Agriculture / Re: I Need Full Fat Soya by Kdamilola(m): 4:11pm On Feb 07
soccerlite:

Please what's the diff between full fat soya, soya oil and soya meal

Soyameal otherwise called soybean meal or SBM is a processed soybean that has been defatted. It's oil has been removed. It has about 42% protein and about 2500 kcal/kg of metabolizable energy. It's the most commonly used protein source in poultry nutrition.

Full fat soya usually contains higher oil content, so it's higher in energy and slightly lower in protein (about 38%) compared to SBM. They are principally of two types; roasted/toasted and extruded.

Soya oil as the name implies, is an oil extracted from soybean.

You can go through the document in the link below for nutrient composition of some feed ingredients in Nigeria.

YourMajesty:
This is what LASU and other state and federal Universities ought to be researching and working on instead of Launching Bread.

Bread is easier to launch!

Will they research space technology with an overall 470 billion Naira (1 billion USD) Tertiary education budget? We are always quick to disparage the Nigerian education sector, forgetting that the funding is abysmally poor.
For the tertiary education sector to attract massive grants for ground-breaking research, the government first have to provide part of the technology that will allow such research.
Nigerian researchers are making waves abroad. They are sometimes sent to study in state-of-the-art Universities, to acquire more knowledge, but on return, they become frustrated, mostly due to lack of equipments/technology to replicate what they learnt. Since they can't use the learnt "advanced" methodology and technology to improve their research, they return to default and maintain status quo.

Hopefully, the next president will deem it fit to improve on this.

Good riddance! Is this how commercial motor bikes have invaded American highways where Google that owns the so called OPay is from??

Whoever must operate motor bike business has to comply with the laws of the land...there are specified routes that Motor bikes are allowed to ply in the state, period!

It escalated to this because the government have failed us. Who will want to take bike on an expressway when the roads are good with nice and affordable taxis? Opay has been the best thing that can happen to Lagos transport-wise! I don't dwell in Lagos, but when the last time I went over, I don't think I would have been able to make it in time to my destination, if not for their service, and so does all other persons.
So, let's try and not stifle entrepreneurship. They should have at least contacted the management if they are not complying with any of the laid regulations like UK did with Uber before imposing any form of sanction.

P.S.: Opay is not owned by Google, it's owned by Opera.

if federal universities are commercialized like all the private universities, how many people in Nigeria could afford #1million naira tuition fee per session? In some of the federal universities, they pay as low as #75,000 per session and people still complain they can't afford it!

What?! 75k for where? Most Federal Universities pay below 30k, except for 100 levels that are newly admitted that pay slightly higher.

I hope you are not really in the university system!
It isn't a rocket science to compare university revenue with their expenditure.
It doesn't require emotions or lashing out to do just pure numbers.

What exactly does "millions" or "a lot of money" mean?

I would have taken you seriously if you called for total privatization of the universities
so that the government can be free of all obligations.

Public universities are like public hospitals, they were not primarily designed for profit.

You are very correct! Why would you expect schools to become money making machines! It's not done! @Arsenal007 is really arguing where there's no argument!!

If you say NNPC generates money for the FG, yeah, true, if you say NPA generates money for the FG yeah, true, but the CBN's core mandate doesn't include generating money for the FG rather it manages the FG's funds and the economy. How can it remit money to itself?

NDIC is Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation and it's mandate doesnt include making money for the FG.

Of course there are services these agencies provide through which IGR comes in, some of which are remitted to government and the other percentage utilised by these agencies as required. But they do not necessarily make money for the government.

Equating these agencies to the university somehow answers ASUU questions about IPPIS. Universities have internally generated revenues atimes worth billions, some of which are remitted to the government but they are not listed as money making agencies for government. So if the CBN, NDIC are allegedly exempted from IPPIS, why not universities?

Wow. So explicit!
And now that all Federal parastatals run on TSA, even for the universities to access the IGR, they still need to consult the government, so, why the fuss?!

Well, let's just see if government will be able to answer those trifling questions!

You are not in the university system so you don't know what you are saying. The universities generate alot of money, I mean millions.. They don't remit nothing to the government, yet the government pays salaries, provides tetfund for research, infrastructure, also research grants that's is not accounted for, etc.. What happens to the school fees, the acceptance fees, the other IGRs? Most universities don't even pay the allowances the are supposed to pay their workers, cut their salaries..

Yes, they generate money! But how do you think they pay for the maintenance of the university? How do you think those buildings with no TETFUND written on them come into fray? How do you think they handle the miscellaneous daily dealings? You may know a lot about universities, but I doubt if you fully know how it runs!

Corruption is everywhere, universities inclusive! But I can say its level in the universities is very low compared to that of the other parastatals, and this cannot be corrected with IPPIS. Please do well to read the Autonomy act of 2007, communiques released by ASUU and as well go through a long page write up by the JAMB registrar, you'll have a better grasp of the situation, I believe.

Shalom.

Crime / Scam Alert!!! by Kdamilola(m): 4:12pm On Dec 19, 2017
Good day everyone,

Gone are those days of phishing (read more on this pls), when black hat hackers send some malicious files to your email and ask you to click on it in order to have access to your e-mail account. The new tactic in town now is to call you on phone and use one of your online activities as bait(s).

For example;

I was called by some unknown crooks with the number 08135921697 last week, posing to be customer care representatives for an online sales forum which I'm a member. I was told that my account needs to be upgraded and that I should call my email address for them in order to confirm my identity, which I did. I was told that a code would be sent to me and that I should call the code for them.

Alas, when the code was received, it was a google account password reset verification code!

What they wanted to do was to change my password and lock me out of my gmail account. If the account is very important to me, maybe they'd ask for some ransome before the account is being released. Even if the account is not so important, they could use the account for fraudulent/dirty activities thereby leaving the stains on me!

This could happen to you, so, be guided!
Be quick to know what's suspicious and what's not. They can use any trick, but always beware!

I was called with the number 08135921697, they could call with any other mobile numbers!

In this era, cybersecurity and its awareness should be a top priority for all and sundry!!

Agriculture / Fertilizer For Hydroponics by Kdamilola(m): 11:10pm On Dec 03, 2017
Hydroponics as I know is becoming a household practise, and I'd love to venture into it as well. But what's stopping me had been how to prepare the liquid fertilizers (nutrients) required for the crop(s) to be planted.

I downloaded some videos from YouTube, but the ingredients used are not locally available. Does anyone know how to make these liquid fertilizers for hydroponics locally?

Thanks.

Agriculture / A Comprehensive Business Plan And Feasibility Study For Poultry Production by Kdamilola(m): 3:05am On Oct 22, 2017
A report released in 2015 stated that the Nigerian poultry industry is estimated at ₦80 billion ($600 million) and is comprised of approximately 165 million birds, which produced 650,000 metric tonnes of eggs and 290,0 00 metric tonnes of poultry meat in 2013 which could have increased over the course of 4 years. From a market size perspective, Nigeria’s egg production was estimated in 2015 to be the largest in Africa (South Africa is the next largest at 540,000 metric tonnes of eggs) and it has the 2nd largest chicken population after South Africa’s 200 million birds. But despite this humongous numbers, the poultry products produced by the country is yet insufficient for the populace. This in variably means, we still depend on importation to make ends meet in poultry consumption in the country.

And  to be an active participant of the industry in the country, you need a well articulated business plan with a  succinct yet comprehensively laid out financial plan.

We at DIY Agrokoncept present to you, a business plan that has all the necessary requirements of making the poultry industry you are venturing into a successful one. Our business plan lay out the risks, mitigating factors, SWOT analysis, initial operating expenses,‎ fixed expenses with depreciation and inflation rate among others. It deals with both broilers and layers independently. This gives you the liberty of choosing between raising of either layers, broilers or both.
