Maybe not really a leak, news has been circulating for six moths plus. Photos got out locally in Turkey like a month ago. It couldn't be hidden longer because of foreign made FLIR balls imported by Turkey from North American continent that was blocked by NATO giants because of Ukraine Russian war.

I really wish we can get their North American EO FLIR, because ban on Turkey caused doubts when some Ukraine TB2 drones shot downed by Russia exposed best FLIR optics technology to Russian hands for analysis to copy and defeat it.

Some of us fear a Turkey owned inferior EO IR balls on our NA drones due to the ban.

NA order is estimate #s

6 x Bayraktar MALE UAV

10 x Songar mini UAV

=

16 drones for now.

Songar is good vs high value assets strike like that noisy bandit lord of Zamfara.

It won't win us this war but its very useful additional needed assets.

Do your best our NA, with these 16 for now, hoping for more units procurement to form NA Aviation UCAV Air Wing.

One amusing thing I have notice on this thread is that some people can post absolute jargons and still defend it confidently.

A Toyota landcruiser 2019 with B6 level armouring goes for $150k... This one's below are up for sale.

Can withstand 7.62 mm rounds from 100 meters plus run-flat tires. Etc

B7 armouring are usually reserved for really heavy duty vehicles. Basically short of proper armoured personnel carriers.

A B6 has a usual armoured plating of around 41mm and will withstand rounds from 7.62x51mm, .380 Winchester, 9mm parabellum, 357magnum rounds, and 5.56x45mm NATO.

WHILE a B7 armouring has a thickness of around 78mm armoured plates and can withstand up to 30.06 armoured piercing rounds. This is heavy firepower.
You dont understand armoured vehicles sales market. That your pic armoured land cruiser can price so low 150k because its 2019 product for sale in 2022, its four year old tokunbo vehicle dude! Its also old model LC200. Its mileage also matters, a 10,000 km vehicle will be much higher price than 90,000 km mileage vehicles.

Current brand new is now land cruiser LC300 model because LC200 model is discontinued from this 2022 year. Brand new LC300 soft skin alone is like 80k base model, the limited edition full option like 140k.

Add up-armourimg B6, price up like 250k. Also up-armouring in China or India factory is cheaper, you do up-armouring like in Germany price doubles for sale.

Use composite armour in China, price can be 3 times more expensive China steel armour in same China.

B7 level armoured land cruiser is available, all your millimetre story is irrelevant because armour type varies, composite can is much more expensive but much lighter weight. Even steel armour B7 land cruiser is plenty from Dubai made to EU made, full market just google it. There is a technical trick we use for B7 level steel armour that makes it practically okay, but I wont tell you because u wont be grateful for valuable factory secret.

What I dislike about people like you is you write wrong things, someone helps you with valuable correct information but you are never grateful with a thank you, instead you will rubbish the person. Thats why I dont say some things here because its not worth dishing out value that the person does not appreciate. Why waste my time now?

Contract hustler, you like making claims of "discount prices" of military equipment on Nairaland.

Follow Sierra Nevada open lobbying shop for Abuja no be for Nairaland
Why I go dey hustle find contract when Nig Fed Gov and Army are shareholders in our local armouring company? We cant even meet up high demand from buyers. I only complain FG ordering from us in dozens but order from overseas in hundreds.

Minus that, am happy we no hustle for contract, so I support import of hi tech too advanced for us eg RCWS with thermal night vision long range.

For you sir, try no hug 1,000 volt PHCN transformer because your neighbour buy Lexus brand new, biko envy kills, no short ya lifespan my bros.

500K is too expensive sef. If I remember correctly, Inkas will take a vehicle from you and armor it to B7 level in around 3 months and for less than 100K USD
100k dollars is estimate for soft skin TLC200, TLC300, specs dry no extra add ons.

250k is like this our NA COAS TLC200 B6 not armed.

350k can get B7 no weapon.

500k ups you to add hidden, retractable thermal, stabilized, RCWS for day/night ops and also high accuracy shots targeting in our civilian populated Abuja. As you add necessary extra capabilities you add costs.

Foreign OEM offered FG full credit cover. Even at 500k per vehicle LATV specs SUV its affordable for Guards Brigade that has special FMF line budget allocation fund add security vote of presidency, both cash are allocated every year.

NA Guards Bgd regiment FCT can afford dozens of this asset to overmatch threat level of Abuja and secure us in FCT make we no die cheapay cheapay.

Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by keep2silent: 7:35pm On Jul 28, 2022
FIBUA engagement can happen in metropolitan AOR because Nigeria now has red level insecurity, so for our Army patrol on Abuja city streets, Guards Brigade mounted light infantry personnel should not ride soft skin Toyota Hilux, they should ride Toyota land cruiser TLC200, TLC300, its available armouring level B7 protected from 7.62mm armour piercing bullets, with options retractable RWS 7.62mm PKM GPMG plus coaxial 35mm AGL.

It blends well with environment, tainted glass so nobody sees soldiers uniform and retracted remote weapon station. It has option roof mount day/night vision tv camera not retracted but size reduced signature, also painted to blend with autobody color.

Correct asset for commercial - administrative capital city without signs that may cause public panic.

500k per vehicle but fit for purpose medium intensity combat. Over two hundred remain on offer to FGN in the files of Aso Rock with OEM finance funding for procurement without cash, but FG not serious with it.

Careless I don't care attitude has joined Naija Govt incompetence, while insecurity is cracking this helpless country from top to bottom and my life your life is not worth 10 kobo. We are just unlucky to be Nigerians.

Thank you my brother... I don't know how some people think something that happened months and some weeks ago they want it to remain the same.
Ok the Governor came out publicly to say there are terrorist in some communities in his state and some people here expect the situation to be the same today, the military is active and the top military brace will look into the governor's statement and then make subsequent deployment of troops to those affected communities..

STOP COMING HERE TO SAY WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW

The way they say things is as if there is no Government in the contry, so you are telling me since this news came out those communities have not seen security personnel's in their community.. ENEMIES of the STATE always happy to hear BAD news
Here is a December 14th report, today is December 31st.

"The Council Chairman of Mashegu, Alh. Alhassan Isah Mazakuka said victims who sustained injury in the attack are receiving treatment.

Mazakuka, Adogon Malam, Kulho among other communities in Mashegu LGA have been experiencing series of banditry attacks that have led to the death of many. Just last week, scores were feared dead."

You know Niger security situation better than Niger State Governor and Council Chairman reporting series of attacks in present continuous tense if you understand English.

Shay you have cleared all Bandits and Insurgents out of Niger State since those 16 days ago.

I dont insult anybody, but using English Language not meaning any insults, I say you and him are just fooling yourselves on Niger Banditry while Niger Government officials say you are wrong.

I leave you alone, I won't waste my time. Keeping silent is better

You claim to have special intel but you don't even know publicly available information like Niger State. Very funny.

Here is proof of what I said about Niger State where Bandits hold territory now.

"Niger Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, confirmed that Boko Haram terrorists have seized a territory in Kaure village in Shiroro Loca Government Area and have hoisted it flag there.

Kaure is 2 hours by road to Abuja. According to him, no fewer than 50 communities across the two local government areas have fallen under the Boko Haram control."

"The Secretary to the state government, Ahmed Matane, raised the alarn at a press conference in Minna on Tuesday.

Mr Matane said armed bandits were aligning with insurgents to indoctrinate residents in some communities in Shiroro Local Government Area."

First of all having a RWS on a light skinned pick up truck is simply ridiculous and not the way to go.

You want it on your APC, IFV ,LAV, MRAPS, etc.

You really need to have in the NA at least 1500 armoured vehicles ,that are mobile , resilient and fit for purpose.

A brand new Type 70 Toyota pick up truck ( soft skinned) military spec, will cost you about $60k . What's the lifecycle of this pick up after being hit a few times by the obligatory AK47 rounds huh Hard usage ,etc I really do not know.

However, I would procure used surplus equipment for a fraction of the cost, which is still relatively new and fit for purpose.

For example the M117, which is an MRAP type armoured vehicles. Which the Greeks got for a mere $70k with electronic hydraulic turrets still intact .

That means we can fit them with cheaper but still very effective HMG and 40mm Grenade launchers from Ukraine. Then retrofit FLIR and target acquisition software. You are good to go .

What do you think will happen to the entire arena of conflict in the North if you immediately commit 1500 armoured MRAP type fighting vehicles.

In the first instance , taking out technicals will be routine. It means you go off road and dont follow designated routes or roads. It means you drive at night without lights. You now have stealth with element of surprise. And the complete end of using soft skinned pick up trucks in a battle zone.

How much will all this cost a little above $110 million. Which would you rather be in s Toyota pickup or this .

Wow, so it seems the manufacturer that offered FGN 1,300 multi function MRAP ISR IFV vehicles was very right with their mix, the pics the procurement staff showed had 25mm and 90mm gun. I am comparing with the Greek story photos you posted.

Those 1,300 game changers would have likely ended the open part of war in Nigeria, only suicide bombing will remain for CID, DSS, NSCDC to kill by growing superb intel.

Makes me sad to see that the NA is loosing the media war - ignoring public relations is an inexcusable mistake. ISWAP is currently controlling the narrative by showing proof of their operations while the NA is just releasing ready-made text statements over and over again. Why dont they understand that (high quality) content on social media is a essential tool in the 21st century?
Ahhh Broz, so its only media war NA lose? Broz see Nigeria losing the whole of itself as Nigerian nation.

Bandito boys now hold new territory in Niger State few 100 miles away from Aso Rock FCT, created their own mini state inside Niger State under a Bandit Governor ruling two dozen villages in 5 LGA whose INEC elected Local Government Chairmen pick race run.

That ISWAP assault force drives to war in complete ORBAT standard motorized platoon of Nigerian Army they built as a full size motorized infantry platoon of our Army vehicles including Dubai sardine can Isotrex Tom Tom APC. See why NA DShkM protected mobility stupidiity waste of dollars are called half useless for our threat level?

Their 105mm cannon looks padded underneath by recoil force shock absorbers, also many parts removed to reduce weight, and Italian Mod56 howitzer has natural low recoil short barrel so 4x4 truck can support firing.

ISWAP improvised an Infantry Fire Support Vehicle, Assault Gun, Tank Destroyer that can destroy any Nigerian Army vehicle except our six VT-4 MBT.

Sadly only failing ideas decide FGN procurement. Better ideas are deleted. Even if its just the alleged 1,300 MRAP ISR IFV triple role on loan, cant PMB smartly avoid ending his 3,000 days in office in shame of guerillas defeat a general?

Nigerian Army only repels attackers, like NA is now a mosquito repellant?

Yes half useful because its not useless, but it cannot defeat current threats to secure Nigeria, we remain at war for ever, unless we do big procurement of vehicles best-fit for purpose. Nigerian Army 12.7mm HMG announced by NAHQ as our official main weapon VS Bandit & ISWAP 12.7mm HMG exactly same main weapon, is a fooolish game that will never end.

Betrayal of Nigeria

For all comments here doing important debate on RCWS, IFV, MRAP, overwhelming force destruction of enemy VS APC, Gun truck, HMG, stalemate 10 year ding dong war without end.

Intel from young admin staff filing top level official documents in highest offices of federal govt. of Nigeria, confirms one pending procurement offer roughly 1,300 vehicles of triple multifunction wheeled IFV MRAP APC mounted with RCWS auto cannon 25mm, auto grenade 40mm, GPMG 7.62mm, specs data, engine speed 120 kmh, body resists 14.5mm AP, belly resists 10kg TNT, thermals night vision sights 15km, fully funded by manufacturer 0% deposit payment (full repayment of the soft credit is scheduled forward) for FG in sweetheart deal, is gathering dust inside file as we speak. Its national betrayal by those privileged VIPs enjoying benefits in dollars from all those 300 half-usefull China and Dubai armoured vehicles imported for war without any weapon, to weld 12.7mm HMG, same weapon used by Jihad insurgents, armed bandits, etc to keep on war without winner permanent stalemate

If an IFV were to get stuck in the same manner as this APC, would it not be abandoned by troops? Would the bandits not have all the time they need to burn it down? When that happens, will you then start clamoring for the deployment of tanks to kill individual bandits? When the opportunity arises for the bandits and they get to burn a tank, what other platform would you advise the military go for?

What particular armor do these bandits operate that 12.7mm or 14.5mm won't penetrate? These guys practically move around with motorcycles.

Even US wasn't moving around with only IFVs in Afghanistan. Despite many r as nkls getting damaged in Iraq, humvees were still being deployed.
There is no platform the Saudis and the Emiratis haven't lost in Yemen yet they haven't stopped deploying APCs.

The bandits are everywhere at the same time and ambushes are very easy for them to execute, our poorly built bases are also contributing to the losses we are incurring.
Come on man, stop manipulating events saying Mowag APC got stuck in gutter thats why bandits were able to burn it and same can happen to IFV. Is that army driver eye blind to drive off road to stuck his APC inside gutter, na mumu he be?

September 2021 Zamfara true reality is more like, in heat of combat that NA MOWAG APC armour was penetrated by bullets from Bandit PKM, DShK likely killed driver, no more control so APC rolled into gutter, so Mowag APC was already defeated tactically by evil Bandits before they later set it on fire, not the childish story you conjured my dear friend.

Look at same type of MOWAG 6x6 one captured neatly parked under tree shade, second burned in March 2017 was safely on neat road but defeated in combat before it was burned, or is it stuck in gutter before it was burned like your fake news twisting of battle events? I used to think you were realistic before, but you seem like you will rather spread bad ideas than take good correction.

This is why Nigerians with smart sense do not celebrate ordinary APC procurement

The APC the whole discussion is about can comfortably take hits from 12.7 mm
Haba why do you keep repeating this misinformation? Type 89 APC has different variants, we don't know the variant NA bought.

Some can only take 12.7mm hits on frontal arc, but only stop AK-47 rifle 7.62mm hits on both sides and rear.

Its best variant that withstand 12.7mm all round is only comfortable if Bandit or ISWAP fires DShK from long distance, anything closer than 300 feet to that armour will fully penetrate and kill all our soldiers inside your magical Type 89 APC that you are praising like its the perfect equipment for Nigerian Army to succeed grin

What do u need IFV for against bandits ..
The NE is probably the sole reason those apcs where bought... And have seen any st1 deployed elsewhere other than the NE...
i ask these questions, because u contend deployment of 6 vehicles accross Nigeria forgetting in total they were bought for the NE
Besides no matter how unenlightened our army is painted, they surely know what they intend those vehicles for... This is their job for God sake...
You say no need of IFV against deadly Bandits that shot down expert pilots flown NAF Alpha Jet with anti-aircraft guns recently, attacked and overun a whole army FOB in Mutumji, Dansadau Zamfara killed half a platoon of special forces & mechanized troops, looted base armoury, destroying NA APC types like this MOWAG Pirahna 6x6 APC.

Bandits have grown power that ordinary APC with 12.7mm cannot stop them once they strike full force. Army chief of staff General Yahaya rushed there weeks ago by himself to see!

To be replying some people here is just a waste of time. Better I find better things to do with my club, we have game to play.

Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by keep2silent:
Whyem15:
The need for greater firepower does not erase the need for protected mobility Sha, Nigeria cannot afford convoys filled with IFVs across the various theaters. The most pressing need is to reduce the number of soft skins used in battles. Lack of protected mobility is the single largest cause of casualties on NA's side. And for the time being, the ST1 can do the job any IFV is going to do howbeit more expensively. With time, the need for greater firepower will be satisfied.

The type 89 can withstand up to 12.7mm ammo, anything beyond that, the enemy has in little quantity.
Dont be deceived broda, armour withstand 12.7mm has distance limit, fire closer like 300 feet away Bandits DShK will penetrate kill all soldiers inside our Type 89 APC. Some variants of Type 89 can only resist 7.62mm AK-47 rifle on sides & back armour.

Wow! You say NA will use their 6 units of ST-1 to any job of IFV ? Only 6 vehicles to cover all of Nigeria, or you mean Sao Tome Island? grin

Nigeria lacks money, best idea- buy enough quantity of cheap multi-role platform combining our army's 3 major needs 1. protective mobility 2. firepower 3. day/night vision, all 3-in-1 save costs. Prices from half a million dollars upward are surplus in world market.

Anything different is waste of time, money, innocent lives. Unarmed new Isotrex MRAP that stupidily came to give soldiers only protective mobility were captured by ISWAP brand new before NA can mount guns on them like these unarmed Type 89. We no dey learn sha, be pushing aside firepower

Pls kindly end this war now bcom import procurement business for those few lucky Nigerian elites using our suffer heads like pangolo.

It is not too heart-warming but still a good news, NA could have done better but the motive could have been finding a reasonable replacement for guntrucks in the hot zones in reasonable QUANTITY. I doubt they could get 40 modern IFVs for the price of 60 of these and its not like IFVs are indestructible. A little modification such as adding cage armor to these will significantly reduce the risk of rpgs. And in addition to the MTLBs and BMPs, it will definitely tilt the balance more in favor of NA in the next offensive. The MTLBs were reported to have been very effective in the last offensive.
And with increasing numbers of tracked platforms, NA's ability to continue offensive deep into the raining seasons increases.
Mate, I cant blame you for being optimistic o, abi wetin man pikin go do now? grin

But sha in 2015 NA used 43 tokunbo T-72 tanks to recapture like 60 towns in 8 weeks what 136 new Vickers tanks cannot do in a whole year, night vision n RPG resistant made big difference, gave us victory in 2015.

Yes IFV of hull n belly STANAG 4, RPG cage, is nearly indestructible to Naija Bandits, BHT, ISWAP, such IFV is d real game changer.

Type 89 IFV uses low-cost RCWS 25mm with cheap IR night vision as China makes it specially very cheaply affordable, easy to use, effective power, thats why poor armies Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, etc rushed to buy it plenty.

But why waste effort to fix RPG cage on APC that its sides and rear can only resist ordinary AK-47 rifle?

No mind our Naija Army n MoD big men joor, they dont care for best choice grin Cheapest may not solve problem as our 10 years war now turn to nationwide insecurity. NA needs equipment thats able to bring us final solution not just plenty of ineffective cheapest vehicles in market

Tsaigumi has never been shown conducting reconnaissance since commissioning. I'll eat my hat if Ichoku is anything closer to reality than words they keep releasing.

Some of the drones able to do their work efficiently rely on IP, technology and patents we don't even seem to have access to. We could get there via R& D but takes significant money, years of experience and the best brains.
I usually avoid commenting unless necessary.

We are like under a curse, even as good as NAF is behaving in decisions they make, this is a bad idea, a waste of money and time. I think Arone company owners have insider connect at top level in NAF drone research program and they sold the idea to head of R & D who also may see personal profit in it and signed the NAF-Arone deal, Arone has no theoretical knowledge or practical ability to build any drone for anybody anywhere.

Arone is not a registered company, it exists only on an internet website, it has no real office, the staff sit in a hub shared work space for several start up new businesses that have no resources to operate. So how do these 20 and 30 something years old boys with no funds, no world class relevant qualifications, no previous cognate similar work experience, claim to be building drones and NAF chose them as partners?

The whole team are all locally schooled guys including a CEO with a false claim of USA MIT University laboratory qualification when actually he is Enugu Nsukka graduate of Mathematics who did during his early campus days as UNN student, a cheap easy online paper course of a few weeks Stanford University for theory only knowledge of a practical course called Machine Learning that he cannot apply practically to build anything. Saying they build drones is a big lie and insult to the intelligence of all Nigerians.

Arone CEO false claims, https://www.linkedin.com/in/emmanuelezenwere/?originalSubdomain=ng

All their technology experts have likely never stepped outside of Nigeria, not even to Ghana to learn any drone building tech, they can only do paper writing and 3D animation videos, any real drone they build will be small drone with imported parts harvested from the DJI type mini-drones sold in shopping malls overseas and online Amazon sales shop. Is that what they will produce for NAF to fight real wars?

Arone at best can do same thing they do now in Tanzania, Uganda, etc, buy $3,000 civilian copter drone on Amazon online, use it as civilian logistics delivery drone for boxes of packaged goods like blood banks delivery to hospitals in difficult locations as a UAV medical materials delivery service. Ask them to show you that green white drone with multiple tilt-rotors propeller high tech drone they painted with Arone name, its not real, and if shown, its not their original product, or where did they get high performance gyroscope and FLIR electro-optics components?

The Arone company technical team, they all schooled and worked here with us in the east, S.E. Naija local boys.

Look, hot truth is, NAF has been offered top class expert support from Nigerian engineers with real M.Eng./PhD from American Universities, very senior engineers working for many years in project design and factory production as staff of Boeing makers of Scan Eagle UAV , NASA space program, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Predator/Reaper Armed Drones projects, Lockheed Martin fighter jet program, but NAF ignored all of them, they say they are not interested, so NAF rather chose other type of Nigerians who make drones only on 3D animated images.

Check Arone official website, the drone they claim to have built is in a 3D animated cartoon video clip show of 49 seconds! Let them show us a real drone that is Arone made own copyright product, they have nothing.

All their so called qualifications in drone courses are poor certificates from theory paper courses from unaccredited online tuition houses.

The fraud is, these are guys from the east and the top level of NAF research centre is mostly controlled by senior officers from the east, they just brought their junior brother to make millions off NAF tight budget.

Nigeria may never develop technologically because the first qualification for those who can do it right, is to know the top officials that will approve the deal, so what if they dont know anybody at the top, the whole of Nigeria has to remain backward and suffer?

Its a disappointing one from NAF like the strange NAF procurement of Poland made Honker 4x4 tactical trucks purchase that has now vanished from service operating around 2016.

This a deliberate NAF monkey banana technology partnership deal that will not achieve anything real for Nigeria's long delayed drone production dreams and cost maybe some small $2 million in public funds that will just vanish on worthless projects spending to be covered up as research /development costs, I guess its just a smart money diversion for NAF top men to eat after doing a good job in most other aspects.

That good job is actually a normal average common sense performance from 2015, it only looks fantastic to us as Nigerians because the NAF before them did very bad jobs for years up to 2014. In a sane country of sensible humans like Ethiopia Botswana Morocco, all that NAF is doing well now, will just look ordinary average to their citizens.

I want to blast rich, powerful corrupt Kenyans holding top level public office, for messing up Kenyan Army till brave young soldiers struggle years with terrorists that dont have half their education or training. I cannot blast them because my own just flashed to my face like our whole continent South-Sahara is same way shameless guilty with no conscience.

Nigerians have entered one chance danfo bus, our hope for change is lost , our leaders do show of shame yet we cry insecurity, blood spill everywhere, big boss dont care, no wonder poor equipment remain on Borno frontline, 10 month war turns to 10 year war, Nigeria listed with Somalia-Libya getting Visa travel ban.

Urgent Police Force upgrade equipment procurement contract signed in Dubai is now a fight Oga VS Oga in Aso Rock, the once Lion PMB is watching like pussy cat as those we did not vote for are ruling Nigeria into wasteland. Why do our leaders hate our welfare?

I completely disagree with you.

France is a world power, and has one of the largest armies in NATO.

With regards specifically to Mali, let us look at the situation on the ground.

Military operations in Mali does not cover all of Mali. The insurgency in Mali is completely in the North of Mali.

Mali is also a very rural country, with large open, uninhabited areas where military operations are carried out.

French military assets in Africa include permanent military bases Air Force and Army bases in Niger, Drones and Mirage-2000D fighter jets fly from there.

Another permanent military base in Chad, Rafael fighter jets and army men are based there.

Another permanent military base in Ivory Coast, French Foreign legionaries are based there.

A Forward operating base in Senegal, another Forward Operating base in Cameron.

Access to military ports in Benin republic

Then there are the 4,000 men based in Mali.

So in actual fact, France has a larger military presence in west-africa, than Nigeria has in Nigeria.

The highest amount of soldiers we have deployed in the Northeast is 20,000 soldiers.

France has 4,000 with the help of Chadian soldiers, Belgium, UK, Finland, Sweden, and a MINUSMA force which also has Nigerian soldiers, Senegalese soldiers etc.

So in actual fact, France receives more help than Nigeria, plus a well developed defence industry and modern equipment.

Yet France has been fighting for 6 years in Mali.

Let that sink in.

I know our own is not good in Nigeria, but a well equipped force with plenty support and bases cannot defeat slippers wearing terrorists.

So yes, Nigerian soldiers are trying.
What? You disagree completely with the fact that 30 years of bad and corrupt military rule by Nigerian Army ruined Nigeria till massive insurgency became a new way people tell goverment they want something?

Low levels like lance corporals, privates etc among Nigerian soldiers are trying as they are our sacrificial lambs, but top leadership is not doing well with faulty procurement and lack of willingness to modernize our obsolete army. France hardly ever lost any FOB, unlike Nigeria that lost army bases like 100 times to BHT ISWAP.

France should devote her super power military might to rescue Mali? Why? Mali is France or Africa is Europe? Do you know the hundreds of billions of dollars it will cost the economy of France to deploy a large army far from home? Afghanistan and Iraq large scale deployments almost bankrupted American economy now in heavy debt.

Those 4,000 French troops are not fighting with aim of defeating insurgency in Mali, they are there to protect French uranium and gold mining businesses as well as keep loyal Mali goverment loyal to France forever.

France actually wants to maintain these volatile situations where Mali will forever need French troops helping Mali, so that modern day colonialism can last forever. French man no care if northern half of Mali has some Tuareg rebels, it's not Frenchman's fatherland. All they wish to do is send a minimum size small Brigade level force enough to protect and keep Malian uranium and gold flowing into France's economy forever. If France really wants to wipe out Mali rebels, they won't send only 4,000 men without a single Leclerc tank, to join a few uncommitted peace keepers who don't want to die in Mali for we Black men's sake, they just want deployment salaries from UN. Some peace keeping European countries in Mali went there to use Mali deployment to meet up required track record for application to win permanent seat at UN almighty Security Council, no foreign nation is there to die for Mali by trying to wipe out battle hardened rebels for 'Black Africans who cannot manage their country well' as they call us.

Nigerian soldiers have their own native homeland to die for if need be. Lt. Gen. Buratai COAS is son of the soil of Borno, but French Army chief of staff is not a son of Mali, he won't risk much to free Mali, his Brigade size small army is there only to colonize for mineral resources not to make Mali a better nation.

I repeat, 30 years of bad and corrupt military rule by Nigerian Army created all today's insecurity. You can disagree with your own life history if you wish, na you sabi o. grin

I have more fun reading than posting, but just a few lines here.

Lets not judge wrongly, France is not fighting insurgency on France's territory where full power of France's armed forces can be deployed in one full blow to wipe out the type of malnourished Boko Haram Nigeria is struggling 10 years to push out of our lands. NA is fighting at home with average of 100,000 Nigerian soldiers. Mali is much bigger than Nigeria, so how can 4,000 French troops cover such huge land? If France at home in France launches it's full air force helicopter gunships and jets, full army, all special forces, some 300 Leclerc tanks, 900 IFVs, 2,000 MILAN anti-vehicle guided missiles on rusty Toyota riding Boko Haram type of poorly armed insurgents, BHT will either run away to another country or die fighting.

Nigeria's insecurity today is caused by Nigerian army military rule 30 years long, they started massive corruption-treasury looting, economic mismanagement, waste of national resources, bad weapons procurement habits, etc. They wrecked Niger Delta with total marginalization, poverty and ecological degradation till the people started Delta Militancy to set a bad example for others that the only way to get your right from FGN to eat daily bread, is to start insurgency strong enough to hold the army to stalemate. NA ruined us in the first place so they should play a role to fix this our Nigeria they broke.

God bless all we Nigerians, both civilians and uniformed forces.

I noticed recently lots of military hilux fitted with Normal machine guns like DSHK and M2 Browning. Is there any reasons for this? i feel its a total waste of Toyota Hilux cars wink

I heard BH guys after burning down government lodge at Gajiram town Maiduguri-Monguno road promised to celebrate Jumaat there.
Tho I withdraw back to my silence policy on social media, ma country people lemme drop last words to clap for you all on your 1000 page celeb.

Yes, as he noticed, Nigerian army under-uses our 4x4 Jeeps by official refusal despite 10 years long begging from many since 2010, to amend our normal doctrine of weaker machine guns because BHT terrorizing us and all our Francophone neighbours fully adopt KPV + ZPU machine guns, same type BH used to kill battalion of Nigerian soldiers- Big downgrade of our country's inventory firepower by NA/MoD bosses. Pix, ordinary Iraq Police, abeg NA + MoD save us pls.

(True yarn not bash, NA cannot beat Chad's new army, cant beat BHT = cant beat Chad's thousand KPV, ZPU, ZSU, that our brave NA soldiers fear, run, or stay to die). GBye my peoples. wink

ISWAP/BHT is not UNITA. The former employs asymmetric means as a strategy of remaining relevant in a war it cannot win - The Nigerian Army is not going anywhere for these are our lands. The UNITA you mentioned fell apart with the opportune death of its leader Jonas Savimbi who was at the wrong place at the wrong time and not any textbook classical military defeat as you insinuate. Your accounts here are all mismatch not true history. The type of kinetic means of warfare you advocate against ISWAP/BHT is not possible as they are not a dug in conventional army with positions to engage. This is CT/COIN warfare with an unseen enemy willing to die for "God". Kapish.

And Nigeria pays for the MNJTF whose rules of engagement allows for cross border operations of which Nigeria bears the bulk of combat responsibility.
I avoided direct argument with you because you are not a soldier from your writings, but I am a soldier, so we are not the same by orientation.

I didn't advocate tactics you strangely name 'kinetic means of warfare', I advocated proper Motorized Infantry AFV, IFV instead of our weaker APC, soft skin Jeep doctrine, for our new Super Camp offensive adopted over defensive formations. You don't get it, NA actually started 'kinetic means', but it's called- Combined Arms Offensive.

What I advocated is called ORBAT or OOB not 'kinetic means' as you wrongly called it. There's different between soldier and civilian, but we are all Nigerians. You won't understand depth I had in mind with that wish, it's technically beyond you my fellow countryman. Have a pleasant signal silent night.

Why Angola? Twas former favourite war talk in Nigerian barracks, Angola war was feared more than Liberia. UNITA got huge American help. Angola got foreign help. Nigerian army too gets huge MJNTF help from thousands of Chad, Niger, Cameroon soldiers, SF, fighting deep inside Nigerian towns. All Cuban military withdrew from Angola 1991, but war ended 2002 when Angolan army new offensive crushed UNITA militarily.

Motorized Infantry is the big difference, huge offensive capability of Angolan Army Infantry guns, missiles armed 1,500 AFV IFV that I wish for Nigerian Army Super Camp strategy to flood whole North East, crush BHT, ISWAP much faster than they recruit.
No need argue long stories of the war, face its final conclusion, Cambridge University scholars publication accurately says Angolan army defeated UNITA rebels militarily in 2002. We wish NA crush BHT, as UNITA was crushed. Why argue? undecided

If a man don't know a thing? No shame asking. Life can be simple.

Yes, Angolan Army lots of offensive weaponry crushed UNITA the best equipped insurgent, rebel, strangely conventional but guerrilla like force in Africa, scholars affirm it.

Post-War Angola by
Justin Pearce.

Published by Cambridge University Press, 20th November 2018.

Abstract:

The electoral support manifested by Angolan opposition party UNITA since its defeat as an armed movement in 2002 defies opposition parties prognoses for such rebel movements defeated militarily, who later recast themselves as political parties.

Those evil BHT, ISWAP have many trained local civilian recce spies and few disloyal army fifth columnists working overtime 24/7 finding reporting our troops movements, men, equipment to BHT camp commanders. Nairaland is not their key source. Don't blame yourself for problem you don't cause. Troop patrol positions change rapidly, static FOB, check points are visible to everybody, BHT are not 3 blind mice.

Hiding our gunboats when navies with frigates, cruisers, display them openly as national deterent strategy to warn potential enemy? Our NA Amphi boats, NN gunboats on road to Lake Chad have nuclear ICBM launchers on board to hide?

Nigerian army has no weapon that scares any country having modest capable army. Sadly BHT does not fear us anymore. NA lost deterent type ORBAT arsenal we had in 1988, those weapons now obsolete, no country fears them today.

I am very happy to see new strategy like our Super Camp, but without Super Weapons I really pray it works. How do we win big war with small procurement small money? Is our head small too? We must think big like Angola. Super Camp is very good but not a genius idea, a Sandhurst trained infantry major can figure it out. My prayer is for millions of dollars to be spent on our own NA to equip us like Army of Angola that crushed UNITA insurgency. God bless our Nigerian Army and forgive their sins, amen.

second hand humvees would not solve the ambush problems. We need proper MRAP and IFV.
Enough with handouts
Sorry people, all of you are right NA needs good IFV in large numbers but likely to never happen because Nigerian Army doctrine does not use IFV, we use APC and soft skin troop carrier, its major weakness of NA, killing so many loyal soldiers, causing endless war. You want IFV ? Change all army leadership, replace with modern thinkers. Sensible Chad has some 200 modern IFV including this BMP-1U upgrade.

It might be a dream, but "some people" are saying the super tucano will start arriving from 2020.

https://www.legit.ng/1255241-nigeriall-delivery-super-tucano-fighter-jets-2020.html
"Nigeria to take delivery of Super Tucano fighter jet in 2020, the Presidency said delivery of the fighter jets is in federal government's determination to keep Nigerian Military in good fighting shape - Bashir Ahmad said the jets are expected to be delivered from the United States of America."

One of the most senior media officials at highest level inside Presidency of Nigeria calling Super Tucano a Fighter JET in this modern day of free info Google ! Ignorance, incompetence at all levels, yet this is the best government Nigeria can produce for now, those other elites people are calling to rule, are even worse than these ones we complain about. We cannot produce Ghandi, Churchill, Xi Jinping type of capable leaders in Nigeria, ah! we will suffer for the next 30 years! Some 10 years of big messy BHT war, yet our top level public officials still don't understand simple basic military words.

Also our dear army cannot re-strategize, redeem itself, save us from invasion and international shame. Our current NA COAS was trained in Bangladesh Military Academy, same Bangladeshi Army that messed up in Sierra Leone UN peace keeping, some 1,000 Bangladeshi troops and army generals were disarmed of all weapons then stripped down to underwear by Sierra Leone rebels with only AK-47, PKM not even anti-aircraft guns like BHT, same Bangladeshi army academy trained our top army leader, no wonder he told journalists "Old 1940 weapons are okay now 2019 to defeat ISWAP, it's NA troops who lack courage to use obsolete weapons to fully defeat BHT." Please lets leave sentiments aside, Nigeria has no quality leaders, no saviour anywhere. A-29 Tucano is turbo-prop aircraft not fighter jet, our dear Aso Rock Presidency bosses don't even understand what they paid $500 million big cash to buy. undecided
