PoliticsBetty Akeredolu: I Survived Breast Cancer By Removing My Breast by Kayus4real(op): 6:51am On Nov 12, 2017
I chose to remove my breast to survive cancer –Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu

Mrs. Betty Akeredolu is the wife of the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN). She talks about the need for adequate awareness on breast cancer and how she survived an encounter with the disease with PETER DADA

How would you describe your encounter with breast cancer?

I am a breast cancer survivor, 20 years now and still counting. It all started in 1997 when I was diagnosed with it. I never knew anyone who had that experience and the little information I got from the cable television stations wasn’t something we were familiar with. That morning when I felt something in my breast, of course, my mind raced to breast cancer because of where the thing was located. I was scared because I didn’t know what to do. It happened when I was resting at home during my annual leave. It got me thinking of what to do if it turned out to be breast cancer.

How old were you at the time?

I was forty-two or forty-three

What thought came to your mind when you discovered it was cancer?

My little children came to my mind; I thought of what would become of them.

What did you do next?

I kept it to myself for almost one week. I didn’t know what to do. My baby was four years old or thereabout. I tuned to television one morning and what I heard was a programme being advertised that it could save one’s life. Immediately I heard that, I just stood up from the bed and sat down, wondering what the programme was all about. It happened to be a programme about a breast cancer survivor’s journey. I cannot explain such a coincidence.

It really saved my life. There was this white woman on the show and it was her journey through breast cancer that was on air. She happened to be the mother of popular Hollywood actors, the Bubbling Brothers; they are popular in Hollywood. She went through the treatment and then called herself a survivor. She was sharing her experience to the world. She used the chronicle of her journey to lift up the spirit of those undergoing such experience and I benefitted from it. That was how I summoned the courage to go to the hospital. I said whatever this woman did to survive and ensure her story’s positive impact on other women suffering from same ailment, I am going to be like her.

It was after the examination that the doctor again confirmed there was a lump. Even at that stage, he didn’t know what it was. I want to quickly emphasise something; it is part of the awareness campaign on breast cancer – that when a woman notices a lump in her breast, she cannot say what that lump is until she sees a doctor. It is the doctor that will recommend a test. It is after the test that she can know whether what she has is breast cancer or not.

What was the reaction of your husband when you informed him?

When I told my husband, he was scared but he didn’t know that I had been fortified by the TV programme I watched. I think he must have wondered where I got the strength because I was on my feet and already prepared that whatever that woman did, I was going to do it and be okay. From then, my treatment commenced. The next line of treatment was mastectomy. By then, the level of my breast health care was at the rudimentary level. That was in 1997. It was still the same radical mastectomy; I said remove the damn thing if that would make me live. We did that and the rest is history.

What motivated you since many women may find it difficult to take the bold step you took?

Like I always tell women, surviving breast cancer is all about attitude. If you lose it, it can be very difficult because some women, immediately they are told they would lose their breasts, are already gone. Some of them will say, their husband may marry another woman with two complete breasts. The man shouldn’t be on the radar; rather, the women should be more concerned about their children. They must do everything to live and take care of the children because they can not tell the character of the woman that their husbands would marry. Some women reject mastectomy and run to a pastor who will be giving them holy water or Jerusalem oil to rub on the affected part because they don’t want to lose their breasts; but at the end of the day, they return with decayed breasts. Is it not better you lose breast and live and be well for your children and husband than be preoccupied that your husband will leave you and marry someone else? You have to live before you talk about enjoying marriage.

One comes first before the other. Being one-breasted doesn’t really define you. Like I told a woman, when your husband first saw you, he never saw your unclothedness. Even after mastectomy, you can still have a baby; yes, you can breastfeed with one breast. But you must be alive to do that.

What is your view on the belief of many that it is better to seek medical help abroad when diagnosed with breast cancer?

I had a successful treatment and everything was done at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. That also brings the point that the country doesn’t know what it has because we have everything to make this country great. I think those that are taking the decisions are the ones not talking highly of what this nation can be. When I had the surgery, there was petrol scarcity. We bought fuel in jerrycan and went to my consultant to give him to use because I needed to get the treatment done. I was lucky mine was found at stage one. It took me one week and I went to the hospital. There were other women, because the symptom wasn’t painful, they carried on not knowing that they were delaying something dangerous.

Do you think there is enough awareness about breast cancer at the grass roots?

Awareness is not enough because you need to first let them understand the behaviour of the disease. If you don’t explain to them, they will keep thinking it is juju and spiritual attack. We need to have robust awareness and consistency too, like what was done to HIV/AIDS. I think we should bring breast cancer to that level and keep talking about it. A woman must be familiar with her breasts. If she is not familiar with how her breasts look, there is no way she can notice any unusual change. When you tell our women to do this, they will tell you ‘God forbid’ and that they are covered by the blood of Jesus.

We must figure how to explain it to our women, especially those who didn’t receive much education. We need to bring it down to our people so that they don’t have to waste their time at prayer mountains: science is science. We can still break it down to the language they understand. In China, everything is expressed in Chinese and it is the same thing with most Asian countries. The science that is being taught in English, they translate it to their local languages. Nobody should think that breaking down science in our local languages is difficult. It is not, we only need the political will so that people can understand what is going on and take advantage of knowledge. That is why people like us, who survived and still living productive life, need to put our faces on breast cancer so that people can know that they can survive it. It is not a death sentence. I don’t think anyone should die of breast cancer again.

When did the idea of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria start?

It started barely six months after I was discharged from the hospital. When we started, nobody wanted to be part of BRECAN because after getting to UCH and discovering that some women were also getting treatment for various stages of the disease, I was disturbed. I discussed with my consultant that I wouldn’t keep quiet about the disease. I never knew that people could go to the hospital, get treatment and keep quiet about what they were experiencing. I wouldn’t do that and that was how the idea to start an NGO came up.

How has it been since you started?

The idea came that other women too can benefit; that they don’t have to wait and that if they wait, it would be bad for them, was like a mission. I couldn’t recruit anyone among the women with me in that ward, not even one. I reached out to my friends. They are healthy women, nothing is wrong with them, but they felt they should identify with a friend. They joined BRECAN because they wanted to save the world and to support a friend because they saw the passion in me. It sparkled something in me. I didn’t know I had the capacity. I heard people said because they heard me speak on television and on radio; they mustered the courage to go to the hospital. Now, we have eight BRECAN chapters across the nation. The mother chapter is in Oyo State. When my friends followed me, gradually we began awareness.

What are the challenges facing the project?

The major challenge is money. We wrote letters to banks and companies but there was no response. Even the focus on the international community then was on malaria and AIDS. It is only now that cancer is gaining attention because we are persistent. Sometimes, we use strong words against government. We were 20 years last month.

We have doctors who we are partnering with in the UCH, OAU, LUTH, Abuja and FMC, Owo. We have radiotherapy machines in this country but they aren’t working. Sometimes, if one is working in Ibadan, the entire cancer patients in Nigeria will go there and this is part of cancer treatment protocol that every patient must undergo. Look at India; they are raking in foreign currencies from Nigerians because we fail to put our house in order. Policymakers fail to give attention to cancer, forgetting that it is one of the diseases one meets along the way as one ages and many Nigerians are aging. Any government that neglects cancer cares little about its citizens. To add salt to the injury, cancer is not covered under the National Health Insurance Scheme; I can’t believe it. We are going to lobby for the policy to be reviewed. Is there any day we don’t hear of people dying of cancer? Our people are dying like flies, especially women. Treating cancer is very expensive.

What contribution is your husband, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, making towards the project?

I don’t need to lobby my husband again; he is an indirect survivor. He has to do whatever is within his power to make sure we have a cancer treatment centre. That will, at least, take off the load on the Federal Government. It is overwhelming. The Federal Government can’t do it alone; states should have their comprehensive cancer treatment centres. We can then reach out and partner the primary health care centres so that every woman can visit the nearest health centre for test and examination. Not all doctors can treat breast cancer because it is a specialised area of medicine. The experts can mostly be found in teaching hospitals and Federal Medical Centres. Even in some state hospitals, there are no experts on cancer.

Romance‘no Law In Nigeria Stops Me From Having Romantic Affair With Policewomen’- IGP by Kayus4real(op): 6:30am On Nov 12, 2017
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, has
responded to accusations that he has had affairs with two
junior female officers who also got questionable
promotions as a result by saying there is no law in Nigeria
that prevents him from marrying a serving female police
officer.
You recall the lawmaker representing Bauchi Central
Senatorial District, Senator Isa Misau, accused Mr. Ibrahim
Idris of sleeping with 2 serving police officers and allegedly
impregnated one.
Idris stated his reply in a written defence he presented
through his lawyer, Dr. Alex Iziyon (SAN), to the Senate ad-
hoc committee investigating the allegations against him by
the senator.
SUNDAY PUNCH reports they obtained a copy of the written
defence, in which the allegations against the IG were listed
in six categories and responded to. Their report below:
On the allegation that Idris was having affairs
with two female officers who also got
questionable promotions as a result, Idris
specifically asked Senator Misau to cite a
section of the law that prevents him from
having romantic relationship with a
policewoman.
The police boss recalled that Misau’s father
married the lawmaker’s mother while in service.
Iziyon said:
“This allegation is laughable and showed lack of
understanding of the provisions of the Police
Act and regulation.”
“Until he brings such section of the Police Act
(that forbids a police officer from marrying
another police officer), it will amount to
discussing the Inspector-General of Police’s
private life, which ordinarily should not have
been entertained on the floor of the Senate.
“It might be appropriate to remind the senator,
whose mother retired from the police as an
Inspector of Police and a father who retired
from the police as an Assistant Inspector-
General of Police, that the Inspector-General of
Police is a Moslem and, according to Islamic
Law, can marry four wives provided he can love
them equally.
“The senator also alleged that the Inspector-
General of Police is in a relationship with one
Corporal Amina whom he claimed was promoted
from the rank of Corporal to an Assistant
Superintendent of Police within 12 months.
“This allegation is false and the senator is under
obligation to give the full particulars of the
female police (officer), where she is serving and
her duty post. It is not possible to promote a
corporal to the rank of an ASP except the
officer has attended an in-service cadet
course.”
The IG, who earlier declined the committee’s invitation due
to pending court cases over the matter, appeared before the
Senate panel on Wednesday, accompanied by Iziyon; and the
Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly
Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang.

HealthInduction Of Labour, All You Need To Know. by Kayus4real(op): 10:50am On Oct 10, 2017
About 10% of pregnancies need to be induced in order to expedite vaginal delivery. This happens when the benefits of delivering the baby outweighs the risks of continuing the pregnancy or awaiting spontaneous labour. *What are the indications for induction of labour? -Placental insufficiency : when the placenta is diseased and no longer capable of supporting the foetus -Prolonged pregnancy : beyond 41 weeks of gestation -Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) : when the foetus fails to gain weight, or loses weight due to constitutional, maternal or placental disease - Premature rupture of membranes : when the "bag of water" breaks without any sign of labour after 24 hours (to avoid infection to the baby) - Intrauterine fetal death - to prevent the risk of toxicity or infection to the mother - Intrauterine infection (Chorioamnionitis) - Unexplained antepartum hemorrhage - Potential or presumed fetal macrosomia : increasing growth beyond 4kg, especially in diabetic mothers - Medical diseases in the mother : such as severe hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes, cardiac or renal diseases, cancers, etc. *What are the methods for inducing labour? Before induction of labour, it is important to assess the cervix to determine its "ripeness", ie. to predict whether induction is likely to succeed or fail. Predictors of a successful induction includes advanced gestational age (above 37weeks) and multiparity (having delivered by vagina in the past). The cervix can be ripened through medical and non-medical methods. There is limited evidence to support the efficacy of non-medical methods (eg. Sexual intercourse, nipple stimulation, herbal mixtures, dates, castor oil, etc.) The medical methods of ripening are : 1. Mechanical methods - this includes using the finger to "stretch and sweep" the cervix and/or insertion of a catheter into the cervical canal. 2. Pharmacological methods - use of chemical agents (prostaglandins and oxytocin) ********** Certain parameters are used by the midwives/physicians to "score" the ripeness of the cervix. After satisfactory ripening, induction of labour proper begins. This can be done in one of two ways - ~Artificial rupture of membranes - Deliberately breaking the "bag of water", which stimulates the process of active labour through the release of prostaglandins. ~Induction/Augmentation of labour using oxytocin infusion - Oxytocin is released normally by the brain at the time of labour. This process can be augmented by infusion of controlled amount of oxytocin (Syntocinon®) through dedicated intravenous infusion pumps. *Note that induction of labour MUST be done in a hospital where adequate feto-maternal monitoring and standard obstetric care are available. This will ensure that any complication in the course of induction can be identified promptly and treated appropriately. It is also better to have standby facilities for Caeserean section in case of complications during, or failure of induction of labour. Wishing all expectant mothers safe delivery!

If the shooter was a Muslim, we'd call this a terrorist attack. This was a terrorist attack, committed by a 64-year-old white American.
Trump must take measures to secure the US from within, focusing less on US outside threats and more on internal threats. This event that took place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas is an event that shouldn't happen. It's an event that should be recognized by Trump as a "Terrorist Attack", not just a Mass Shooting! The gunman Stephen Paddock was a TERRORIST, period!. It is indefensible.
Well it's not really about that now, it's about the innocent people
that have lost their lives. All terrorists have a mental illness! Doesn't
matter what the motivation is! Terrorism is sick and evil and we must condemn it all.
Terrorism is terrorism!
Celebrities'I Rejected $500,000 From Donald Trump To Help Appeal To Black Voters- 50 Cent by Kayus4real(op): 10:48am On Sep 29, 2017
American rapper, 50 Cent claims that he rejected an offer of
$500,000 from Donald Trump's team to appear at a campaign
event during the 2016 presidential election.

In a recent interview with the radio station Hot 97, the rapper
said, 'before he got elected, they were having issues with the
African American vote. They wanted to pay me $500,000 as part
of the campaign to just make an appearance'.

He went on to explain why he rejected the alleged proposal: 'I
was like, 'Nah, that’s not good money. Nah, I’m not going to do
that. That’s not worth it. His presidency is an accident. If you
were a president by accident, you might do some of the things
Donald Trump is doing'.

IslamWorking As A Lawyer In The Islamic Judicial System. by Kayus4real(op): 6:39am On Sep 29, 2017
Praise be to Allaah.
The position of a lawyer in the Islamic judicial system is that
he is the deputy or agent of the one of the two parties who
has appointed him to represent him, either the plaintiff or the
defendant. The one who appointed him should be moderate
in seeking his rights and be fair with his opponent. If both
parties adhere to that it will be better for both of them, and
that will help the judge to make a decision in cases of
dispute. If the disputant or his deputy insist on deceiving and
going to extremes in their arguments in order to make gains
even if they are haraam, then they are sinning and consuming
people’s wealth unlawfully, and they are causing confusion to
the judge, unless Allaah guides the judge by His grace and
mercy and help them to make the right decision, so that the dispute may be resolved fairly.
And Allaah is the Source of strength. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his
family and companions.

Christianity EtcSUKUK: ‘christianise’ Nigeria Too, Falana Tells CAN by Kayus4real(op): 3:57pm On Sep 28, 2017
A Lagos-based lawyer, Femi Falana, on Thursday called on the Christian Association ofNigeria, CAN, to “Christianise” Nigeria.
Mr. Falana spoke at the strategic dialog roundtable organised by the Social EconomicRights and Accountability, SERAP, held in
Lagos.

The lawyer was reacting to the controversy the N100 billion Sukuk bond offered by the Nigerian government.
CAN had in reaction to the offer said the move was an attempt to islamise Nigeria. But Mr. Falana, on Thursday, said the Sukuk
bond was a legitimate means through which government could generate funds, as practiced in many countries of the world.
He called on religious leaders not to set Nigerians against themselves based on religion.“I am challenging CAN to Christianise Nigerians; christianise us by setting up interest-free
banks…” he said.

He said religious leaders must be careful in their handling of issues, stressing that suspected kidnapper, Evans, had clerics who
worked for him.

HealthLagos Commissions ‘first State- Owned DNA Forensic Centre In West Africa’ by Kayus4real(op): 9:22am On Sep 28, 2017
agos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on
Wednesday commissioned what he described
as the first state-owned DNA Forensic Centre in
West Africa, saying the move would go a long
way in resolving all forms of crimes, paternity
issues and others issues through technology
which is the modern trend across the world.
Governor Ambode said the completion and
handing over of the centre, located at Odunlami
Street in Lagos Island, was a significant
milestone and a symbolic manifestation of his
administration’s policies in reforming the justice
sector and in line with his vision to make the
State safe for residents and investors.
He said the state government, with the
completion of the centre, is joining other
advanced countries of the world which had
embraced technology to make life easier for
people in all spheres of existence.
Mr. Ambode said, “From the domestic front to
our places of work; from the way we learn, to
doing business, the use of technology has
become a way of life. You will therefore
understand why our administration had no
hesitation in approving this project which serves
amongst other things, as an effective method of
bringing perpetrators of crime to book and
ensuring quick dispensation of justice.”
The governor recalled that from inception, his
administration realised that security was key to
good governance and sustainability of
investment to make life better for the people.
He said that necessitated the heavy investment
in security equipment, recruitment and training
of security personnel to assist law enforcement
agencies in the maintenance of public peace
and security.
The interventions, Governor Ambode said, had
translated into tremendous success by the
reduction in crimes in the state, adding that the
DNA Centre underlined the state government’s
resolve to stay ahead of criminals through
scientific-led investigations.
Giving details of the DNA Centre, the governor
said the facility has capacity to provide the
police, prosecutors, defence attorneys and
private citizens with crime scene processing;
serological screening for blood and semen; DNA
analysis of bone, teeth and hair; maternal and
paternal relationship DNA analysis; expert
witness and case handling services; paternal
and maternal ancestry DNA analysis; cold case
file review and mass disaster human
identification.

Before now, most, if not all DNA analyses and testings were
performed outside Nigeria, a situation that caused longer turn-
around times and an overall higher cost of bringing closure to a
case.
“I am therefore convinced that the establishment of the Lagos
DNA & Forensic Centre will improve the speed and quality of
evidence collected to assist our Courts in the quick dispensation
of justice. This centre is a definite boost for our administration’s
Justice Sector reform programme. It shows that our covenant
with Lagosians to create a safe and secure State is being kept,”
Governor Ambode said.
In his welcome address, the State’s Attorney General and
Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem, said the centre would
assist the state to have a reliable DNA database that would
enable investigators and law enforcement officers identify crime
patterns and suspects, and also help exonerate or convict
suspects.
On his part, the Consul General of United States Embassy in
Lagos, John Bray, congratulated Governor Ambode and the
people of the State for successfully completing the building of
“the first DNA Forensic Centre not only in Nigeria but in West
Africa,” saying the development would enhance justice and
progress.

Mr. Bray, who had worked as a law enforcement officer in United
States for 25 years before being posted to Lagos, said the State
Government deserved commendation for the foresight and vision
to undertake such project as the DNA Forensic centre, adding that
there was no question about the fact that the facility is of world
class standard.
On his part, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi
Olonishakin, represented by Rear Admiral Lawal Modu Adams,
said the centre was a significant milestone in the country’s fight
against all forms of crime, including terrorism.
Also, Lagos State Acting Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal,
said the completion of the centre was another first by the Lagos
State Government and one of the greatest moves by any state
government towards boosting security and justice delivery.

PoliticsAgain, Dasuki’s Corruption Trial Adjourned by Kayus4real(op): 9:11am On Sep 28, 2017
The trail of former National Security Adviser,
Sambo Dasuki, has been adjourned till
September 28 by a High Court of the Federal
Capital Territory, Abuja.
Mr. Dasuki’s trial had earlier been scheduled to
hold on September 27, after it was adjourned in
June, following inability of security operatives to
produce Mr. Dasuki in court.
The trial has suffered major setbacks owing
largely to the absence of the former NSA in
court.
The former security chief has been in the
custody of the State Security Service, SSS, for
about two years.
Mr. Dasuki is facing trial with five other
defendants, including two firms on a 19-count
charge for alleged diversion of N13.6 billion.
He was not produced in court on Wednesday.
Explaining the reason for the rescheduling of the
matter, a court clerk told PREMIUM TIMES that
the case had been adjourned till Thursday
because Mr. Dasuki was absent and some of the
defendant’s counsel present in court had new
motions to file.
The counsel to the defence, Ahmed Raji, later
told PREMIUM TIMES that the new applications
by the defence team was to allow for a
separation of the trials of the defendants.
“The motion is for separation of the trails of the
accused persons,” Mr. Raji said in a text
message to PREMIUM TIMES.
The other defendants are Shuaibu Sanusi,
former director of Finance at the Office of the
NSA; Aminu Baba-Kusa, former executive
director of the Nigerian National Petroleum
Company; Bashir Yuguda, former minister of
state for finance; Acacia Holdings Limited, and
Reliance Reference Hospital.

Romance'let Cancer Eat You Up'– Woman Lays Curses On Her Hubby's Side Chick In Abuja by Kayus4real(op): 9:00am On Sep 28, 2017
Abuja based Nigerian lady, Azubike Chinenye took to Facebook to
narrate how she woke up in the middle of the night to find her
neighbour naked and laying curses on her husband and his side
chick,
According to the woman, the side chick has made her husband
her money machine with the help of an Abuja pastor. She then
cursed her saying cancer should eat her up, and also cursed her
husband saying his manhood will never function again.
Read below…

“Last night, my son sleep walked into my room and
laid next to me. I am not a deep sleeper so I noticed
a presence. I stood up to switch off the fan and
allow the natural air so he doesn’t get cold.
About to lay down and I heard a voice crying and
saying, “unless my hands are not clean” I bent down
and peeped through the window where I heard the
voice from and saw a woman who I guess is my
next compound neighbour. She was naked standing
with a pot or calabash or something. I wanted to
take pictures but for the first time, I had to fear my
life.
She said and I quote, ” Shantel Mukoro, you have
decided not to allow me enjoy my marriage, you
have made my husband your money machine. You

Days after Psquare Paul Okoye took to Instagram to blast an unidentified person , he has revealed that his one time planned Psquare United States/Canada tour with twin brother Peter Okoye is never going to happen again.
This conversation just happened between Paul & a fan on Instagram:
Fan asked:
I was highly waiting for the Psquare tour of America/Canada this summer which they promised us in August/September, but till now no update about that…
Please I ask is it still going to happen @rudeboypsquare @peterpsquare @judeengees
And Paul replied;
Sorry bro, is not happening

Twin brothers Paul and Peter Okoye have been throwing shades seemingly at each other because no names have been mentioned ever since Paul welcomed his set of twins.
Just days ago, Paul Okoye shared a post on Instagram that threatened to expose an unidentified person if his silence is taken for granted. His caption for the viral photo read:
‘Back to naija. Don’t take my silence for granted. Only a woman can come where there’s peace and destroy it #youknowyourself. Try me this time, I swear Nyash go open. You will know that blood is thicker and stronger than juju’.
On the other hand, Peter started promoting his solo Mr P brand all over again. He too shared cryptic messages on his social media pages.

RomanceI Am In Love With A Girl That Just Finished Secondary School by Kayus4real(op): 5:14pm On Sep 09, 2017
I met this girl through my friend recently. She's my friend's cousin. She's calm, cool and beautiful. She finished her secondary school education this year and she's awaiting her admission in to the university. I told my friend that I like her. My friend without informing me told her mum about my interest in her. The mum was glad about the news. She however called and asked me if I really like her as I claim. I replied yes I do. Her mum however gave me the go ahead to ask her out. Now the problem is that... I am in my final year in the medical school. And I'll be considering marriage as soon as I am done. I'm thinking I could meet another girl later who probably would be done with her studies and marry. I love this girl so much that I don't want to lose her in the end. Should I tell the girl about my love her or not? I need your advice nairalanders...

CelebritiesToke Makinwa Reminisces On Her UNILAG Days, As She Ends Her Book Tour by Kayus4real(op): 8:44am On Jul 25, 2017
Media personality, Toke Makinwa has ended her book tour yesterday at her alma mater, UNILAG. According to her, she decided to end it there because it reminds her of the times in the institution when she gave up hope of an education after the school asked her to leave because of her poor grades.

She wrote;

“I haven’t always made the right choices but I am thankful for grace. I’m no where near perfect, I struggle sometimes but I’m learning to lean on the grace of God to catch me when I fall. Its quite emotional for me to end my book tour at the University of Lagos cos I remember my time there, I wasn’t the brightest student, I had potential but I was a troubled young girl, I didn’t care much for my books till one day I was advised to withdraw, and I hit rock bottom. I had no where else to go, my grades were bad, so bad the school asked me to leave. Something happened (grace), there was a meeting with all department heads I was granted mercy on humanitarian grounds. My lecturers knew I had it in me but I couldn’t see what they saw, they decided to give me an extra year to turn it around. It was humiliating, I started not quite at the bottom but it was a struggle. My mates had graduated and I was in a new class and boy it was hard but I did it. I don’t know how but I made a 2:2. Instead of 4 years I spent 5/6 but I made it out. It is important for me to go back and meet with the students in Unilag, the ones doing great and the students that are struggling too. Sometimes it takes sharing your story to inspire someone to believe in themselves and I’m always up for it. Dates will be revealed soon, #onbecomingmediatour #OnBecominginUnilag #TMisComingHome #rockbottomtorockstar #Godschild”

PoliticsNigeria Plans Establishment Of Council To Regulate Social Media Use In Country by Kayus4real(op): 10:45am On Jul 24, 2017
The National Council on Information (NCI) has recommended the “setting up of a Council to regulate the use of social media in Nigeria”.
The recommendation is contained in a communique issued at the end of Extraordinary Meeting of NCI on Hate Speeches, Fake News and National Unity held on Friday in Jos.
In the communique made available to journalists on Sunday, the Council recommended the use of stringent measures in checking conventional media and their programmes.
The Council, presided over by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, noted that Social media has no address as such vetting and editing posting in social media might be difficult.
The Council recommended that Information managers at the state level should open a website to counter report of any misinformation posted by the social media as quickly as the hate speeches, misinformation and fake news are posted.
It recommended immediate killing of whatever postings on social media assumed or presumed to be hate speeches or fake news or misinformation by the information managers in various states.
The Council noted that social media might take over the 2019 elections because Nigerians had come to rely more and believe the social media over the conventional media.
It directed the Federal and State Ministries of Information to use jingles to promote peace and come up with cartoons on the TV and Newspapers telling the dangers of fake news and hate speeches
“The collaboration must start with National Orientation Agency and the state governments,” the Council recommended.
The Council underscored the need to start talking to those responsible for law and enforcement of justice to address the issues of citizens taking laws into their hands.
The body also emphasised that “the welfare of the people is paramount, people well fed will listen to their government”.
NAN reports that the extraordinary meeting of the council was declared open by Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau, represented by his Deputy Prof. Sonni Tyoden.
Mr. Lalong observed that the combination of hate speech, conducts, commentaries, writing and displays that combined with the engagement of Hate Media Platforms had in global history proven their ability to incite genocide.
He emphasised that any person or group of persons using any media outlet to bait and explore the innocence and gullibility of a few people must be condemned and sanctioned as criminal, by all people of conscience
NAN also reports that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a keynote address, expressed displeasure over the hate spewed on radio stations across the country which according to him has become alarming.
The Minister said the careless incitement to violence and the level of insensitivity to the multi-religious, multi-ethnic nature of the country must not be allowed to continue because it is detrimental to the unity and well-being of our country.
The National Council on Information is the highest policy making body for information articulation and delivery in the country.
Delegates to the Council included Heads of Parastatal Agencies in the Federal Ministry of Information and Commissioners for Information in the 36 States.

CrimeNigerian Army Orders Troops To Capture, Abubakar Shekau, Within 40 Days by Kayus4real(op): 9:47am On Jul 22, 2017
The Nigerian Army has given its troops an ultimatum to capture Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, handed down the order on Friday to the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Ibrahim Attahiru, according to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the army, Sani Usman.
Mr. Buratai, a lieutenant general, said the Boko Haram leader must be captured dead or alive within 40 days, the statement said, adding that Mr. Attahiru, a major general, was directed to employ every weapon available in his arsenal “to smoke out Shekau wherever he is hiding in Nigeria”.
“The general public is pleased requested to also assist and volunteer information that would lead to the accomplishment of this task,” the army spokesperson said in the statement.
The military had several times in the past claimed it had killed Mr. Shekau, only for the Boko Haram leader to later show up in videos mocking either the military or the nation’s top officials.
On August 23, 2016, Mr. Sani himself had issued a statement announcing that Mr. Shekau was inflicted with “fatal injury” in a major air strike on Boko Haram’s location in the dreaded Sambisa Forest.
Mr. Sani, a colonel, said at the time that the bombardment was carried out while Mr. Shekau was leading his group in performing the Friday prayers at a secret location called Tayye in the heart of the vast forest.
The military had by that time too repeatedly claimed credit for killing Mr. Shekau. But the sect denounced the claims each time saying its leader remained alive.
The military however insisted that the original Abubakar Shekau had long been killed, and that the so-called Abubakar Shekau said to be alive was a made-up character.
On March 28 this year, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, had a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, after which he reassured Nigerians that the army would soon apprehend Mr. Shekau.
“If you have had the opportunity to go to Sambisa (forest in Borno), you will know that Boko Haram has been defeated, go and see what is happening in Sambisa.

“We have dominated the whole stronghold where they used to be, there is where we call ‘camp zairo’ where their spiritual and their strong headquarters that they were using as communication base was destroyed and as at the same time occupied by our men of the armed forces.
“So, I believe it’s just a matter of time, it took America about seven to 10 years to get Bin Laden so we will get Shekau as soon as possible.
“I told you before now, the spiritual headquarters has been ransacked and vandalized. He (Shekau) is on the run, so he may be hiding in one of the enclaves of Sambisa forest that we are dominating.
“We have opened up the place; we are using it as a training area whereby the army engineers will open roads. We shall be patrolling and be ransacking that forest for the whereabouts of Shekau,’’ he said.

CelebritiesEvery Single Mother Made A Wrong Choice – Actress Lola Alao by Kayus4real(op): 8:34am On Jul 01, 2017
In a recent interview with Vanguardngr, Nollywood actress and single mother, Lola Alao, who was asked why there are many single mothers in the Yoruba sector of the industry, said:
“I think it has to do with making the wrong choices. I will say they haven’t gotten to their final destination that is why they are single mothers. I think every single mother you see made a wrong choice.”
Does that apply to you too?
Yes, I think every single mother you see made a wrong choice.
What is your relationship with the father of your child?
I will keep saying that the father of my daughter is the best. He is kindhearted and he is a very good person. Forget whatever he might have said about me out of annoyance, we have a very good relationship.
Do you have plans of going back to him?
If God says so, why not! Is there any man in the picture right now? No, there is none.
What are the prices you have paid for stardom?
I have paid a lot; stardom has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages includes preferential treatments wherever you go and the disadvantages have to do with being harassed by area boys, any time you are in the public.

What is your relationship with Bisi Ibidapo Obe at the moment?
I don’t have any problem with Bisi Ibidapo Obe, when I buried my father she was there to support me. She is like a younger sister to me, we don’t have a problem. With your popularity you don’t seem to have any endorsement, why? I have endorsements; I have with a network called Voda Phone which is not out yet. I also have with Funky Diva Hairs and Yoyo Bitters. I don’t like to make noise about these things. At a time it was gathered that you worked as a dish washer in America? I washed plates in London but that was in one of my movies ‘Iberu Alako’. In the movie I also worked in a supermarket. The movie is about a lady who was living comfortably in Nigeria but was deceived by the lavish lifestyle of her friend who lives in London. She thought it was easy to make money abroad, she eventually travelled to London and was stranded, and then she had to work in a restaurant to survive.
