Thanks for the information that SUBSIDY still happens, thanks for that information. I know PEF have been abolished but I was confused when DANGOTE was mentioning falsification of figures about PMS consumption repeatedly. He said the pms importers and Ally in government have been inflating figures. I have been wondering about what concerns Government, Nigerians and DANGOTE with figures since no payment is based on the figures and no subsidy on FOREX for essential commodities and no CRUDE OIL Swapping Deals again.

During JONATHAN Government when crude oil was above $110 per barrel. 1. Subsidy was been paid 2. CRUDE OIL Swapping Deals was on. My personal friend worked with a popular downstream oil company at Lekki Phase 1 as Bunkering Superintendent. Wallahi, it was deal galore. Everyday at that company was like CHRISTMAS. It seems the external Caterers that supply Lunch foods always prepared for visitors. The environment was always in festive mood with every staff happy celebrating one thing or the other. I always took time to visit my friend whenever I visit Lekki provided he is not at Apapa Jetty.

Few months after BUHARI came, I visited, the place had changed. It was like a mourning period. The deals have stopped and their company listed among companies being investigated by EFCC. They complained that companies with very strong interest in Buhari Government are still enjoying the subsidy and other deals. They said they are being victimized because their Chairman's wife is Mama Peace Jonathan personal friend.

..Every government in power has kitchen cabinet and those they favor. The current government granted some licence to import to some of their cronies.. even when it was clear that we have a local refinery that can meet local need. Now Dangote is forced to export its petrol in order to sell, while some groups backed by the government take our scarce foreign exchange to import.. same people would submit the import bill to the government and claim they sell below the cost price to meet set market price.. Government would tell you no Subsidy provision in the budget but they would go behind and pay those people and call it Under-Recovery. The malfeasance and corruption in that sector is scary..

Two things make importation attractive, the prospect of claiming subsidy or Under-Recovery claims like i mentioned earlier and the fact that the fuel being imported are mostly blended cheap fuel and these same guys own some of these blended plants in other parts of the world. Most countries won't take this kind of fuel but Nigeria where anything goes has a ready market due to poor or easily compromised regulatory authorities.. these are the monsters and saboteurs Dangote fight on a daily.

Are there other payments Government is paying based daily consumption? I am aware Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF) makes payment for bridging gap. What are the other things that can cause falsification of figures?

This is the reason they are against DANGOTE. The Cabals will be against him. Tinubu blocked subsidy, DANGOTE wanted to close loopholes.

PEF has since been abolished. It was introduced to ensure uniform price of fuel across the country. That too was abused by our people as usual.. that's why you see price increase as you move Northwards..

There are vested interests in high places facilitating this importation business and their only motivation is that they would be able to claim subsidy on false importation figure not necessarily because the importation is so profitable.. yes subsidy still happens through the backdoor..

they do all these things and give us the reports later. That's how Government is run in Nigeria. Remember the ways and means?!

Brotherly, you are right to an extent! But I would like to add security to your list. Because without a coordinated security architecture in place to self guard the local farmers producing food in the country, the other two points you made may not work effectively.

The security issue would need a holistic approach like a Constitution tweaking.. I personally believe community policing is the way forward.. some call it state police.. if that is adopted today, the size of the police force alone would triple in an instant.. that would mean more boots on the ground to police our numerous ungoverned spaces around the country. It would also eliminate this current using a third of the police force to guard private privileged citizens.. more like a more responsible and accountable policing..

But those who should facilitate all of these are more interested in continually controlling the Federal Police against their next election..

It s a sad situation.. Citizens shouldn't go through all of these..

It is actually the other way round? Imported fuel (and other imports too) are putting pressure on the exchange rate.

This country is still fuel import dependent. It doesn't make sense but it is what it is.

Oil products (over three trillion Naira as at the end of first quarter of 2025) are still the second largest import category in this country. Our runaway inflation and the pressure on the Naira are not going anywhere - as long as we have this kind of upside down economy.

The people at the helm of affairs have vested interest in fuel importation.. the C-in-C and co have vested interest in Oando and co continuously importing blended fuel from Malta into the country for very obvious reasons that we all know.. they have ready market in NNPC retails to sell the fuel at any prices they bring these fuels.. Dangote is still fighting those licensed importation cartels on a daily... these are the problems they have put the entire country into.. then they turn around with rhetorics in the media like they don't know why things are hard for the average citizen..

Nobody criticised the kneeling by some of the falcon players.. neither did anyone attach them for it
