realestniggah: Such as? - Freddie didn't just meet the rest of the band on the day of their first performance. He had known 2 of them previously. He also didn't meet his wife that day. - The producer that refuses to have Bohemian Rhapsody as the single that they walked out on is fictional. - Freddie didn't meet Jim Hutton as a caterer at one of his parties. - The rest of the band didn't find out about his AIDS diagnosis till almost a year after the Live Aid concert. - The band never broke up. |

realestniggah: One of the most accurate biographical movie I have ever seen.. Wonderful casting.. Rami maleek deserve that Oscar.. He might never be able to top that performance.. You gotta give it to Hollywood...they really tried with this movie.. .before this movie I never knew a band like Queen existed.. The movie opened me to a whole new world of Queen.. And that Live aid performance was simply wow.. So accurate. Actually for a biopic, there were a lot of glaring inaccuracies. But aside from that, yeah, it was really good. |

Bohemian Rhapsody 8/10
Even with all the historical accuracies, this was an engaging story and a pretty good tribute to Queen or Freddie, as the movie basically centred on him. Rami Malek really deserved that award. He absolutely resurrected Freddie Mercury. The rest of the cast did good, too. And the music selection was awesome. Some tracks were a no-brainer to be in the movie but they also added a few gems in there. The conclusion with the Live Aid performance was breathtaking. I'll make out time and see the actual live performance but the recreation was fantastic.

Logic007: 1. People who have nollywood as their main genre of movies tend to favour movies with simplistic plots and overacting. Drama. That same logic works with people that seriously watch reality tv, they tend to be less intelligent. Well, this is some bullshit stereotyping. I know very intelligent people that watch reality TV. Nollywood is not a genre. It's an entire movie industry with a lot of diverse offerings. What of the Americans that watch Hollywood movies exclusively and still favour movies with simplistic plots? 2. Not liking joker is not the problem. The problem is the reason for not liking it and how it is expressed.
I dont like romance movies because I am not romantic as a personal bias. However, I will still applaud a good romance film. I did not like 500 days of summer but I will always point out that it was a good movie.
Now, the people saying that the joker is boring or overrated cannot get out of their own personal bias. You might not like the joker but dont bring it down based solely on your own bias. |

Logic007: I experienced something similar.
A lot of Nigerians have a bad taste in movies due to nollywood and bollywood movies. Olodo24: I saw Joker today at film House
Some viewers left before the film ended. They told me it was too dry and empty. Nollywood don brainwash many Nigerians.
I don't think it's a masterpiece but it's a decent work and Phoenix is very good in it. He should better win that Oscar o Nollywood and Bollywood have nothing to do with anyone's taste in movies. And not liking Joker doesn't mean they have bad taste in movies or have been brainwashed. |

safarigirl: there are people with both names being English, you know I know that's why I said more the work of your surname, instead of specifically designating that task fully to the surname. Sometimes even the surnames won't help with identification. |

safarigirl: you are making a lot of false assumptions of my person on this write-up.
I am only using English because you would not understand me in my native language, the English man, will use a language natives understand when he leaves his own land, will he not? If you are in China, is it English you will speak?
You cannot compare a name, which is a primary source of identity, to any of these things you have mentioned. No matter where you go, your name is your first means of identification. Your name can tell of your origin faster than anything else. Whether you speak your language or not, if you tell me, your name is Oghenekevwe, I already have an idea of your origin, if you tell me it is Kevin, I have no idea and for the duration of our engagement, I will be unaware of your origin. You have no true identity
You ought to come up with more intelligent arguments than these things you lot constantly regurgitate to justify your lack of self worth. On the point of a name being a means of identification, that's more the work of your surname than your first names. My uncle gave some of his kids Yoruba, Edo, Ijaw & Erik names. Both he and his wife are Igbo. But you most likely can't identify my cousins as Igbo by their first names. |

safarigirl: You sound triggered. You must have one of those slave names, some of you take it more personal the it should be. Fela sang about slave names too, not everything should be taken so personal.
My siblings have slave names, and they laugh when we call it that.
PS: English names over native names is worse, because that is a sign of low self esteem, zero pride in your culture and your history. Slavery of the mind. Better to have PTSD than to have low self esteem and slavery of the mind. How many Europeans give their kids African tribal names? But Africans want to be accepted by their white massas so bad, some of them embrace their slave names over their native names. Even some of the slave descendants have started discarding English names to go for more African names, but those in Africa seek the white man's validation heavily, and are enslaving themselves for it. Why can't people just pick a name because they like it? Why do you feel anybody picking a foreign name has some sort of slave mentality? I personally feel people who are generally antagonistic towards white or foreign culture are the ones with the slave mentality. They still feel like slaves which is why they feel they have to prove that they aren't. Fela sang about a lot of stuff. Not all of them were objectively right. He was just sharing his opinions and views like any other artist. Thankfully, according to you, I don't have a slave name as my foreign name isn't English. |

safarigirl: Basically, any nonnative name can be a slave name, but particularly English, because Nigeria was colonized by England and the English took the most slaves from here.
Japanese and Chinese were never part of the slave trade, neither were Russians. As far as Nigeria is concerned and the tansatlantic slave trade, slave name is any English name. This just feels like some kinda inherited PTSD. Discriminating against names because of stuff that happened years ago. Not to mention kinda racist. A slave name can only be given to a slave by a slave owner. As long as you or your parents choose a name, it can't be a slave name no matter where it's from. |
