Crime / Ondo Election Has Been Rigged In Advance, Fayose Alleges by kelvee(m): 11:01am On Oct 29, 2016
Ado Ekiti-Governor Ayodele Fayose, has described the recognition of Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 26 governorship poll in Ondo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as dangerous to democracy.
Fayose who said the action of INEC was an indication that the Ondo State governorship election has been rigged in advance by the All Progressive Congress.
Accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) of turning the INEC into its department and willing tool that can be deployed at will to manipulate election in advance, Fayose said recognising someone who did not emerge through any known electoral process signalled the end of democracy in the country.
INEC had on Thursday published the names of governorship candidates and their parties in Ondo, where it replaced the name of Mr Eyitayo Jegede from the Ahmed Makarfi’s faction and replaced with Ibrahim, who emanated from Ali Modu Sheriff faction.
At a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Fayose said the recognition granted Ibrahim had further confirmed his fear that the APC had the intention of turning the country into a one-party state.
Fuming over the controversy, Fayose said: “The question to ask INEC is; having accepted the candidate presented by the Malkarfi-led PDP National Caretaker Committee for the Edo State election, relying on the judgment of the Federal High Court, Port-Harcourt, despite the
Abuja Federal High Court order at that time, what has changed? Obviously, it is either INEC is playing double-standard or has descended into the arena.
“With the development in Ondo Guber election and the decision of the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), it is clear that
INEC is a department in APC led federal government. By this development also, I am vindicated that other political parties and stakeholders are now contesting election against INEC.
“Obviously, INEC at every election adopts new strategy to procure undue victory for the APC and it appears that the agenda to turn Nigeria to a one-party state is daily being ruthlessly pursued by these elements not minding if democracy and our country are destroyed”.
Fayose contended that with the alleged desperation of the APC cabal and its INEC collaborators, that Nigeria and Nigerians face a serious hopelessness, adding that he was convinced that the future is bleak if nothing is done to stop this monster.
He said he had earlier warned that the present APC-led federal government will muzzle all sectors , including the judiciary and electoral commission and that his prediction is gradually coming to the fore.
“ I have warned and I am still warning that there is danger ahead in all sectors, especially the economy, health, security, and most importantly, the electoral process.
“However, I must say that I am not disappointed but it will be and remain on record that I warned Nigerians.
“Also, Nigerians should be reminded of how the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) tried in 1983 to annexed all States in Nigeria to itself by turning the then Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO) to an arm of the party. Result of the NPN’s rape on our democracy was the collapse of democracy then.
“The question is; who will save Nigeria from this tyranny and dictatorship? The way these people are going, Nigerians may wake up into the suspension of the National Assembly and the Constitution
sooner than later. Even democratic structures in the 36 States might
not be spared”.
Fayose said with INEC alleged biased disposition that it is evidently clear that the judiciary has been badly muzzled and harassed to
submission.
He called on the progressives to be courageous enough to rise against this perceived unabated impunity, saying they would realise that no one will be spared the moment this emerging fascism is left unchallenged.

Religion / Winners Pastors Fight Dirty In Lagos Over N16.5m Church Land Commission by kelvee(m): 6:55am On Oct 29, 2016
Three Pastors of the Living Faith Church also known as Winners Chapel at Isheri Olofin area of Lagos state are engrossed in serious fight over the sharing of N16.5m realized from the purchase of some parcel of land and property by the church in Lagos.

The fight which was said to have started from the church premises has now moved to the Lagos court where the parties are seeking justice.

The three pastors in the matter are Deacon Dolire Oluwaniyi who is also an estate agent on the one hand and two other Pastors, Edwin Iky and Peter O. Odama on the other hand. The last two acted on behalf of the church over the purchase of the property.

In the suit before Magistrate’s court sitting in Ogba, with suit number, MIK/4174/16, Deacon Oluwaniyi stated that the two pastors cheated him after they collected N140m from their General Overseer, Bishop David Oyedapo and paid N130m to the owner of the property.

Apart from that, Deacon Oluwaniyi also stated that as the agent who linked the church to the owner of the property, he was entitled to N6.5 million commission which was also paid by the church but was shared between the two pastors and he was not given a dime.

Following the alleged scam, the claimant dragged the church to the court seeking an order that he should be paid his commission as a registered agent with his company’s name, Bedek properties that facilitated the transaction.
In his affidavit in support of the claim, the claimant stated that his company wrote to the church introducing the properties which contain two big church halls and a story building on one acre of land located at Iyana Odo, along Igando road in Sheri Olofin area.

He stated that he was contacted through the pastors and he linked the church to the owner of the property, one Bishop Emmanuel Omobajesu.
The claimant said after the payment for the property he demanded for his commission and the two pastors asked him to bear it as seed to the church where as they had already collected the money from the church.

The claimant also stated that the pastors involved in the transaction are not honest and sincere as they both ate with both hands and thereby soiled their hands in the transaction.
In response, the defendant under the registered trustee of the church stated that the claimant was not appointed as its agent, legal representative nor hold any partnership and did not authorise the claimant to act on behalf of the defendant.

It also stated that the claimant have no locus standi to sue the defendant as regard the property and demanding N6.5m agency commission.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O Osinbajo has adjourned the matter till 23 November, 2016, to deliver rulings on the motions filed by the parties.

Politics / Buhari Will Surprise Nigerians In 2017 – Trade Minister by kelvee(m): 6:35am On Oct 26, 2016
ABEOKUTA —The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enalamah, yesterday, said the results of the efforts by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will surprise Nigerians in 2017.

The minister, who was in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital spoke with newsmen at the 8th Session of the National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment.

Enalamah said the Federal government is strifing to end the current economic recession.
He said:”You will start seeing result at the end of this year and early next year. As far as I am concerned, next year is a year of results. All the work we are doing will start yielding results from this quarter.

“The level of delivery in 2017 will suprise everybody. People may be saying we are not doing anything but it is impossible for a man to start broadcasting a plan we haven’t really put together well.”

The Minister however, stated that the strategic focus of the ministry’s master plan for Diversification and Growth of the Nigerian Economy is: “Partnering with Private and Development Capital to Leverage and Catalyze Resources for diversification and growth.”
According to the Minister, ”The challenge in every economy is that of infinite demands and finite resources. With limited resources therefore, the Diversification and Growth plan, otherwise known as the MITI Plan is based on a partnership with the private sector.”

He emphasized that based on resource constraints and low price of commodities, including oil, it is an urgent necessity to partner with the private sector so as to leverage and catalyse resources and development capital.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of the Presidential Council on Ease-of Doing Business (PEBES). We, as Nigerians, must see the connection. The global perception is that this country is a tough environment in which to do business. We must change this negative perception. Positive perceptions will attract investors, capital, technology and best practices.
Enelamah explained that already, we are seeing results of these efforts at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), a parastatal under the Ministry, with the 24-hour online registration of businesses.

Health / Baby Girl Born Twice In Texas by kelvee(m): 6:52am On Oct 25, 2016
A baby girl from Lewisville, Texas, has been “born” for the second time after she was taken out of her mother’s womb for 20 minutes for life-saving surgery, the BBC reports.

The baby was removed from the womb at just four months old for the 20 minutes operation after which she was put back in the womb.
At 16 weeks pregnant, Margaret Hawkins Boemer discovered her daughter, Lynlee Hope, had a tumour on her spine.
Baby Lynlee weighed just 1lb 3oz (0.53kg) when surgeons opened the womb.
The tumour, known as a ‘sacrococcygeal teratoma’, was diverting blood from the foetus, risking a fatal heart failure.
Mrs Boemer had originally been expecting twins, but lost one of her babies before the second trimester.
She was initially advised to terminate her pregnancy entirely before doctors at Texas Children’s Fetal Center suggested the risky surgery.
The tumour and the unborn baby were almost the same size by the time the operation was performed. Lynlee was given a 50% chance of survival.
Mrs Boemer told CNN: “At 23 weeks, the tumour was shutting her heart down and causing her to go into cardiac failure, so it was a choice of allowing the tumour to take over her body or giving her a chance at life.
“It was an easy decision for us: We wanted to give her life.”
‘Her heart stopped’
Doctor Darrell Cass of Texas Children’s Fetal Centre was one of the team who carried out the surgery.
He said the tumour had been so large that a “huge” incision was required to reach it, leaving the baby “hanging out in the air”.
Lynlee’s heart virtually stopped during the procedure but a heart specialist kept her alive while most of the tumour was removed, he added.
The team then placed her back in her mother’s womb and sewed her uterus up.

Mrs Boemer spent the next 12 Weeks on bedrest, and Lynlee entered the world for the second time on 6 June.
She was born via Caesarean at almost full term, weighing 5Ib and 5oz, and named after both of her grandmothers.
When Lynlee was eight days old, a further operation helped remove the rest of the tumour from her tailbone.
