@Kelvin96,
I've not heard of embacerly b4 . can I get it from a vet store.
Yes most vet stores has it. Embaceryl and Embazin forte are from the same company

But I thought Embaceryl contains tylosin? It also contains vitamins. When giving any antibiotic, I always combine them with a multivit, if not there will be a drop in production or growth.
Yes it has tylosin, but with some vitamins that is compatible with each other.
If i decides to give tylosin on its own accompany with any vitamins to my laying birds, how do i tell the mixing ratio between the two? or will i just take some amount of the vitamin and add to the tylosin? for me(My own view) i think it is a gamble. when your birds are at their peak and you gamble with them, the result might not be good. But for embaceryl , it has been well prepared for the that purpose.
So i prefer using embaceryl than mixing tylosin with vitamins on laying birds.....Or i might risk using anitylodox (Anidoxityle)

My last batch of birds were prone to crd and to prevent frequent illness, I have to give tylodox every month. And I did not record any drop or ceasation of egg production. Even u can mix it in feed (@ preventive dose) to prevent crd as shown here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/471896/. The drug that shud not be given to layers are sulfa-based drugs.
Hmmm.....Good to hear it worked for you, bro I read that same article before i treated mine three years back, and i regretted doing it... i cant try it on my laying birds again. I did it once, twice and it wrecked my production. I only use tylosin few weeks to POl. And if i happen to come across CRD in my laying flock i just use embacerly.

Why do you say that? I used it for mine to treat crd and that's what lab result recommended.
yes definately it will take care of the crd....if d birds are laying, it will crash the production, and it will take a very long time before they can bounce back, that is if they ve not gone far in their laying circle . And for pol, it delays them from laying on time.
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by kelvin96: 11:47pm On May 20, 2015
Kbc 10
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by kelvin96: 11:42pm On May 20, 2015
Juliana7:
@kelvin, what did u mix with kbc(koudjis broiler concentrate) to get a balanced feed for d broiler just like what akaytopsy did for layers, which he posted in d previous post. Thanks
grownaira:
Oga kelvin, which one be galdus pls?
And when u said 2Kg, u mean live weight or dressed?
As regard how to mix the KBC 10,

Starter 0 - 17 days; KBC10 125 kg, maize 600 kg, soya meal 275 kg.

Grower 17 - 37 days; KBC10 100 kg, maize 650 kg, soya meal 250 kg

Finisher after 37 days; KBC10 80 kg, maize 695 kg, soya meal 225 kg.

There is another one called kbc30

Starter
Maize: 650
kbc30: 350

Finisher: 650
Kbc30: 300
Wheat Offal: 50

And for Galdus , it is a prestarter feed directly from holland, made by koudijs.
It helps the birds builds their digestive trait.
You can read more about it here
http://www.koudijs.deheus.com/feed-solutions/poultry/day-old-chicks

@grownaira, the 2kg i talked about is live weight.

AkayTopsy:
@omotititi and eggxel you're welcome.

Thanx grownaira. if mixing E.S.T Mix with the feed is as effective as mixing it in their water then it isreally COST EFFECTIVE using the feed bro.

@Kelvin96 what's your experience with Koudjis Concentrate pls.
The best i have seen so far..... For broilers, i can get 2kg for 6 weeks birds, but i have to start them with galdus, for the first seven days.
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by kelvin96: 7:33pm On May 20, 2015

Yes you can use it for them.

What do you do when you discover that your point of lay birds have CRD? most of the time it leads to early lay mortality and it is very difficult to treat. which kind of medication can help you through this phase as I have used tylosin based drug, enrofloxacin and the situation just persist.
You really dont have to wait for them to fall down before treating them. if i were you i will use tylosin or tylodox for them when they are 10-12 weeks ...Please dont use tylosin for laying birds or for POL birds

Thank you AkayTopsy. I will check their website and get a contact number to call. I appreciate.

AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by kelvin96: 2:19pm On May 19, 2015
For those of us picking birds(broilers) from zartech farms, i think what we should watch out for is CRD. And the only way you can do tackle this CRD issue , is adhere to their Medication program.
I happen to have one of their program ...This program was given to me by Ziad (He was incharge of the benin Branch) But i think he has been replaced.

Day 1-5 ......Tylosin +vitamin+Enrofloxacin
Day 7-11.....Furaltadone(Dose- 1gram to 5liter)
Day 21-23...Tylosin +Vitamin+Enrofloxacin or Ciprofoxacin
And please no feed for the broilers for the first 3 hours, only water and drugs.

I have been using this program alongside the program my vet gave to me, that one has the vaccination schedule on it and CRD has been a thing of the past in my broilers.
And for those guys who pick birds from other hacteries, i think u can still use dis as a guide. Sometimes when i pick birds from other hacteries, what i do is very simple.....I use my normal program, but at day 6 to 9 i use tylosin and enrofloxacin for them, them after 2weeks i repeat same treatment again....And CRD will never come back, as long as you dont overcrowd them or dent them proper ventilation....

Good afternoon house (my elders). I stumbled upon this awesome, educative thread a couple weeks back and I have really been inspired by the great nigerian minds here........the likes of jamp, obnelly, oga fnk, davidzfarm, omotiti, Rzq4, steel5800, Farmtech, laposte, AkayTopsy, kelvin96, valarinz, and all........u guys are really changing lives positively; how u have impacted knowledge and provided mentorship to many like me via this thread, is laudable, and highly commendable; such selfless service to humanity.
Having read every single page on the thread upto the 127th, I deemed it necessary to post for the first time and say a big thank you guys. Two weeks ago I knew absolutely nothing about running a poultry farm (even though iv always incubated plans of setting up one). Iv learnt quite alot but I also know the experience on the farm is a different kettle of fish smiley.
I intend setting up in a couple of weeks; I would be finalizing agreements on the land im purchasing for the farm. Its 5 plots (each plot is 100 by 100). As a newbie, I intend to start small with 500 birds at point of lay and grow from there hopefully. I will kip d house updated with my progress viz-a-viz building d coop, acquiring battery cages et al.
More grease to your elbows guys.......more like more eggs to your crates. Cheers.
Welcome to our world . I wish you all the best .

well ur market determine how u raise ur broilers, are u selling live wt. or kilo wt. whichever one it is u dont need any fattener bc it adds to cost of prodx with little or no added value. if ur birds are well fed i.e feeding ad libitum with regular supply of water, they will do well insha Allah. avoid switching from one feed to another, if vital stay with vital till slaughter, if amo stay wt amo till slaughter. ogas in the house more contributions pls.
your are absolutely right.

#3000/carton?! How come? White cockrels often cost #15 each & the black, #30/one. Since when does a carton of 50 DOCs sold for 3k? While I don't have significant experience in cockrels rearing, I can submit that one differently I've seen between the black & white variant is that demand for the former is much higher. Success.
yes u nailed it.....the demands for black is higher.
