Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has again raised the alarm that the flag bearer of All Progressive Congress (APC), John Kayode Fayemi has hired four top officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the headquarters in Abuja, to manipulate the July 14 poll to favour the APC.

He also alleged that the Federal Government had been delaying allocations to states in the federation because of the July 14 poll in Ekiti, with a view to insigating workers in the state against his government.

Speaking categorically on a live state Radio and Television broadcast in Ado Ekiti, state capital, on Sarurday night, the governor gave the names of the four INEC officials as Pasca Ukenwa, Deputy Director, ICT, Abdulrasak Agboola, also Deputy Director, ICT, Kenneth Ukeagu, Procurement Officer, and INEC Commissioner, Amina Zakari.

He said, “I am still raising the alarm again of the plan of three Abuja senior officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); Pasca Ukenwa, Deputy Director, ICT, Abdulrasak Agboola, also Deputy Director, ICT, and Kenneth Ukeagu, Procurement Officer of INEC, they are working with Fayemi in a desperate plan to rig the July 14 governorship poll in Ekiti. Ukaegu is planning to get ballot papers for Fayemi while the ICT directors are planning to reload card readers for Fayemi.

“Ukeagu is assuring Fayemi that if he can reload the card readers, he would get the ballot papers for them. The three INEC officers are all working with Amina Zakari, another big shot of INEC in Abuja. Zakari was the one Anambra rejected with a claim that she would rig the last Anambra election in the state. Zakari is a professional rigger and I have no apology for that statement.

“All the APC plans to do is to rig the election but we will reject that. They got into power at the federal level because the process was transparent. I have told INEC not to rig for me because the people of Ekiti are solidly behind our candidate.

“We know all about the plans of APC and all the movements of everyone working with him to manipulate the electoral process. Part of their plan to stuff their pockets with ballot papers when coming to vote. I urge Ekiti people, don’t go away once you have voted, stay with your votes. They have also brought thugs in all the hotels, but we know where they are and they can’t do anything.”

“The Federal Government has refused to share the allocation. They decided to delay so that workers in Ekiti would be angry with Fayose. They held a meeting last week Saturday and decided to delay the allocation so that workers won’t get salaries until after July 14 poll. They are owing me two budget support.

“They delayed the salaries of the workers across the nation because of Ekiti. Is that a government that loves the masses?” The governor also took a critical swipe at Fayemi, alleging that the state has not benefited anything from the ex-minister’s appointment into the federal government cabinet.

“If Fayemi were to be governor he wouldn’t have been able to fight against Fulani herdsmen in Ekiti the way I had done because he would be afraid of Buhari.

“Tinubu said Fayemi is Buhari’s friend but is Bubari coming to rule Ekiti? A Buhari’s friend cannot tackle herdsmen menace because Buhari’s himself has failed to deal with the challenge at the national level.

“For Fayemi to have condemned the success of our students in NECO exams is bad. He said that our children who came tops in exams had had their exam answers bought for them is appalling and an height of reckless statement.

“Fayemi is coming with bitterness to come and devour and destroy all of you. I know what I am saying. I have served you before and I am still serving you and you can know the difference,” he said.

Speaking further about the July 14 poll, he said: “The power of the people is greater than those of us in power, peoples’ might is greater than federal might. Anything that does not represent the truth in this poll will fail.

“The opposition are fighting God and they will fail. We will beat APC 16 :0 again. There will be a mother of all rallies on Thursday, July, 5 where the PDP flag will be given to our candidate, Olusola Kolapo Eleka. There will also be victory walk where all of us will wear white, and walk through the state capital praising God and thanking him for victory over our enemies.”

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Bello Ahmed, said on Thursday that at least 30,000 policemen would be deployed for the July 14 governorship election in the state.

Ahmed disclosed this while hosting some journalists at the Command’s headquarters in Ado-Ekiti.

He said the Command had mapped out strategies to ensure hitch- free election, saying with effective from July 9, policemen would be deployed to strategic locations in the state.

The police commissioner advised residents in the state to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner before, during and after the election.





He also assured people of the state of safety of their lives and property.

He said: “Robust security has been put in place come July 14. Not less than 30,000 policemen would be deployed and other logistics would be on ground. Our tactical teams are ready for the task ahead.

“Effective from July 9, everything would take shape and everybody would be in their positions. All the threats analysis had been conducted. We are fully ready for the poll and if the election is today, it just for us to press one or two buttons.

“I want to encourage the people of Ekiti to be law abiding, to give us timely and credible information. I equally advise them to come out on election day to exercise their civil rights and responsibility to vote for candidate of their choice peacefully and retire back to their houses peacefully.”

All Progressives Congress (APC) Peace and Reconciliation Committee has been set up for South-East and Imo State respectively and the essence is to ensure that peace is returned in the Party within the South-East zone and in Imo in particular.

The South-East APC Peace and Reconciliation Committee is headed by Senator Emmanuel Agboti from Ebonyi State, while the Imo State APC Peace and Reconciliation Committee is headed by Prince Macdonald Akano, with the Committees expected to ensure that warring factions within the APC in the South-East are brought together while the Imo Committee would also work to achieve the same aim.

Imo State Governor and Chairman Progressive Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha disclosed the setting up of these Peace and Reconciliation Committees for APC when thousands of APC supporters stormed the Government House Owerri on Wednesday June 27, 2018 to congratulate the governor for a successful outing at the National Convention of the Party in Abuja, stating that respected elders of the Party are members of the Committees.

The governor also told his audience that there would be a Mega Victory Rally in Owerri on July 3, 2018 by APC members in the South-East and the rally would be tagged, South-East For Buhari, and would also be aimed at re-directing the mindset of Ndi-Igbo in the Current Political dispensation to join the national ideology.

He said “this very rally will have so many governors in attendance with Secretary to the Government of the Federation as a representative of the President. The idea is to promote the ideals of what President Buhari stands for, and to also ensure that Igbos are not left out again, and to rebuild all broken bridges with both the North and Western part of this Country and position Ndi-Igbo better”.

The governor continued “I want to equally ensure that the new party leadership will look into the aborted Congresses in the State and I can assure you that there will be fresh Congresses as soon as possible. That will now stabilize our Party and get them ready for elections. And I want to thank Imolites who have remained calm in the face of provocations and insults. The Victory is for all of us”.

According to the governor “the Local Government elections will still go on as scheduled and I hope everyone will participate and the exercise will be free and fair. The issue of the Coalition has come to an end. The people had spoken and God has heard them. We are back from the National Convention of our Party with Victory”.

For him, “What is important now is that we must make all efforts to make the Party move forward both in the South-East and in Imo in particular. This is not the time to count who is your Political enemy or not. The Party will no longer condone any act of indiscipline, stealing of result sheets and carrying of ballot boxes. APC is not known for that”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has endorsed two-term governor and two-term Senator, Ahmed Makarfi, for president in 2019.

At a brief stakeholders’ meeting with Makarfi, Chairman Hassan Hyet said there would be a change in the country in 2019 because PDP will reclaim power.

Hyet said: “On that day, we will not be the one to escort others to the seat of power, but others will be the one to escort Makarfi to Aso Rock as the elected President by the grace of God.”

He urged party members to work towards achieving Makarfi’s presidential ambition because he has stood his ground to ensure the party’s unity.

“Today, PDP is a household name in Nigeria because of Makarfi’s sacrifice in ensuring that the party remains one united family,” he said.

Makarfi said after consulting the party at national level about his political ambition, he decided to come home to Kaduna to intimate his supporters at the state level.

He promised that if elected, he would stop killings and kidnappings across the country.

Makarfi reiterated that Nigerians will be better off during his presidency because of his wealth of experience in governance.

He said: “I have consulted the party and I thought it wise to come and meet my own base and the stakeholders to affirm to them though a formal declaration has not taken place.

“But, like I had earlier said, if nominated by the party and elected by Nigerians, my priorities would be insecurity and ending the killings in the country. Addressing national unity and promotion of what binds us together, addressing the issue of unemployment and creation, as well as redistribution of wealth.

“This is home coming, so I am here so that you and I can take on the task beyond the shores of Kaduna State.”
