I think being straight forward was intentional because Blanc himself said he was expecting a complicated case with complicated motives and opportunities. The reason being that it involved Miles, who Blanc thought was a genius, and his disruptor friends. I think we the audience has the same expectations. It turns out that Blanc could have easily found Andi’s killer if he actually had time to question the disruptors one after the other before Duke was murdered. This further confirms that Miles is just a genius we thought he was.
"Confirms that Miles is just a genius we thought he was". Am I reading that right or is there a typo in there?
DandeNumeruno: When Chris Evans is among the suspects, there's not much of a red herring. I knew it was him from the start, but I wanted to know how he did it, so I kept watching. In the end, I was mostly satisfied with the outcome.
Glass Onion is unique. Again, the killer is obvious, but the story is no longer about the murder mystery, it is a social commentary rich in symbolism and irony.
I recommend watching it again and paying close attention to the clues. It's a hilarious examination of influencer culture.
I got the influencer culture digs. Pointed out one in my postscript.
Alright, if it's not too much trouble, sell me on the rather dramatic ending.
DandeNumeruno: I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. It only matched the first film, it surpassed it.
Glass Onion excels because it transcends the murder mystery genre. It has several layers but is transparent, much like the title. Essentially, it is a mystery that is not a mystery. Although the murderer is obvious, there is more going on that meets the eye.
Did it really? First movie had a pretty great red herring with Ana de Armas' character. Glass Onion ended up feeling rather straight forward. Not much twists and turns on that ride.
oyaskii: It's still a head-scratcher why folks keep saying they don't understand "Tenet". giving, one might simply not get it on first watch but there are tons of trusted articles and sub reds explaining the entirety of the it in such delicate details that seeing it again armed with these explained details, might be a breeze.
Same. Like if they're saying there are some scenes they don't understand in detail, I can understand that but when they talk about not understanding the plot or parts of the plot, they lose me.
The Protagonist and the Tenet military team deviced a plan to launch a temporal pincer, both normal and inverted attacks at the same time to distract Sator's forces so the Protagonist and Commander Ives can then use that opportunity to steal the algorithm. One of Sator's men traps the two of them but a Tenet soldier sacrifices himself to save them. The Protagonist later discovers that Neil (Pattinson) is the soldier who sacrificed himself while inverted.
Rian Johnson did quite the amazing job with the first Knives Out movie and I feel he'd probably have done better with this one if he'd been less concerned about giving Elon Musk the finger. Yes, Rian, your less than subtle placeholder Musk character didn't go unnoticed.
Props to Johnson, he does deliver an interesting and entertaining mystery story, through the first and second acts. The third act ends up feeling rather a bit underwhelming. It felt as though the mystery got resolved right as it started picking up steam and the whole burn-it-down sequence felt a bit anticlimactic.
Glass Onion, all in all, is still a pretty enjoyable mystery movie. Just fell a bit of the mark of matching its predecessor.
P.S: Haven't really noticed anyone talking about the jab to the conservative red pill alpha male side of the internet taken with Bautista's character. Another evidence that most people won't recognize the "forced wokeism and agenda" they claim to hate until some YouTuber points it out, usually when the movie or series has poor ratings as well.
I enjoyed every bit of this musical and reminded me that musicals can be very entertaining if done right. The movie is funny, the songs are very catchy and themes of loss and redemption, moving.
That ending was totally unexpected but it turned around for good.
Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell are such amazing singers. Whew!!
Here's a sample of Ryan and Will goofing around on set and I'm pleasantly surprised that they were able to harmonise despite Will singing in falsetto
zeeace: Please o guys is see bingeable worthy? I don't have the time to waste on something I will come and regret later.
Might as well not watch anything at all. What happens when someone says "Yes, it's bingeable worthy" but you end up not liking the show? Isn't your time also wasted?
abduleez1: Funny enough the same problems is also plaguing Nollywood. There's no top tier very popular movie without seeing a host of oldies gracing it even tho you see youngies here and there.
That Lee Min Ho sef I no know am before. Na Pachinko make me Sabi am sef. I reach Film Twitter come shock as fans dey Stan am.
Na mainly those their girlie romance TV shows na im the guy grow from.
Ah! Na im be say Lee no thief your girlfriend back in the day
Before BTS boys na the homie dey tension us that year.
Can't even recognize the dude in a pic but we all knew the name. He was big in the early 2010s.
The concepts of Izanagi and Izanami is still confusing some Naruto fans in 2022...
If I recall correctly, the Uchiha clan could perfrom Izanagi without Senju cells
Izanagi is based on the technique called The Creation of All Things. Just like it, Izanagi turns imagination into reality.
An Imperfect Izanagi is what the Uchiha do without Senju cells. Even with Senju Cells, Danzo didn't perfect it
Obito on the other hand could use the Izanagi for 10 minutes against Konan...and I believe he was able to use a part of the Creation of All Things Jutsu
abduleez1: I dey tell you. Nothing new... No new flavor from Bollywood. Na just Shah Rukh Khan dem dey shout always. Hollywood has scores of actors in their prime that one can call upon.
The one that needs to be discussed is Hong Kong or China wood. Cos I no understand how that industry take just jazz down fiam just like that. Wetin Naija dey craze for for how many years and generations. Since dem Jet Li and Jackie Chan era, na Donnie Yen dem don produce since and the IP Man franchise. The only export na Michelle Yeoh and yet na Malaysian.
Asides that, na nothingness. Imperial and nationalistic China don finish that industry.
They seem to be having the same problem with Bollywood. No new breakout star. Old men and women still headlining their box office. They should sha take notes from Korea. Small boys don dey take over from Lee Min-Ho.
IngeniousLeez: I pray make I no chop ban sha. Bollywood don tire me and I have washed my hand off that industry for the past 2 yrs. Na this RRR wey I see for Best Foreign Film and Lagaan wey them dey hype wan make me sample am back.
Korea and Japan have actively taken that spot for my foreign language itch.
Bollywood butchered their industry with nepotism. And after the class of the 90s/early 2000s (Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor's set), they haven't really grown new mega stars. The best person they have to offer on blockbusters currently is Tiger Schroff and he's mid asf.
GloriousGbola: America won ww2 with the nuclear bomb. Did that make the world safer? Did it guarantee no more war?
All that happens when you get a super power of sorts in an environment where there is war or tension, is an arms race.
World War II was fought barely a generation after World War I. Infact, some soldiers that served during WW1 participated in WW2 as well.
But since WW2, there hasn't been another world war, most likely, due to the fact that another world war would be a nuclear war, which is basically mutually assured destruction (MAD). Now, as most countries have leaders that are either sane enough or not lunatic enough to want MAD, that has prevented a world war for near a century. With quite a number of different variables, I don't really think the world war predicament makes for a proper analogy.
Baddestguyp: what are the proper answers... Even you ran to reddit to check answers to the post cos you had no answer lol Maybe I should have hidden the topic to wait for you to reply first
And not a single answer there has been satisfactory...none lol
Ran to Reddit to check answers? This nigga thinks everyone takes Reddit posts as seriously as he does
Answers will never be satisfactory when you're not really asking questions.
Baddestguyp: the crazy thing is when they escape, they return fueled for revenge and where else do they target? "Batman's City"
For revenge and to lure out Batman
Before Batman, Gotham survived for 100s of years even with their corrupt police, all of a sudden Batman came to reduce small-scale crime and instead attracted large-scale villains
Now the poor city and it's residents faces nukes and supernatural villains that can wipe it out of existence
abduleez1: Mehn, that elbow drop was crazy and that knockdown she did with her knee and Lasso.
Me sef, I no too remember the other females in that fight. I only remember Superwoman as well. Cos I think that Crime Syndicate team had just 2 or 3 females and Vixen wasn't in it. I'm thinking it's a compilation of other fights cos the first ones look like JL series fight.
Same thoughts here. I really don't see how I'd forget WW fighting Olympia, especially seeing how epic it looks from this clip alone. Anyway, if they're not all in the movie, I'll find the proper sauce and watch.
abduleez1: I hope we see more hand to hand combatant Wonder Woman like this in future films. Gal Gadot's WW was limited to mostly Armour, sword and Lasso.
The fight scene between Wonder Woman and Superwoman was god tier.
Might need to rewatch Crisis on Two Earths cos I only remember her fight with Superwoman. But then again, that suplex and elbow drop are hard to forget.
