to achieve higher percentage in tax compliance by residents of the state.

He said, “While our population continues to grow, one cannot see appreciable growth in tax. Our record shows that only three million people are currently paying their taxes against eight million that should pay tax.

“Since we have a population of 20 million people in this state, it means that three million people are carrying the burden of 20 million, instead of eight that should be doing so. In the last four years, we have been doing enlightenment on the need to pay tax; but now, we will prosecute.”

The governor also explained that the government had made a list of the tax regime of the local governments which had been signed into law. He advised residents to acquaint themselves with the law so there would be no confusion.

He said his administration had judiciously managed revenue generated to turn the state into a place where everything works.

This is a dumb statement. The huge tax revenues is in plenty ways linked to oil and gas related activities. Obviously the tax income will hugely drop, without crude oil. I just don't know why people can't think. And it's so easy.

cheleku: And you think you know about european football?
No coach would want to work under Abramovich? You must be kidding. You'd rather say no pussyfooting coach would want to work with him. Moreover, Mancity, PSG, Milan all wanted his signature. Why didnt he go to any of these clubs? Answer that.
Mou did build that inter team. He brought in Wesley, Eto and Milito to mention a few, and we know how influential these signings proved.
Yet, he left everthing for a bigger challenge; the hallmark of a genious. Lets see how Bayern fare in the champions league nxt season.
What bigger challenge? Moronho was sacked by chelsea and went to inter, where he luckily won some trophies. He's just an average coach with no football legacy to show the world. I have never heard anybody mention Moronho football style. He has none. The only thing he's good at is leaving all his previous clubs in disarray. He'll soon run away from real Madrid after creating disaster and disharmony there. Useless self centered fellow with overhyped skill.

No, dribbling is not the only criteria. But the fact remains that Ronaldo can't dribble like messi. The only area of football that he's good is in scoring. Again in that area, messi, scores more. Then, on what ground whatsoever should Ronaldo be preferred to Messi? No ground Bros.

olasmith10: To be very objective, messi deserves the award, but zlatan Ibramhovic once said "if madrid players supports CR7 the way barca players supports messi,CR7 will always win the ballon D'or award.
How else can the Madrid players support CR7? He's allowed to take all free kicks and penalties. He gets assists for almost all his goals but provides few assists to others. No matter how you Madrid and MORONWHOR fans plus jealous Ibramhovic twist and tweak facts, messi is simply better than Ronaldo by far. Coaches and captains of National teams know this and have already voted. Weep!

Bros, there's no sadism abeg.... Its just the plain truth. Ronaldo can't dribble like messi or Iniesta. He's only a kinda "shot on site" player comparable to RVP, Falcao, Drogba etc.. Its an anomaly to be comparing him to Messi when he does not possess upto half of messi talents.
Well only Madrid and MORONwhor Fans can ignore such obvious fact. Coaches and captains of National teams know better. They've already voted.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Lionel Messi Wins Ballon D'or Award by karpentar: 5:39pm On Jan 07, 2013
yemhosky: Messi deserves this award. It's not strange to win the award more than 3 times, at least Marta of Brazil won it 5 times consecutively in the female football category. Messi has been around this award since 2007. The stats says that he was second place in 2007 & 2008 (Christians won), so it is not a big deal for Christiano to be second or third place again. Like someone said, you should compare CR7 with the likes of RVP, Falcao or Lewandowski - these all are sharp shooters and no one beats the other. Winning the Copa del Rey is no mean feat as some as put it, since Real Madrid was eliminated by the same Barcelona. If the award was all about the league performance, the players from Borussia Dortmund, Juventus or ManCity should be here. Finally, lets stop the Messi has not played in the EPL syndrome, the English Premier league is overrated and receives lots of acclaim due to the amount of money that TV put into it, that is not the same as the quality of the league. If anyone can recall, Sky paid a little above £2billion for the current season for EPL, while they paid about €800million for the LaLiga. Most of the great performers in the EPL today came from LaLiga and other leagues,so the fact that......
Well said!

Donyahoozee: I wish Ronaldo can win d award.
I wonder why you'll expect someone like Ronaldo who can't dribble to win the award. The only area that he compares with messi is in goal scoring. Even on that, messi scores more. In other aspects of football like dribbling, assists, ball sense, team play, football skill, maneuverability etc, Ronaldo is way way behind messi and Iniesta.

It will be the biggest upset if he collects this award. He doesn't deserve it more than Aguero, van persie, or Falco. These are the category of players that Ronaldo can measure up to and not messi for heavens sake.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Lionel Messi Wins Ballon D'or Award by karpentar: 1:17pm On Jan 07, 2013
Oahray: In my opinion, Zidane should have won it that year, cos he was by far the best player in the world cup in a season without any exceptional player in club football.

I think Cannavaro had this world cup medal to thank.

If this is your argument, it doesnt help the Ronaldo cause.

Ronaldo won only the La liga, which is not more important than the EPL which players Aguero and Yaya Toure helped win, or Serie A in which a Pirlo-inspired Juventus went unbeaten for the whole season to win it.

Didier Drogba was Chelsea's best player and they won European clubs' biggest prize that season.

Now lets go international football. Messi didnt play in the Euros. Ronaldo put in lack-lustre performances in his first two games in the Euros. He shone in the next two.
However it would be a sacrilege to even mention Ronaldo's Euro performance in the same sentence with that of Pirlo or Iniesta (who happens to be a contender). I apologize for just doing so.

In the Euros, Ronaldo was only as good as Balotelli.

In any individual part of last season, or the whole, Ronaldo didnt come out tops in the world.

The facts (including the one you quoted) supports this.
Thanks

vicenzo: So,can we now agree that the award is but popularity contest, tainted by sentiments of the voters.
They choose who they consider to be the best player. There's no way a choice made by such people can be wrong. It's people here on this forum that are choosing candidates on sentiments.

Bobbystanley: if it should be based on individual perfomance...why did fabio cannavaro won it in 2006 ahead of Zinedine Zidane and Gaucho Ronaldinho?
Dats because he led italy to claim the world cup dat year..its given based on contribution to teams success..

Its just that Fifa is now a political party like PDP
Exposing ignorance in a public forum is as low as it gets. My dear Bobbystanley, FIFA has nothing to do with this award. The best player is selected by coaches and captains of National teams. Think before you write!, it's easy.
RomanceRe: Why Do Men Change After Marriage? by karpentar: 2:55pm On Dec 14, 2012
Men change after marriage for a number of different reasons. The main reason is because they are not satisfied with what they have. No matter how beautiful, forgiving, supporting or loving a man's wife is, he'll always feel as though he has missed the better bus.

Another reason for the changes in man after marriage is the marital contract. Once he obtains a woman's signature & her "I do", that is all he needs to feel secure that she can't get away & must deal with his many flaws & shortcomings. He may no longer feel the need to impress her, woo her,or even tell her he loves her once she's locked down for life.

Some men are emotional carpenters. They enjoy building the shelves of marriage, only to sit their wives on them while they go & work, hang out with their friends, or chase the better bus. These types like to know that they have a lady at home, but they don't put much effort into giving her a reason to stay there.

Men also enjoy the thrill of the chase. Once they obtain a woman's hand in marriage the chase pretty much ends. Sometimes the thrill ends as well.

Not all man change in these ways after marriage. There are still a handful of chivalrous, loyal, attentive men out there.
It is also not only men who change after marriage. Women change as well.

Folks it’s possible to marry out of sympathy. His reasons were clear. The marriage decision was enhanced by a desire to ensure kids are with both parents. There's nothing abnormal about that. What I can't understand is why the consideration for the same kids waned and he's quitting the marriage. That's hypocrisy!!!!
