kettykin:

All that is needed is for a UN or federal government mandated referendum. If nobody is holding the igbos why is nnamdi Kanu and Benjamin onwuka in jail.

why did nairaland say no to secessionist and secessionist topics.

Why is the inept military abusing the rights of ipob youths in the east and shoot at unarmed protesters.

Since we are not contributing any thing to the national economy, why not let the Igbo people seceed without so much drama. N'a by force to help person? We say we no need una help but you are forcing it down my throat. That's because you need me for something no other person can provide. Your so called lagos is largely populated by the same race you are talking about. Almost half of that industry and businesses are owned by the Igbo and some expertrates. You also forget that Abia, and Imo are part of the NDDC. Have you asked yourself why?. OK. Agriculture ? Have you ever asked yourself where all the very large yams in the market come from? Anambra and Ebonyi. Rice nko ? Anambra, uzouwani in Enugu state, and Abakiliki.
Please research before posting a comment to expose your folly

Politics / Heart In The Rising Sun: Resources Control In The New Nigeria by kelabok(m): 6:07pm On Sep 03, 2016
One of the reasons why there is so much political tension in Nigeria is how to share the national cake. This also remains the reason brothers kill their kin and do all to blind the rest. Since 1999, different States in the country have basically looked up to the federal government for finances with which to cover the most basic of the state need. Virtually all the state except Lagos, Kaduna and may be Anambra can boast of a robust IGR in the midst of abundance. This over reliance on the federal government is also the reason there exist ethnic division in the country today. The question in every ones mouth is "from which ethnic will the chief executive officer of the federation emanate?". This is because we are more interested in exploiting others than developing ourselves. We want to take more of the national cake even at the expense of those from whose soil a large chunk of that money comes from. This is why we are still backward... Least we forget "a wrestler that holds his opponent down with his hands can never enjoy the fruit of his victory without letting go of his opponent. Such is the situation we face in this country.
Should we ever want to progress as a people, then we must take our destinies in to our own hands. We must emphasise 100%resource control to all the states of the federation. I know some one will be asking himself whether this guy is mad or something but yes that's the only answer to turn around the fortunes of this country. each state will pay 55% of its earnings to the regional government as will be discussed latter. From this 55%, 30 % will be remitted to the federal government for projects across the Federation. Trust me with this kind of structure, each region will be able to look inwardly and develop at its own pace. I believe this is the only way to change our peoples attitude to leadership. Then and only then will you see academia and business people who has lot to offer come to the helm of affairs. We as a country should start emphasising this generation as an "age of vision actualisation" instead of maintaining the old status quo of parasitism.

God help us. this is still okay compared to some other federal road.
Compared to which Road? This is the worst Federal Road any region can have. And for those trying to blame Jonathan, please repent for you are suffering from............. Good luck has transformed the Enugu airport to what it is today. In fact make I no talk. But let this regime impact the whole regions positively in one way or the other and people will stop lamenting. That Road has been bad for years now. Rumour has it that the road had been awarded to some contractors through some indigènes of Enugu state but for where the money escaped. Yet the government that claims to fight quaraption has failed to fish those involved out and punish them because they are now part of the chain G band wagon.
Politics / Heart In The Rising Sun : Biafran Independence And The South East by kelabok(m): 4:56pm On Aug 19, 2016
The Biafran issue has become a trending topic in the social media, religious and social gathering in the south East and other parts of the country. The issue have divided even families; this is given to the fact that some view it with lots of skepticism while others herald it. Amongst those that are more of Biafrans than Nigerians (by this I mean those born before or during the war) they crave for the rebirth of a nation they once adored.
The resurrection of the Biafran ghost was born out of necessity. Bearing in mind the untold neglect the people of Biafra have faced since the down of the Democratic dispensation, one really begins to wonder the place of the old south East in the whole Nigerian project. A region abandoned and rejected, left to its own faith, only their never say die approach have kept them. The challenge of the south East is not only the near absence of the federal government but also a deliberate attempt by the powers that be to erase the Biafran heritage from the history books. The government education policy have never allowed the true Biafran story to be told. Those available were distorted to paint the Biafran pioneers black. Those involved forgot that oral tradition is ingrained in the Igbo culture. The distorted facts on the pages of text books was demystified by stories told by the old sage that experienced the Biafran/Nigerian war first hand and the events that led to it.
Instead of preserving the Biafran heritage as developed countries of the West do; the discoveries of the Biafran scientists and other sites were either not well preserved or destroyed. The Nigerian government appeared to be winning until between 1999 to 2000 when the struggle picked momentum with the creation of MASSOB. This opened up the wounds and the flies(federal government) dived to clamp down the agitation for a sovereign state of Biafra. The government in their usual way extended an olive branch to the leaders of this group and when it seemed that the struggle was dying a natural death;a new group of more sophisticated young lads emerged willing to dissect all that stands on its way. The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra embarked on public enlightenment and the crude exposure of the dealings of the political class. His moves led the government to go after that Igbo enemy of the state;and thus his incarceration. The question is do you treat the symptoms of a cancer or the curse? The problem is not Nnamdi kanu neither is it with the Niger Delta Avengers; the problem lies in the erected structure of inequality in the country. A structure that takes what belongs to one person and gives it to another and expect that person to smile home. A structure built on the satisfaction of the insatiable appetite of one person living others to feed from the crumbles of its own resources. This crumble do not even get to the target population but ends up in the pockets of government contractors and other vested interest and you expect the poor masses to be quite.
The hegemonic oppressors will continue to use what ever means available to make sure that they remain at the apex. They employ the tool of division, stereotyping etc. They tell use that the Igbo man does not love his brother;that in an ideal situation that the Igbo man and it's more related brothers in the Niger Delta can not co-exist.... All to bring more division within use in other to rule Pepertually. If there is a lesson to be learnt, I believe the voting pattern during the 2015 general elections have said it all. The Igbo takes the south southern as brothers more than any other on the country. I believe it is high time our Igbo brotherbrother in the south south who were deliberately drafted out of main stream Igbo state to deny the Igbo the right full claim in the Nigeria oil to realise their true identity and Wear it's crown with dignity and pride.
Just like the Hausa and Yoruba;the actions of Enugu state governments at appointing an Abia man as the chief of staff is enough proof that there is an undying love amongst the Igbo people.
On the other hand, some have argued that the south East/south south (Biafra) will not survive due to their dependence on the north for staple foods. I will say that because we have forgotten how viable we were in agricultural activities in time past does not mean we can not just live a lion that forgot to use his claw for self defence does not mean it lack claws. Anambra state and Ebonyi state in the past have shun like a million star in agriculture and for other states;when the time comes we shall see after all necessity they say is the mother of invention.
Biafra for me should be allowed to come to pass;but not as an independent state but as a region in a one United Nigeria. The task in the hand of the Igbo elite should be to reposition the Biafran nation in such a way that it would be self reliant given the abundance of human and material resources around in the region and also their entrepreneurial edge. The structure necessary for Biafra and in extention other regions no matter the name they chose to bear; to flourish and prosper will be discussed in my next write up.

waking this morning came with an unusual feeling, one born out of a genuine concern for not only my future but for that of my generation and the Igbo ethnic in general. We as a people have been perpetually been relegated to the backgrounds of affairs in times past and indices have shown that this is the route we should expect to ply in years to come in this contraption called Nigeria. I called it so because of how complicated we have made the simplest of things appear. The Igbo people usually referred to as one of the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria have lost its appeal to so many that they seem to look like one of the minority groups in Nigeria in spite of all its ingenious efforts at ensuring the progress of our nation. In fact permit me to use the exact word people often use in their mind but not courageous enough to use in the open. These second class citizens should be subjugation in the markets(which is of cause the main stay of its people), in federal appointments, in the establishment and maintenance of federal structures across the country, in recruitment in to and promotion at the federal civil service. The man from the south East will remain prejudiced so long as this nation remains as it is. When I talk of the south East(as is the major focus of this write up) other minorities should think about this nation as it affects them.
The ethnocentric political behaviour have already been engrained not only in our brains but have become part of our genetic composition. It is easy to tread blames; it's the fault of the Europeans, Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba. After all its logical because they brought use together in the first place. But did they really do that? Did they bring use all from different continents to form Nigeria or even Africa. It still remains true that we are different in culture but aren't we of one race? If so why can't we co-exist peacefully. After all we in various States in the East and across the 36 States hold stereotypes against one another. This was brought upon use by the whites but now they are gone why then can't we turn a new leaf. Why do we have to trade people's happiness for just our own people as is currently being done by Buhari and other before him. Why have the roads in the south East remained how it is when the was surplus to embark on lots of white elephants projects. The answers to these questions and some others in your mind lies in the structure of the Nigerian state. Within some days I will be taking you through what I persive as the solution to the current political quagmire facing this colonial handiwork.

Thanks for the corrections.....? Dont be fooled, when was mid Western region created? The old eastern region which included the ss and present day south West Cameroon pre dates your mid Western region... Pls prove me wrong. The creation of mid Western region was a political ploy to further destabilise the old eastern region. And give more hegemony to the north and the NPC. Do you think I never knew of the presence of some carpet crossing sabo Yoruba generals. Let's leave political analysis for another day but just go back to history and look at the connection between the south East and the south south. Use the well researched text titled "In Biafra Africa died" as your guide............ Pls Is the name port Harcourt indigenous to the present people of rivers state? Why do majority of Rivers people bear igbo names and have cities with Igbo names and meaning. I know the next line of argument will be cross cultural marriage and what have you? Ask your self why have the people of lagos not begun to name local governments igbo names or why have the Benue people yet to answer igbo names despite their proximity to Enugu Ezike people of Enugu state. I am a strong advocate of right to self determination. However, self-determination is not an excuse for inciting people against the State and others. It is not acceptable anywhere to call for violence. It is unfortunate but Nnamdi Kanu not only broke the law but has made himself by his action a stumbling block to the right to the Biafran struggle for believers of this struggle.

I will strongly advise that patriotic youths consider the noble option that is provided in the UN charter IF they insist on secession. Personally, I believe in equity and justice whether within the political and geographical Nigeria or otherwise. The way and manner Nnamdi Kanu carried his struggle is unacceptable in any sane society. Nigeria is not a zoo
Dear! Stop killing yourself with hypocrisy and self deceit, the man is right in all sense of the civilised world to call Nigeria a zoo. What characteristics of the zoo have you not seen in this country. The enclave called Nigeria today if properly harmonised has the potential of being the most prosperous nation in Africa. Have you seen how the exploited of the Biafrans during the war was suppressed in the alter of tribal sentiment. More over political growth and deliberate denial of the south East and those in the south south access to education. Schools in the East and south south has the highest tuitions fees yet just a hand full are in the top ten universities in Nigeria. Look at the state of the roads leading to the east. They are the worst nightmare an enemy can have. Bro since the end of the civil war, the south south and south East have been marginalised in the recruitment of military and paramilitary personals in this country. Even look at the politics behind state creation in Nigeria, you will seen the evil plot of subsequent regimes which even the new generation of rulers have been reluctant to change. See the way and manner we as a people have begged and lobbied for a second Niger bridge, what do we get deception. Why have the nigerian government refused to dredge the river Niger to fast track business activities in the East or even make functional the port at portharcourt. Do you not see that there is a conspiracy against the Biafrans most especially…? The government have chosen the barcanisation strategy of the Europeans in making sure that the Biafrans remain a divided people. Ask your self............ Why did the federal government offer uwazurike an oil block for him to stop the activities of MASSOB? is that not bribing him to sale his conscience so that he stop telling the truth and exposing the ills of government. Nairaland / General / Please Tell No One! by kelabok(m): 7:27pm On Oct 08, 2015
Known as the dark continent in the days of colonial inquisition, Africa have remained a divided people ever since the Europeans stepped their feet in to our land. Though they taught us some principles, but it seems some aspects of our nature nurture relationship have continued to play a vital role on Daily basis.
One of our primitive attitude is our propensity to divulge secrete once the opportunity presents itself. An average European will go to his grave with a friends secret, but same can not be said of a black man.
I know some people will come at me the moment I drop this write up but I must say that am sorry I did;but am happy I didn't hold back my feelings. Listening to one of the musics by magic system title "secret d'afrique" ( African secret), I was taken by a deep thought of how the message the group passed across affected us all.
They told a story of a young man called Jamie Fred who wanted to travel out but had this very good friend of his that he felt he should share his joy with. He called his friend Tutuya and informed him that he was to travel to France the following day. Please don't tell any one..... Let it just be between us. Tutu on getting home was greeted with a sumptuous meal by his wife. After the marathon, his wife sate by him...... And here comesTutu........ Dear do you know that Fred is going to France tomorrow!? Am happy for him!.
As his wife left the house to buy somethings from the market, she met a good friend of hers and immediately after exchanging pleasantries; there she went with the news and within hours, the whole Street already knew about the proposed travel.
On the day of Fred's travel, the whole Street was there including the native doctor whom he owned.
This is exactly the same thing that happens to us on Dailly basis and yet we do not learn. In life never tell a friend something that you know might back fire with alone of negative implications. Nt:even though sheeps herds together, their prices varies. Think about it

If he fails to sign or communicate to the house as to the reason that necessitated his refusal to do so in 30 working days, the bill will still be passed into law without the presidents signature if 2/3 majority votes in favor of the bill.

Hades is meant for those who believes in the existence of the dantes vision of hell and other Greek mythology. Nigeria as a political landscape is up for a battle of wit and influence peddling as never before. I now see people playing politics like machete macheveli envisaged. But am watching to see between these two gladiator who will out wit the other. But the truth be told, I admire the political prowes exhibited by Saraki. This is like a game of chess so you never laugh until the game is won........ But for now Saraki is the pace setter.
