Islam and Catholicism both claim the truth! Too @frosbel

What standard do you use to determine the truth?

No muslims were not mocked, Islamic inspired violence was. Muhammed is a central figure in the doctrines of Islam, he is Islam, criticizing his lifestyle, acts and reasoning is the same as criticizing Islam.

Ojukwu is just another African bloodsucker. Our leaders who are praising him are confused and misguided, and show the lack of direction in this country

Is God (CHRISTIAN ONE) evil, despite the verse indicating he created it?

If you find my definition for evil incomplete or defective, pls indicate why.

The cartoons simply criticised muhammed and violence resulting from islamic inspiration. But muslims dont like muhammed to be criticised at all. Thats the barrier to freedom of speech

Libya had a strong force compared to whats in Africa. They were facing NATO for fcuks sake. The Nigerian Army is just useless, not being tested for so long. NATO would crush our forces in maybe a week tops.

South Africa was just involved in small scale conflicts with the most uninspiring enemy for a demonic cause.

First science is entirely materialistic and your concept of spirituality floats on nothing.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Descendant Of Apes by Kay17: 6:49pm On Nov 28, 2011
I think creationism is a scam, pseudoscience, a mere extension of christianity!

How is possible as a scientist to burden your self with the grand assumption such as the inerrancy of the bible and claim you can find the truth through empirical methods?!

How can one be a scientist without seperating your religion from work, without seperating your bias from your work?!

Why as a scientist, would you lose your FAITH in the empirical method without putting your grand burden to test?

Uyi, i think u are doing science so much harm by placing your bible before it.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 10:33pm On Nov 27, 2011
Evil is an imperfection, which logically has no place in a perfect being's creation. The fact we have that now, would prove the absence of an omnibenevolent creator.

In my opinion, morality entails right and wrong, its normative and man made.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 10:01pm On Nov 27, 2011
@mazaje

i do think its adequate enough, or do u have a better one? And evil is not subjective, every human mind has a clear idea of evil.

@thelstan

i support abortion, but like selfdefense, life is lost. So its unfortunate.

If there is an omnibenevolence God, why is there evil in his creation.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 8:49pm On Nov 27, 2011
Thelstan:
You must be kidding! There are recently discovered examples of such colonies and societies in Papua, Uganda and other places. And there may be yet undiscovered ones as well. I see how you have evaded the question by recoursing to non-existence of such a society. The point is that you are relying entirely on a fallible society to define your own evaluation of good and evil.
Wait, I don't understand this. Diseases, death, abortion and self-defence are instances of evil?  huh
Yes, cos life is terminated, a potential is lost. And its tragic. Evil is an imperfection, a conflict with a system. Also i hate repeating myself too often. Tb has defined God, i ve defined evil and good. While u and enigma didnt read them.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 7:18pm On Nov 27, 2011
@thelstan

Restrictive bias?! There are many types of Gods, and i was simply specific on the God was talking about.

Why does evil apply only to humans? As i mentioned earlier, man is a conscious being with immense intellectual abilities which strives to control nature, his fate and achieve perfection, however he is limited and opposed by nature. Evil is the contradiction, the conflict and its tragic. It includes diseases, death, abortion, self-defence. While animals are trapped by simple desire to survive.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 9:59am On Nov 27, 2011
I would restrict God to the Muslim and Christian versions, since they claim their Gods are omnibenevolent. But to claim that whatever God does is good, undermines the fact that moral values are inherent in acts not agents.

Evil goes beyond subjective, its clearly the opposition to the full development of human potential. I feel evil is the conflict btw man and his surrounding. Like a design flaw.

Egypt should be the strongest in terms of training, equipment and size of the army.

In their war against Israel, they packed impressive hardware and numbers. They were involved in the largest tank battle till date. Whereas SA shows off nice special forces pics and apart from being mercenaries in tiny conflicts, they dont have much experience.

Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 8:59am On Nov 27, 2011
@the

there are cases of destruction, disability which immediately strike our minds as evil. However, if you see good as what God does without any barrier or choice involved, then he is not a moral being, who is capable of being good.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 11:16pm On Nov 26, 2011
^^^ within a moral code, its either right or wrong
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 10:29pm On Nov 26, 2011
If not because of my funny phone, i would highlighted the very very very clear parts of what i was saying. Never said necessary evil was good but tragic.

However, part of my view dont u agree with?
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 7:43pm On Nov 26, 2011
Mazaje thanx for that point!

@enigma, i ve never said on this forum that natural selection or survival was good. My definition was simple enough to make simple deductions; since in self-defence one takes another life its evil, but necessary not good.

Evil is a fundamental flaw in the system, its a corruption. Man strives as a dominant creature, with immense intellectual ability and inherently aims towards perfection. However he is forced into a contradiction, he armed for perfection but the world is against it.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 6:32pm On Nov 26, 2011
@enigma by necessary evil in the Speluncean case, i meant it was the only option they had if they wanted to survive. The lion case would appear to a human as evil.

Also, if a higher being selects a lesser evil, he is still evil.
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 3:07pm On Nov 26, 2011
@enigma i ve laid simple enough arguments. Apart from applying the def to ur cases, i said they are all evil, since they stifle human development.

@Horus thanx for the verse. One can conclude that the Christian God is not allgood since he created evil
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 2:04pm On Nov 26, 2011
All evil, from the definition it can easily be applied.

In the Speluncean Explorers case, necessary evil
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 11:41am On Nov 26, 2011
I ve clearly defined both terms of good and evil, also tbaba has defined God, while you didnt read any of them.

Can God be bad?
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 8:29am On Nov 26, 2011
@davidlyan

I doubt if you understood my definition of evil. I said it was the sum total opposition against the realisation of potential and full development of man towards perfection. I didnt mean mere 'pleasure', an imperfection. Though i apply evil to man exclusively, but ur example of a mottled flower is not evil, but its the result of evil such as; diseases, death.

@enigma

If good and bad can not apply to God, then he is not a moral being neither is he all good
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 12:35am On Nov 26, 2011
Freewill is often said to be the cause of evil, but since evil is an imperfection and creation is the reflection of the level of perfection of its creator. If God is all good and free will is a good end, then he would CHOOSE it as a moral being. Also, coupled with good judgement, a perfect being with freewill will not lapse into imperfection.

Also, there are evils that are beyond the control of man, especially natural disasters
Christianity Etc › Re: God And Evil by Kay17(op): 6:13pm On Nov 25, 2011
If God's assigned purpose of mankind is to stun it and limit its potential, then its an evil purpose.
