claseek: Please help me oo..
So I'm currently weaning, and as expected my breast is very engorged and painful. But the problem is it is only one breast (the left breast). The other breast (the right) is just there, soft as usual and not engorged.
I last breastfed on sunday evening, and due to the pain, i pumped out about 120ml from the engorged left breast yesterday, monday. But still the right breast is just there like normal. (And there's milk inside oh).
Today, the left has even gotten even more harder, engorged and painful, while the right is still the same.
This morning now while dressing up, i had to pack some folded piece of cloth into my right bra, cos the difference in their size is now sooo obvious. Very obvious and awkward.
Is this normal or should i be worried and what can i do? When I weaned I didn't press out the milk, I also didn't even take painkillers, the pain was so much but I was determined to bear it to the end and after 4 or 5 days of felt better than ever... don't worry with time both breastfeeding will become the same size ..joy of motherhood |

Giddyperson: This night now, gave her a bath around 9:30, she was already very sleepy then and slept soon afterwards. Weather is kinda cold and our room is airy so she's not hot. But she woke up around 11 and is still wailing on top of her voice even as I'm typing. I know it has to do with the newborn sha cuz everytime the baby stirs or makes a sound, she increases her tempo and clutches me like she thinks im gonna get up and go carry him . If i actually have to get up, she would hold my leg and let me drag her to and for his cot. Argggggghhhhhh Awwww poor giddybaby is feeling left out, she might out grow it soon or you start involving her in baby affairs, hold her hand to comb baby's hair, tell her to always kiss him and let her be doing small small stuffs for him.... |

That's so sad sha Yes we all knew he was missing them so we were always trying to pet and pamper him each time he starts, until it became a habit and we all found ourselves sleeping during the day time, so 1 day it took beating for him to stop it and that was the end..he will be 13yrs old in april |

Onaswu: same here my almost 2 years tolder does same. looking for solution too but the most annoying thing is people around me feel I should always beat when he start that LOL sometimes the beating works oooo, my little cousin was 2years + when his parents died and my parents took him in, he had this habit of crying every night and he will refuse to be consoled until he has had his fill, and one night my mother beat him up saying she was going to give him a reason to cry... that night was the end of that cry... |

eksbabe: Hello mums, hope you all had a productive day? Please oo mums who still have kids in creche or have once had kids in creche, is it normal for kids to come home like everyother day with one scratch or the other on the face? In a week, my son can have his face scratched like twice. I have complained tire, the excuse is “they are mostly boys and they play rough, bla bla bla”. I know kids’ nails grow long easily but i try to cut my son’s nails as often as possible. They usually list about 2 kids who always have long nails in the creche and i have said severally that on Fridays they can remind parents to cut their kids’ nails before a new week. I hope i am not overreacting on this issue, it is a frequent occurence and that is why i am bringing it here. If it were me I would take my child out of that creche before they tell stories that touch the Soul one day, allowing them scratch each other shows they are usually left unsupervised... on another thought " what if the scratch is from a wicked minder" ?. I'm just saying oooo |

Mbliz: A woman was telling me about a drug one can use to shrink the boobs after weaning. According to her , when she had miscarriage, doctor prescribed it to return the breast to normal size hence she lost the baby. So my question now is, is it good for mothers who want to wean their baby to use any of such drugs aside paracetamol and are there any side effects to such drugs. And without the drugs, can the breast return to its normal size after weaning? If yes, pls give direction on what to do . thanks I didn't take anything when I weaned my baby, not even paracetamol, I allowed the pain run its course and afar 4 days I became fine but the pain was terrible oooo, but the good thing is that my breast is almost standing again |

Giddyperson: The doctors are often overbooked that's why. It's not just a Nigerian thing. Specialists are often overbooked in public hospitals which makes it really difficult to see them. I've found that the key is to exaggerate your pain How do we now exaggerate the pain when my baby was running up and down the hospital, the almost drove us out of the hospital sef because my baby almost tore a file, the nurses where just asking me.what it was we actually came to do.. |

mitche15: I just saw this, thank God she is OK. I do not mean to scare you but pls to cross all yout t's, visit an ENT proff at a private hospital but if your mind is at rest, let it be. I had a nasty experience with my own ear that only God saved me, something the ENT took care of in 5mins. I visited a general doc in govt hosp for a week, they were just doing me trial and error, I decided to visit the specialist hospital (govt owned too), i didn't even know there was something like ENT till they showed me ENT unit. My dear, after narrating my long 1 week ear wahala, the man kept asking why i was seeing a general doc who had no idea nor the tools to look into my ear. they flushed out my ear in a matter of minutes and i felt so much relief after that. Since then... so my sister, Your baby is too small to talk about her feelings or how well she can hear or if sounds are echoing etc. I am sure its not only pain the ENT will look out for. Again, I am not being NEGATIVE, just see someone who takes care of the ear to make sure your baby is OK.
I am so pained by the way some govt hospitals operate, its not like its a big deal if you see an ENT, afterall its your money. A woman who just recently opened a tailoring ready to wear shop in my area, she was pregnant, they said she had tummy ache and went to the hospital (govt) to complain, those people sent her back home that it was normal, no scan, no heartbeat check, nothing!!! This woman died, that was when they discovered that her baby had been dead. I am so pained, i pass by her shop for a week now and my mood changes. May God help us Now I'm scared, the general hospital here said you have to pass through a general practitioner first who will first access the situation and determine if a specialist will see you, he thought me how to touch some parts of the ear for pains and so far baby girl has been good, but for a second and more professional assessment we will visit a private hospital in ikeja tomorrow.. I pray everything is fine if not my husband will put all the blame on me for loving my work more than my children... thank you very very much |

Thanks once more |

Giddyperson: This sounds serious. Take her to the ENT clinic at a general hospital tomorrow, let a doctor look at the insides of the ear to make sure the ear drum is not ruptured. Pain or no pain. Same as the other mama in similar situation biko. She's still a baby, there's no way you'd know if she has redvuced hearing in the ear or anything. Thanks a lot, 1st thing tomorrow morning we will be at the general hospital |

Good evening mamas... this evening my baby climbed a side stool and reached for the cotton bud kept on a table and pierced her ear with it, I only ran to her when I heard her cry out so loud and saw the thing in her ear, when I brought it out I saw little blood on the cotton bud then I gave paracetamol for the pain, right now I can see dried blood in her ear, please any other person experienced something like this?? Is it a serious something? Do we have to head to the hospital tonight or is there something I can give? I am confused |
