I'm a frequent visitor to this page. I have an issue and would be grateful if some advice is offered.

Is there a way I can move my funds away from Payoneer (to Paypal, maybe)? My card expires in December and although I've requested for another card, it's yet to land (despite Payoneer saying it'll arrive today).

I know it may arrive eventually, but I'm just thinking, just in case it doesn't. I don't want my money "frozen" in the Payoneer account.

One has to have a plan B.

I don't know about PayPal but I know you can move your funds from Payoneer to Skrill. Do you have a Skrill account? If you don't have one yet send me a PM and I'll send you my referral, you've got nothing to lose but everything to gain.
If however you do have a Skrill, just use the add debit / credit card feature on your Skrill account page and add your Payoneer card by inputing the card details, then verify it. A small amount will be deducted from your Payoneer which you'd have to confirm on your Skrill account. Once you're verified (it takes minutes), you can transfer your funds by using the "Upload" feature. Just select your Payoneer card and enter the amount you wish to transfer. It's a very straight forward process.

Freelance web development/programming can turn you into a millionaire if you know your onions. I was looking at a client who had paid out over 500K and I saw that only one person( a developer) earned about 320k from him since 2013. That means an average of 100k per year, and the dude was an Indian.

Tech talents are in short supply, and they that know their code, shall become millionaires... at least in Naira.

True talk, but being a finance person, venturing into the Tech area may just be stretching it. I've considered it, I even took a number of Harvard computer / coding classes but at the end, combining it with financial / Economic writing was just too much. Everyone's hungry for skills but at the end, one just has to stick to what he's good at.

I support this opinion. I think we can control inflation and unnecessary price hike by not starting rate. I do state rate though, but it's just to avoid too many messages, but I think I can sacrifice that for the sake of controlling HIKE. click like if you support. Share if you are aginst the view.

I've always wondered why a lot of Nigerians are not on the platforms making money!

Personally, I've hired a total of 4 developers at different times and I've paid them close to $100,000. Most of the developers are from India and one was from East Europe.

The most important factor for me is having a response that's responsive to my requirements. I need to feel comfortable that you know what you're saying and can actually deliver. That means you would need to be able to demonstrate your knowledge through your proposal, especially if you can bring up points or questions that I didn't consider.

My current developer is close to wrapping up my ongoing project but I'm not sure if I would use them for the next project. My next project will involve developing a business tool using whatever the API for developing a ribbon extension for Microsoft Word is called. I'll try cross posting on this site when the time comes.

That'll be great. I look forward to seeing your post on this thread even though I don't know jack about all that.

Truth be told, many peoe who offer low rates gigs are subcontracting the jobs. They get it at let's say $0.05 per word and sell the job to other writers at 2 dollar per 1000 words article. Most writing jobs for beginners sell for around $20 for 500 words. Bad as e bad, give them $10 and keep the balance.
SEO writers make up to $400 upwards writing articles have seen no where do they offer good soe wriitters #3500 or #5000.

True, but all that have now been confirmed to be nothing but a "test". The actual job is now, wait for it...$180 per article! Apparently, writers now have more value than security men and cooks and I look forward to hearing testimonies of folks that'll benefit from this impending largesse.

Articles are in categories and degrees. I pay as high as N3,500 to N5,000 for specialty articles but these require a great deal of experience and know-how. You cannot compare an SEO article with a general article. Pay can never be the same. How many people can boast of experience in SEO specialty articles that can pass Google Penguin updates for SEO ranking?

How many people can prepare conversion scripts for lead generation campaigns? These are also writing projects but they are highly specialized and not for any Tom, Dick and Harry. Those who need more pay for articles need to develop the skill-set that goes with it. It is as simple as that.

If you've been to Freelancer, you'll appreciate what Upwork is trying to avoid. I posted a job on Freelancer, and within five minutes, I had at least 50bids - all Indians!
Upwork aren't only trying to control the number of applicants, they're also trying to balance the nationalities to make the site a sane place for both employers and Freelancers. It's unfortunate that you're at the receiving end but you don't have to quit, just take their advice and keep upgrading or offer a unique and highly sought skillset that'll make it difficult for your application to be rejected.
