Education / Re: Should I Apply For Medicine Considering My Age? by kayrichy: 12:17am On Oct 17, 2022
MrCool007:
Go for it . I'm a doctor. I had classmates who were in their thirties and married in medical school. I personally know one who supported himself by selling recharge cards and phone accessories, and also married with 2 kids. Nothing is impossible. It's a question of how much and why you want it. You don't want to go through life with regret.

Health / Re: Norway Records 29 Death Of The Elderly After Administering Pfizer COVID Vaccine by kayrichy: 2:03pm On Jan 17, 2021
You are right..the 42,000 include the immunosuppressed and vulnerable class which may also include people less than 75 years of Age.
Health / Norway Records 29 Death Of The Elderly After Administering Pfizer COVID Vaccine by kayrichy: 11:05am On Jan 17, 2021
Norway expressed increasing concern about the safety of the Pfizer Inc. vaccine on elderly people with serious underlying health conditions after raising an estimate of the number who died after receiving inoculations to 29.

The latest figure adds six to the number of known fatalities in Norway, and lowers the age group thought to be affected to 75 from 80. While it’s unclear exactly when the deaths occurred, Norway has given at least one dose to about 42,000 people and focused on those considered most at risk if they contract the virus, including the elderly.

Until Friday, the vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech SE was the only one available in Norway, and “all deaths are thus linked to this vaccine,” the Norwegian Medicines Agency said in a written response to Bloomberg on Saturday.

“There are 13 deaths that have been assessed, and we are aware of another 16 deaths that are currently being assessed,” the agency said. All the reported deaths related to “elderly people with serious basic disorders,” it said. “Most people have experienced the expected side effects of the vaccine, such as nausea and vomiting, fever, local reactions at the injection site, and worsening of their underlying condition.”

Official reports of allergic reactions have been rare as governments rush to roll out vaccines to try to contain the global pandemic. U.S. authorities reported 21 cases of severe allergic reactions from Dec. 14-23 after administration of about 1.9 million initial doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The first Europe-wide safety report on the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is due to be published at the end of January.

Australia’s Concern

Australia, which has an agreement for 10 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, is seeking urgent information on the issue from the producer, health authorities and Norway’s government, Health Minister Greg Hunt told reporters in Melbourne on Sunday.

Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration will seek “additional information, both from the company, but also from the Norwegian medical regulator,” Hunt said. Australia’s foreign ministry will also contact its counterpart in Norway on the issue.

ACE or ACE inhibitors?
This could be your first line therapy ..but researc Showed that they work better with loop diuretics(furosemide) and metolazone.

grandlexuz:

Dont mind the mumu. Sorry to hear you have CKD. It is not a dead sentence at all and depends on the stage and your GFR. Are you diabetic? Do you have high blood pressure? Are you seeing a nephrologist (Kidney doctor)? There are medications known as ACE and ARB that slow progression of CKD while helping with other causes like diabetes and high blood pressure.
Health / Re: 20 Million Nigerians Battle Kidney Disease, Expensive Treatment by kayrichy: 8:47pm On Jan 02, 2021
You seem to forget that Age is also risk factor for CKD and the decrease in kidney function is directly proportional to your age...As we grow older, the kidney loses it function by 5percent annually for a normal person and by 10 to 20 percent with underlying diseases ..Not to forget that west Africans are prone to CKd With genetic etiology
I feel his statistics is correct taking Age and our lifestyle in this part of the world as an indicaton.

drdrei09:
20 million... Maybe including pyelonephritis and other kidney diseases caused by STIs. Many young and old Nigerians carry one or more sexually transmitted infections about.
Health / Re: Heart Attacks And Hemorrhagic Strokes: Do Nigerians Survive These Attacks? by kayrichy: 1:50pm On Dec 09, 2020
We are so lackadaisical or literally non chalant in this part of the world. The only time we visit the hospital is when our cases are critical and we expect a magic. You don’t have to be ill before you go for check up.most of this illness are preventable with lifestyle modification and proper maintenance medication.Doctors could assess a 10year risk of having stoke and other complications with what they call ASCVD and prevent cerebrovascular disease by placing the patient on medication. Many of this death are avoidable.
I have always advocated for addition of Basic life support (BLS) to be added to our curriculum irrespective of being a paramedic/medic but all we do is still repeating same curriculum we have been using since 80s .It won’t just work.

NYSC / Re: Lies About Sex During NYSC Camp & After Camp by kayrichy: 4:02am On Dec 05, 2020
Really? Things have really changed in Nigeria.I served in 2014 in yipkata ,Kwara state.I can authoritatively tell you we had cooks .i still watched the video of my activities in the kitchen lately. I am sure those who served during this period will affirm to that.
ubee:
Which kind of camp you dey wey dem give una cook? In my time everyone can eat at mammy market. When did Nigeria NYSC start providing cooks?
Health / Re: Please Help, I'm Always Fatigued And I Sleep A lot. by kayrichy: 1:17pm On Dec 04, 2020
Do you also snore .i mean loudly and pulsating. If yes..it could be a possible sleep apnea.
Reduce your weight and do more physical exercise.
Sleep apnea causes sleepiness during the day(hypersomnia) and fatigue as well
I won’t rule out hypothyroidism .

CaptainZubi:
For about 5 years now I've been battling extreme tiredness . Asides that I sleep alot most especially at afternoons. At night, nonce I sleep around 11pm and not going to work the next day, I can wake up by 10am or 11 am.

During afternoon and night sleeps, the sleep is usually very deep (REM phase or whatever you medics call it, please correct me) and usually characterized by heavy dreams.

Even during work, I'll always take the risk to create some time to have a little sleep. I've been battling this for about 5 years now. What could be wrong.

We had cook during our time and sometimes my platoon was designated to help in the kitchen..The worst thing about the story was that the Corp member was smashed on the bag of beans where the food stuffs was stored.

You are an OTONDO
A male cook was even caught in the kitchen smashing a Corp member.I became a security man to my army friends who also smashed corp members in bush in the night...Don’t ask me how I got to know...I was a platoon president and was fully involved in the doings on the camp ground.
zoputa:
It is true that NYSC time is a time of freedom and a time of fun, but there are some exaggerations to this... i

If I am lying, let any Corp member oppose my statement. NYSC is made to look like people get sex littered all over the place, and to make it look like Various married women sleep around there. I can tell you one truth. This is a hyped statement. You do not get sex anyhow from NYSC ladies, neither is there reckless sex in the camp...

All these statements of reckless sex in CAMP or after CAMP is not totally true, as some corpers know I am saying the truth. If I am telling a lie, ask many NYSC guys if they got sex freely from NYSC girls.

Many NYSC ladies are not cheap, so do not think you will see free sex anyhow in CAMP or after CAMP. Where I served, we had corper ladies that no corper guy ever touched...

Please shun these hyp to prevent being disappointed in NYSC. Go and serve Nigeria well.

Your story is a similar one.i had a b.tech in biochemistry and proceeded with my masters.i didn’t stop there until I graduated Doctor of medicine..and now I feel fulfilled.Nothing stops you from doing even more bro..The end is what matters.
SILVERLINES:
Congratulations sir

It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.

As a child I have been really dreamt of studying med/surgery, but I ended up with biochemistry and proceeded with an M.Sc but every night my heart keep panting reminding me that I have a role to play in the health sector than being a mere biochemist without significantly working in anyway related to heath. After all this trouble going through my heart I am definitely willing to return back to the root and accomplish this dream.
So help me God!

CQ trial has been suspended due to high mortality rate with people with comorbidities but HCQ trial is ongoing
kikero:

Well ,.I work in the medical field, and I was taught that drug testing comes in phases, and that before a drug.is unleashed on the public, it must undergo phase 3 testing.

All I want is for chloroquine to undergo phase 3 testing, blinded, against placebo. If it works better than placebo, or any other drug, then good.

I also have no objection to anyone using chloroquine,.azithromycin, etc in treating covid19, the problem is, they are not proven to cure it.

And I don't like CNN by the way. I get my news from a variety of sources.
Health / Re: Dr. Stella Emmanuel On COVID-19: 'With Hydroxychloroquine I Cured 350 Patients' by kayrichy: 2:39pm On Jul 28, 2020
Trials on HCQ was suspended by the WHO solidarity group set up for clinical trials and was again reintroduced back to the trial...I really feel it’s more on politics..HCQ,azithromycin and ascorbic acid truly reduces mortality as the case maybe...
adakoleagbenu:

IT'S NOT A SCAM. IT'S JUST THAT IT'S NOT AS FATAL AS WHO AND THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT ARE PAINTING IT. THIS DOCTOR IS NOT THE FIRST. GOOGLE DR DIDIER RAOULT, DR ZEV ZELENKO ETC...
THEY HAVE BEEN TREATING PATIENTS WITH HYDROXYLCHLOROQUINE, ZINC AND AZITHROMYCIN AND HAVE RECORDED VERY MINIMAL DEATHS. THEY ARE OF THE OPINION THAT "EARLY TREATMENT" IS KEY AND NOT WAITING TILL HOSPITALIZATION, THE BIG PHARMA ARE SERIOUSLY SUPPRESSING THIS BECAUSE THEY SEE THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE MONEY AND PUSH THE VACCINE NARRATIVE. AND THE LANCET JOURNAL STUDY ON HYDROXYLCHLOROQUINE WAS RETRACTED BECAUSE IT WAS FRAUDULENT WHICH TELLS YOU ALOT. AND THE HYDROXYLCHLOROQUINE STUDY IN BRAZIL WAS ALSO QUESTIONED BECAUSE THE GAVE EXTREMELY HIGH DOSES DURING THE STUDIES. WHY GIVE OVER 1500MG OF HYDROXYLCHLOROQUINE IN A DAY?

IF HYDROXYLCHLOROQUINE DOES NOT WORK , WHY SUPPRESSING IT AND CARRYING OUT FALSE STUDIES??

IT IS A CHEAP DRUG WITH NO PATENT. NO SOLE PHARMA CAN MAKE IT, AND THIS IS MAKING THE BIG PHARMA LIKE GILEAD VERY MAD AND THIS BIG PHARMA HAVE CONNECTIONS IN HOSPITALS, SPONSORS DOCTORS ETC. THEIR REMEDIVISIR COSTS $3000 WHILE HYDROXYLCHLOROQUINE GOES FOR LESS THAN $50.

NO NEED FOR PANIC. IF YOU HAVE SERIOUS COLD AND CARTARRH, YOU STAY AT HOME AND TREAT YOURSELF
THAT'S THE SAME WITH COVID 19 TEST, TREAT AND THAT'S ALL. WHO IS SPREADING PANIC TO FAVOUR BIG PHARMA VACCINE AND EXPENSIVE DRUG NARRATIVE.
