Mortal Kombat Legends - Battle of the Realms 6.5/10
After the awesomeness that was Scorpion's Revenge, we were expecting a follow up of similar or better quality. Well, Battle of the Realms came back dripping with the style of its predecessor but forgot to bring along the substance as well.
The plot juggles too many characters and subplots a d with a runtime of just a little over an hour, it fails to flesh them out satisfactorily. Emotions play out like a bad telenovela and it's difficult for the viewer to care about a lot of what's happening on screen.
The fight choreography and animation are still a beauty to watch though, especially the duo of Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
I'd go in with low expectations for this one. Just switch off your brain and enjoy the action with popcorn or chin chin.

Cruella
I can't objectively review or rate this. Somewhere along the runtime, I checked out mentally and basically just finished the rest of the movie on autopilot.
I can't really point at anything I can objectively say they did wrong, well except for the obvious feminazi agenda in the movie. The movie just wasn't for me. |

CoolUsername: I'm looking for good manga recommendations. Bonus points for non-Shonen Jump titles (Jump+ is still cool). Any genre (maybe except sports) is OK as long as it's dope. Not the biggest fan of manhua/webtoons but if you think the title is worth checking out, please have a go. My cousin recommends Sun-Ken Rock. |

Skseries: MOS wasn't a master piece if u cant see it check urself.
U ever wonder why the generally movie goers never liked it? As complex as Nolan movies are it's generally accepted as master piece And those are even original unlike a movie that already have source materials.
So if a small chunk of the population sees it as a master piece and the major population doesn't then I don't get ur argument, cus it's not like it's me that told them all not to like it. General movie goers didn't what now?

AnfieldFan: Zack's movie was better because it had four hours to put a lot of things in contest.. Fundamentals remain the same ...You and I know this... He added more slow mo scenes, cut Whedon's ineffective comedy(WB specifically requested for this), and changed Steppenwolf's armour.. You can say he gave Characters more soul and backstory e.g Cyborg, Flash e.t.c but it still points to my earlier point about having four hours to have a more cohesive and better story...He wouldn't have had that luxury if it was Cinema.. Implying Snyder's Justice league was groundbreaking just doesn't resonate with me.... The only fundamental that remains the same is the premise. Earth's heroes banding together to defend the earth against Steppenwolf. Plot is executed differently. Character motivations and development are different. Not to mention entire characters that weren't in the Whedon movie. Who implied it was groundbreaking though? |
TV/Movies › Re: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Kaycee7(m): 3:26pm On Sep 12, 2021 |
AnfieldFan: I think if Snyder's cut was theatrical.... Removing the excessive slow mo scenes and grand posing would have cut like an hour off.... More like 30 mins. Whedon's being bad made Snyder's look great though it was basically the same.. Basically the same? Did you watch ZSJL or somebody told you about it? |
TV/Movies › Re: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Kaycee7(m): 1:29pm On Sep 12, 2021 |
Skseries: like I always say, if it was a theatrical release he won't have that luxury of 4hrs. Movie was just ok in my opinion, if it was strip down to 2 to 3hrs not sure it will have been been an okay movie self. The core is still the same with the josh release. I dey try understand the bold statement abeg |

VerifiedStalin: The popular votes are heavily influenced by fans, are they not? It's brigading 101. And Shang Chi's isn't heavily influenced by fans? Spoken like a true Snydra lol. I mean, why would you defend a film you haven't even seen? Anyways, Netflix doesn't care about rigged or gamed streaming numbers as long as the outcome is very beneficial to the company. Like every mega corporation, its motivation is purely revenue based. I'm not arguing AotD's quality. I'm just wondering why the brigading squad couldn't game its ratings same way they gamed ZSJL's. I mean if they could game the streaming numbers, audience polls sound like a piece of cake. |

AnfieldFan: Hmmm....What do you think of Army of the dead.. When I reviewed the movie on the movies thread...I asked two questions... Nobody's answered them till now...I was expecting Purple or abduleez1 to explain to me because they both rated the movie highly...
I think Snyder fans like him more than his recent works...Army of the dead is proof of that....So in a way, one can say it was truly brigaded...(Snyder fans putting it to WB) I haven't seen it yet. |
TV/Movies › Re: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Kaycee7(m): 8:43pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
VerifiedStalin: Nope, not the same thing.
Shang-Chi is a theatrical release, rated PG-13, thus accessible to a very broad audience. Meanwhile, ZSJL didn't have a theatrical release, rated R, thereby limiting it to a specific demographic. Apples and orange, chief. The former is easily accessible and crafted to appeal to casuals and families, while the later is more of a niche product. Logically, ZSJL should be more susceptible to brigading, because the majority of audience share a common interest, as opposed to the much more varied audience of Shang-Chi, no? Is ZSJL's case really brigading? Or is it more a case of a movie being successful with its target audience? Can the Snydra fanbase really be accused of brigading if they were the majority that watched and rated the movie? The dark days are far from over, but things have started to look up.
Nope, Snyder fans brigaded the movie. Boy, aren't we busy bees? From gaming audience polls to rigging streaming numbers? Funny how Netflix doesn't realize that and is making a prequel but you on the outside are privy to this information. |
TV/Movies › Re: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Kaycee7(m): 6:31pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
VerifiedStalin: Marvel Studios has consistently churn out high grossing movies that the casual movie goer has come to associate the brand as a synonym to quality entertainment. If Shang-Chi is getting brigaded, then the blame should lie squarely with the casuals, cuz obviously they are loving what they see. In my experience, you don't upvote what you don't like. Then apparently, most people who watched ZSJL liked what they saw. In case you don't know this already, I'd like to point out that brigading is not exclusively an upvote thing, it's also a downvote thing. When a group of people that share a common interest converge to influence a vote negatively or positively, it's called brigading. Therefore, you're not asking the right question, You should be asking "What's the origin of the recurring brigading prevalent amongst DC fandom?" Long story short, the disharmony within the DCEU has divided fans into many subgroups, and often these subgroups fight each other. The poorly rated DCEU movies reflect the infighting going on within the DC fandom, and the disconnection between WB, DC, and fans. Well seems those days are behind us. From ZSJL to The Suicide Squad, great audience reception. Army of the Dead was brigaded. It's one of Netflix' most popular film, isn't it? In fact it's so popular that it's getting a prequel no one asked for. So Netflix brigaded the movie? |
