if that plane had blown up, this wouldn't be funny. the Nigeria is a failed state, and its incapable of stemming terrorism and key figures in the govt possibly sponsor it.

Temin:
PDP politicians and the greedy merchants in Lagos State should not come here to instigate us against Fashola. Tax invaders are used to making excessive profit from the state without putting something back. Now is pay time and they are crying to us to help them. NO NO let them pay.
If they make profits in billions their taxes should be in billions . Let us stop looking at what they are asked to pay but at what they make out of Lagos .
Some of them have never paid tax before . I pay tax from my little income, I am happy and proud to pay, more so I see my contributions effected and invested into the state.
I have been paying tax for the past years I have never been happy doing so as I am now when tax payers money is invested into the state
So my brother Go and pay your tax
what kind of dumbass nigga are you? the problem is not tax-paying, its excessive taxation on simple businessmen. it undermines the state's economy. maybe you are a stupiid communist.

Christianity Etc › Re: "why Do I Feel As I Do About My Religion?" by Kay17: 3:02pm On Dec 29, 2009
all the blame is always on the Catholic Church. this was the root of Christianity. if it is corrupt, then all the branches would be equally corrupt. deduct some books and conclude that the Bible is complete despite the extractions.

babapupa:
There's no need to get all bent up over nothing. What I posted clearly referenced taxes and the Governor making his case about taxes. Also, the topic of discussion clearly is about taxes and if for whatever reason, you find the info of no use to you, why not just move on, it's not like by force or I'm putting a gun to your head to read.

Lagos I believe is a capitalist state and if at the end of the day the state government made the wrong move about taxes, they'll feel it via the tax receipts, state bank account and business flight and make adjustment accordingly.  So far, developers have been getting away with absurd rental fees in the state, they basically over priced and over valued the real estate market. Even when the state wasn't taxing them, most of these developments charges well over 6-10 million naira a year and multiply that by 100 or more units/year then by ten years, were they giving the state a piece of the action? Of course not. The fact is, ask people to pay ten dollar tax and they'll still complain.

The fact that folks are here running mouth as if these useless developers gives a poo about you or the average Lagosian baffles me, they are not building their gated communities for you and me and we obviously can not afford them, their main targets are expats/multinationals, corrupt politicians, shady folks and they don't complain, they have more than enough money to throw at the developers. They've been making a killing for years and it's time for them to pay. When they build their expensive developments, they don't build their own roads, they don't build their own water works, sewage system, roads, erect their own street lights, they pass it on to the state.

These folks are building multi billion dollars properties every year and the state's yearly budget is only 2 billion dollars. How do you provide services for and look after 18 million people for just 2 billion dollars? How do you build roads, bridges, schools, run effective transportation system, waste management system, education system, health care system, maintain and upgrade existing infrastructure and still pay and maintain the state's civil service for just 2 million dollars?

The fact is, we see everyday what the state is doing with all the money and the state is a reference point in Nigeria and Africa in terms of development. We all know what the state was like just a little over 3 years ago. Other. states are sending their people to Lagos state for tutorials in development and public administration, Ghana and other African countries sent folks over.

Cross Rivers state's population is a little over 5 million and their budget for 2009 is 432 billion naira, more that Lagos state's budget with 18 million people and enormous service requirements, but look at the rate of development in Lagos state and Cross Rivers state, With just 5 million people and lower service demand in Cross Rivers, shouldn't that state be well ahead of Lagos in terms of development?

It's not by force to set up shop in Lagos state, the developers are free to go up north or east.
this guy is a blind loyalist to Fashola. also why tag law-abiding, tax-paying businessmen as scape-goats and as devils? they owe the state no duty to build its roads or hospitals or provide any public service whatsoever. they are trying to make a living and their contribution invaluble, provide employment and they deserve protection and security. they shouldn't pay absurd, excessive and criminal taxes. 400m for what? Fashola is a thieff!!!
Properties › Re: Fashola Stops Building Of New Houses In Lagos by Kay17: 12:54pm On Dec 22, 2009
the man is a saint?? no no! he is stealing and chopping money. apart from building street lights( that never go on), extending roads, or BRT and planting flowers. what else could be shown for his work. no ambulance service, no water, no light, no effective fire brigades, no social welfare, no metro. the guy is simply a demagogue, he is good at manipulating the crowd.
Politics › Re: Request For The Creation Of An Urhobo State by Kay17: 12:44pm On Dec 22, 2009
its obvious thats these are schemes, politicians use to acquire power and money. tribal affiliation was a 19th century thing! it has no solution to today's problems. it would not solve poverty, or unemployment, it would not guarantee us good governance. all the enumeration of resources are the list means to chop money.
how would a small state like that stand up to the Federal Govt, or fund its police? i sure the policemen would be walking bare-feet and using dane guns+ the bureaucratic burden would be enormous, providing pensions and salaries for its public workers. besides creation of Federal Police would be double work!

i can't bear watching Chelsea's matches, all those skyrocketin, the ball spends most of the time in the air. rthey just rely on a hard-rock defence, and drogba/lampard. but barca, there is ball-playing Pique, the talents of iniesta and xavi displayed in the midfield plus the golden boy MESSI. it pleasurable waching them.

death, natural strikes fear and uncertainty, thus we tend to accept stories of eternity and pleasure. the reality is simple but callous, we cease to exist after death.
@Deep sight,

thank you! Just go thru' that chicken-atheist post of over 3400 posts , the dude hasnt made any sense since, i once asked him with all politeness to tell me his simple and candid definition about what he professes he believes and all he could do was shower abuses as if that was all he was ever trained in school to do. I was not surprise to find out that the she-male's reason for denying a sweet God and loving Father he once served was born out of the anger that he slept in a supposed poultry or canal to verify some chicken goozzy goddess whom did not appear to him either. i cant help but have been laffing same for my colleagues in the office. men Tudor is a clown. i love the dude sorry she-male so much.MY FATHER GOD DWELLS IN HEAVEN AND NOT IN THE CEMENTARY.

Go thru' huxley's post and some renowned atheist here, you will observe that they've taken their diseased obsession higher by spreading the fallasies thru' twitter and facebook. Safe for the napkin dude WHO PHINKS HIS DEFINITION OF ATHEISM IS TO PERSONALLY ATTACK SOME SIMPLE MEN WHO IN DECADES MAY NOT EVEN MEET THE INSIGNIFICANT DOT.  grin grin grin grin

Mr.Cemetary-sleeper come out and give me a candid definition of Atheism lest you forever remain silent. i didnt say so, the jury did.! Pathetic loser! grin grin grin grin compliments of the season
tudor shouldn't be condemned for trying to verify those claims, at least now he knows that he shouldn't have bothered himself. tonye hasn't made sense either, spewing out garbage, "my God is in the sky and i can't see him and dead people go to the sky" thats nonsense! the bible is there to justify mass murder committed out of religious intolerance and blindness by people like Hitler. kind-hearted God smiting people while forsaking the helpless. prove your God exists! you also lack direction, hanging on the tails of other people and labelling them as great men. plato was a great man but believed Zeus existed!! just get real!

bimbo odukoya, was said to have conducted a prayer session in the plane, to cast out the demon of plane crashes.
its kind of funny for a faith-healer to succumb to sickness which he was supposed to be immune to. at least his miracles should have included him.
generally, God had favoured his men and granted them long life and glorious and if possible send chariots of flames to pick them up.(from the bible). smiley

the essence of punishment should be foremost, as long as the punishment serves as a good deterrent to the offence committed, its fine. Retribution is not much of a good excuse, its too primitive.
