The New testament of the Bible is the second half, second Will, beginnin from Matthew and ending with the final book Revelations.

@superior1

Address directly the non existence of the NEwTestament in the time of Jesus and his disciples and how it affected their doctrine and what formed the basis of their Faith.
Christianity Etc › Re: A Guide For All Time!!! by Kay17: 9:28am On Jul 24, 2013
In a few words, skrilyml argument is centred on the history and development of the Christian doctrine. He has showed that at the time of Jesus, the existing "bible" or Sacred Scriptures were the Old testament. That the Apostles and Paul further developed the Sacred Scriptures as part of Christianity. They more or less documented their experiences and added it to the Sacred Scriptures, up until our times.

We can't say Christianity has stopped development or the history of christianity is stagnant neither has the holy spirit departed. And the implication is the Bible has stopped taking record of the Christian experience, and subquent visions, revelations and miracles. We can say as a result that the Bible as it is on is stagnant and incomplete.

This Bible being the end product of the Christian faith, can not be the Basis of the Christian faith.

While you carefully omitted the mortality rate in childbirth. Also think for yourself, is it in the interest of the child to subject it to such pains and risks to her life?

Childmarriage or early marriage is an evil.

bntY: ^God bless you.The uproar that greeted the bill didn't suprise me going by d unpopularity of Yerima among nigerians but d magnitude of folly even among d learned baffles me.The new law has nothing to do with promotion or endorsement of childmarriage as claimed. As you rightly pointed out,d new law seeks to secure d rights of women rather than trample it.Chapter 3,section 29,subsection 4b,states that a married woman can renounce her citizenship irrespective of her age unlike before when she has to be 18years to take that decision. To d lawmaker that ratified d bill, being 'old enough' for marriage also places d responsibility of your citizenship on your shoulders.Isn't that a laudable Idea?
I have heard of prejudice, but i hav never seen it patently displayed with imprudence and grandeur like this!
The problem is: the Constitution implicitly approves the resultant abuse of child wives in a child marriage. The law generally holds minors as mentally fragile and are in a protected class. However the Constitution wld turn a blind eye to their vulnerability.

And child marriages ought to be expreSsly abolished just as trÁditional same sex marriages were in Nigeria

How could Moses have known that jesus who was way ahead in the future, was worshipping the same God as he was in his own time. The reference to Jesus and Mohammed are inventions from no one but you.
Christianity Etc › Re: God Is Genderless. by Kay17: 7:37am On Jul 19, 2013
My previous post showed that a fidicuary relationship arises between the God and his followers, hence the followers expect direction/purpose, care and love from God, that in itself portrays a fatherly figure of God.

God is, but as Creator God does not have to be a father because such role is played by man while we all depend on God for all you listed and beyond. are you are christian or you are being sarcastic here?
I think the bold is self evident. Also, we are draw parallel between a biological father and God, cos both are responsible for bring the child/dependant on earth or into existence.

Christianity Etc › Re: God Is Genderless. by Kay17: 4:24pm On Jul 18, 2013
RoyPCain: @Kay 17; what you are saying therefore is those who say God is a father, they conceived God to be so by their human understanding, as you just did. is that fair to say thats what you mean?

the standard of man is definitely not the Standard of God. so God is actually no one's father, in spite of the people 'conceiving' God as father because they see God playing the social of a father.

Playing a role does not mean the role fits or you have to be identified by the role you play, in reality. The President can answer questions from the press, which is the role of Press secretary. The Principal can teach a class, the role of a teacher, while he is clearly the administrator.

Those who are called children of God are assuming so because they see that God is playing a social role of a father, while truly God is not the father.

the above is my reason for opening this thread.
Isn't God the creator of your purpose in life? Aint you helpless and not self sufficient without his grace? And what cost is his grace? None you wld say, and the grace is freely and gratutious granted. And that God has a fidiciuary interest in your safety and destiny.

Apparently the atttempt to look united by facing the Kaaba while praying has failed.

It is a given fact that Moses, Zoroaster, Jesus and Mohammed are monotheists, it doesn't necessarily imply they worship the same God by virtue of his singularity. Looking through their respective doctrines, one will not find a cohesive agreement among the four on ideology/doctrine.

Moses believed in a God that was beyond Good and Evil, while Jesus believed in a personal warm good God, and Muhammed God mandates Ramadan. Hope you see the significant differences.

I don't understand why Catholics want to legislate Judeo - Christian morality! Laws must have a good degree of practicality. It wld be absurd to legislate for abstinence, to criminalise the use of contraceptives, to criminalise abortion!
Christianity Etc › Re: God Is Genderless. by Kay17: 10:47am On Jul 18, 2013
It is undeniable that God is not biological male or female, however as God is conceived, he is male in gender. He holds the characteristics of a father: a breadwinner, disciplinarian, moral example.
In other words he plays the social role of a father.
Christianity Etc › Re: What Religion Was Moses And Jesus by Kay17: 10:34am On Jul 18, 2013
@OP

The post didn't have much substance, it played on names and tags. Islam "meaning submission to God" isn't not of the same doctrine and principle as what Moses and Jesus practised. And the Gods these individuals worshipped, are hardly similar in nature and by their commamds.

Also mahdino kept insisting Abraham built the Kaaba, that is an allegation he can hardly defend or substantiate. Is such allegation passed down orally from generation to generation?

Why is it necessary for all muslims to face the Kaaba? For a muslim who fails to do so, what liability does he face? Islam is hardly united in fact, hence the claim that praying to the Kaaba unites muslims is false.

Christianity Etc › Re: Self Prophecy By Pastor Adeboye by Kay17: 9:48pm On Jul 14, 2013
I read through Job this weekend, and it was quite revealing. Job being a good and righteous man, was afflicted with disease and misfortune (normally deserved by the wicked). And Job made a petition to God, crying out why he deserved such treatment and maintaining his innocence.

And God's response was: the Ostrich is such a ridiculously stupid animal, it laid it eggs in the open and ground, doesn't treat with its young with care, yet it is swifter than a horse and strong.

In few words, God makes the decisions not you, cos you are powerless.
Foreign Affairs › Re: George Zimmerman Acquitted In Trayvon Martin Murder Trial by Kay17: 8:33pm On Jul 14, 2013
Nobody really talked about the facts that came out in the trial. The self defense rule isn't just ideal, but practical. Zimmerman had the facts in his favour, the injury he incurred, he was entitled to make use of whatever within his reach to meet whatever force with force.

There is a similar case in Nigeria, where a man who was attacked by his in law with a stick, was struck and injured so viciously that he didn't expect his assailant to have his best interests at heart and he used his only weapon he had, a machete!

Racist chants and co, actually blind us. And mislead one to believe everything is in white and black.

Christianity Etc › Doubt Of The Senses. by Kay17(op): 3:51pm On Jul 12, 2013
If we condemn Reason and Faith, with their lofty standards and fantasy, how well can we trust our senses? What connection exists between reality and our senses, there isn't any means of verifying the authenticity of our sensual perception.

Although we are reliable on them for our everyday experiences, and so familiar with them that we take their validity for granted.

NOW of what substance or character would the validation of sensory perception have? Will it be a physical phenomenon?

Politics › Re: Cleric Asks Jonathan To Sign Anti-gay Bill Into Law by Kay17: 6:59am On Jul 09, 2013
The grounds for legislating this "law" are shaky. The premises are built on viral religious ideas. The concept of human rights got its shape in resisting the Crown and the Church's extrajudicial powers. The rights to free thought and conscience is directly in opposition to state religions.

The first immigrants to the United States were heretics banished and condemned by the Church, hence the US constitution and all other subsequent secular constitutions stressed on the separation of Church from State.

Religions are personal matters, the question of who is a devil or demon or not is a personal matter, the particulars of religious doctrines are personal matters

This anti-gay law is built on Judeo-Christian prejudices, it does not reflect the multiculturality of Nigeria. There is more tolerance for homosexuality in our times that ever. Homosexuality is even infused with religious doctrines (given the number of gay pastors), done in privacy and it is a premeditation that it is branded as a thought crime to prosecute it.

It is almost impossible explain how homosexuality as practiced in privacy is harmful to society
