Any March Applicant please? My application was submitted on March 22 and till now no medical notification( most of the time I got ghost updates) is it that my application will be refused?
Hello sunkymatete,

The ghost updates ( Application/Profile Update) means that your file is being touched by officer(s). So even though you're not seeing any physical change, background work is going on without being updated on your portal.

It does not mean a refusal ok. It means they are working on your application.

Hello Everyone,

Gcms just dropped.. what does this mean pls?
Hello Papapa1234,

A Junior officer has reviewed your application with likely positive review but has passed it to a senior officer who will do the final review, which can go either way. But then, there is a due date attached to it (though sometimes, they don't really go with that due date), if you haven't done medicals and the senior officer deems your application eligible, you will be getting a medical request. But if you had already done a medical, then PPR will be on the way.

Wish you all the best. It shall end in praises.

Dear Gurus in the house @Makano, Justmellow, Lekiboboe, Anon123, Ketima, ShowYoung, Omiinii et al.

Please, kindly advise me on how best to handle this dicey situation I've found myself in, so as to avoid any regrets resulting from it along the line. I have two ongoing study permit applications at the moment. In the first application, I mistakenly uploaded a document which I had reviewed for a friend who was applying for admission to a school in Canada. Immediately I noticed that mistake, I clicked on the button provided for change of documents in the application form and uploaded the intended documents—which I confirmed as having been uploaded thereafter. Then, I proceeded with the payment for my application fee. Surprisingly, it was the document I had uploaded in error that appeared in the summary of my submitted application, even though I had replaced it with the very one I had in mind prior to the final submission of my application. Following this incident, I raised a web form immediately to explain in detail what had happened, and also attached the appropriate document along with it.

However, I was very worried about the whole thing; so, I shared my ugly experience on this platform for guidance and some pieces of advice on how best to handle the situation. Honorable Omiinii felt my pain advised me to withdraw the affected application and submit a fresh one to avoid any story, while Justmellow offered some clarifications to my inquiry about the possibility of submitting a fresh application. Hence I sent in my withdrawal request via web form to IRCC immediately—that was in less than 24hrs of submitting the said application. Two days later, I got this acknowledgement email from IRCC regarding my withdrawal request: "A note has been added on file to notify the responsible office that you wish to withdraw your application. The office will determine if the application can be withdrawn and will issue a refund within 16 weeks of the withdrawal, if applicable."

I logged in to my account two days ago to find out that reviews on eligibility and medical results (the medicals I did last year, which expired on the 10th of May 2022) have commenced on the same application whose withdrawal request I had already submitted to IRCC. On waking up this morning, I checked my email and found out that I have a message waiting for me on my application portal regarding the same application. I quickly logged in to my account and saw a medical request from IRCC. Meanwhile, my second application is undergoing the review of my medical results at the moment because I had my upfront medical examinations last week. I am currently at a crossroads and also caught in the web of indecision!

Please, is it normal to see such review on eligibility and to receive a medical request on an application whose withdrawal request was submitted within 24hrs of applying for it? I would be very grateful if you could find some time to go through my message here and guide me properly.

Kindest regards.
Hello Onaya,

So sorry about this situation. The deed is already done. Had i seen it, wouldn't have adviced you on withdrawal. Webform and mail has always helped in updating document's wrongly uploaded/replacement.

Now note that so long as you initiated a withdrawal command on the said application without a counter decision, all that you may be noticing are just a chain reactions of the command initiated and may not necessarily mean that they are working on that your particular application.

Nevertheless, write a mail (or LOE) and explain in details the situation of things. What you're noticing in that said account, reminding them of your withdrawal request and why it was withdrawn. The new application initiated and why it was initiated.

Don't panic ok. Canada is a country were communication works. So get in touch with then in writing.

Wishing you the best ok.

That's my little opinion

Hello everyone,

Quick one pls.

Do I need a swift code directly from the school to apply for form A (sending to Flywire, then they send to school on my behalf )

On the Form A application, the part that has the Bank account details and then correspondence bank name, is it flywire i’m supposed to fill there or my school details ?

Pls note that my school dint give any account details except a link to pay through flywire .
Hello,

The account details to be used or inputted is the one generated by flywire. Immediately the money reaches flywire which you can monitor via the flywire app, the funds will subsequently be sent to your school between 1-2 business day.

Note: This is based on experience with University of Saskatchewan. Maybe you should find out from your school if it's different.

Hello Everyone,

I got admitted into university of saskatchewan, resuming this fall, I Already got my TRV and study permit.

I don't know how to go about securing an apartment and payment of TUITION using Form A, i was directed to Flywire with a very high exchange rate.

Please is anyone here already in University of SASKATCHEWAN or knows any info about the subject, i would really appreciate your quidiance on how to get settled in and give me a well structured financial plan.

Please, How can i use form A to make payment for University of Saskatchewan.
Yes, you can pay using from A. All you need is download flywire app, create your account and choose your school and get the required account details generated by flywire for your school. A ticket number ( Unique number) will be created for that particular transaction. That ticket number is so important that it must be included in the form A. Once the fund goes through, flywire will be credited which will inturn credit your fund to university of Saskatchewan.

Note: I did mine when it was hardcopy form A filled in the bank. Now it's online form A, but I feel it should be the same process.

For living in Saskatchewan, you may need to ask the question in living in Canada thread.

Please don't panic and don't be in too hurry. If you panic, you may end up making mistake and end up uploading wrong document.

Hello Ayo,

As regards the bolded, is funny though but then, is up to you, you start when you want to start. But then again, you have to be specific with your question so that you get a specific answer.

Application for January 2023 intake is well ongoing and few May 2023 have started as well.

For Fall 2023 if thesis based, this is time to start to reach out to potential supervisors.

For January 2024 and above, not yet started.

Hello guys .

Please quick one.
I want to pay tuition and I have 5k USD(in US) , should I send it and change it to naira via black market rate at 595 2,975,000 and request for form A to pay to the school. At CBN rate 323 , I’ll be able to pay up to $8,000CAD in tuition with this money.

Or I should just ask the sender to pay directly to the school from US which would be 6,000 CAD .

The school dint give a deadline but I want to submit my application by next week.

I can upload it via webform .

But with the whole form A wahala , what if it doesn’t work ?
I don’t want to be stuck halfway and have to use fly wire at the end of the day thereby paying ridiculous rate .

Pls what do you guys advice .
Hello Uzoamaka,

The bolded is a wise idea, don't waste your dollar by paying tuition using your dollar when you can make use of CBN form A at a cheaper rate. You have already done the maths to know the difference. So go with your plan.

Hello Nitand2,

I want to ask you a simple question and I want you to be truthful. Did you use a fraudulent(doctored/forged) account statement?

Cos if you did, then there is nothing that can be done. And it won't be refusal unless the VO wants to be lenient. what you got is a procedural fairness letter (PFL) which precedes a ban for misrepresentation.

Hello @Ketima

As someone who has criminal record in the UK around 2012/2013 and also denied US visa 2 twice (was going for a conference) in 2015 and can't remember the reason VO gave for that, I think the VO just said not qualified at the time or so. Now my wife is about to apply for her student visa for September 2022 intake and I'm joining for SOWP, what chances do we have and how do I declare this, I read someone wrote he was in the same predicament as mine, 10 years bank and 5 year jail time but still got PPR and even mentioned you as helping them. Can you advice please? I'm having sleepless nights.
Hello Zmande,

Sometime ago, I had someone who had criminal record in another country but applied to Canada for study and was approved.

Now, kindly send the criminal record via mail as I wouldn't want you to share your case in a public forum. Also you have to furnish us with the reason for your US visa refusal. We don't work on assumptions and speculations. That will guide me in giving you a concrete answer.

But then, as it your spouse who is going for the studies, after experiencing what spouses go through in getting their SOWP after their spouses have landed in Canada, I now encourage people to put their application together provided they can provide concrete and convincing application to show that they have enough home ties and economic ties to Nigeria that will make them to return back. But as your case is, I would advice your wife to apply alone, while you apply later for SOWP when she must have settled in Canada.

That's my little intake Zmande.
It is just a temporary delay and not a denial.
All the best.

Hello Family,

Please I’ll love to get clarity on a few things as I’m currently working on my SOP .

What can someone that is single without immediate family in Nigeria use as home ties?

Mother, brother and sister all reside in the US. (Legally)

Can I use my mum’s lands as home ties? Like 2 lands? And state that I help her manage the properties or what exactly should I write.

Also, I have an online fashion business with 200-300k monthly as profit.
Can I add this as home ties?

Lastly ,
Elder brother is my sponsor . He’s single(no wife or child ) , my tuition is 30k cad for 2 years .
10k cad yearly for living expenses

Can he show exactly 40k and show proof of good job to pay the rest?
Hello Uzoamaka,

Home tie isn't just only family and for the fact that you're entire family is in USA, you can use that to your advantage.

Let me give you question you can answer that will help you take your family in USA as advantage.

1). All my(you) family is in the USA but I have chosen to go study in Canada when USA could have been easy for me to stay back after after studies. Elaborate on this. Think deep on this and come up with answers that will act in your favor to portray you just want to come to Canada, study and go back.

2). How long have your family been in the USA and only you in Nigeria? Use this to link to your business and prove why you have stayed back in Nigeria to promote and grow your business and that of your family(if any).

For family ties, do your brother, family have business in Nigeria or properties that you can say you manage for them in their absence? Be creative in your application ok.

Other home ties includes, job/work ties, businesses, assets and investment, professional organization tie ( are you member of a group, expecially in your area of study, religion group( though considered of less weight but it helps too), non governmental voluntary organization like red cross, rotary etc.

So add all that will prove you have an economic/financial ties to your country that will warrant you to come back home.

For your brother(sponsor), you have to add his pay studs, employment letter and all related to his job to show his weekly/monthly income which will enable the VO understand he can actually support your Studies.

That's my little opinion. Let gurus in the house advice you the more.

Pls what do I do in this situation esp if my Study permit doesmt arrive before May session starts..

Pls I need your opinion and advise..

Thank you
Hello Papapa,

What do you mean by the bolded? You may need to explain that for better understanding.

Nevertheless, to avoid last minute rush you can defer to January if you get a nod from your school that you can differ to January. Many I know here got theirs last year Sept and they deferred to this year Sept. And they're waiting, taking their time to plan their movement.

So in a nutshell, if you won't regret differing your admission when PPR comes just after differing, then go ahead when you school gives a nod.

Thank you so much. Your feedback has bee very helpful.

[Qa] Yes, brother A is married with two kids, all under 5 years old. Its CAD 60,000 at the moment but you know money comes in all the time. I don’t know how much is in his personal bank account, remember it’s his company account I am using. I imagine his personal account handles his family expenses. Should I include his personal bank statement?

[Qb] Yes, I have paid CAD 10,000 to the school. That will reduce the first year tuition. Let me do the breakdown again:

Tuition is CAD 18,000 minus CAD 10,000 already paid = CAD 8,000 balance first year

Living expenses is CAD 10,000 a year
Miscellaneous is CAD 2,000 a year
Total for one year is 8,000 + 10,000 + 2,000 = CAD 20,000, and CAD 30,000 second year.
GRAND TOTAL OF CAD 50,000 for the duration of the program.

[2] About the second sponsor, I will tell him to just give me the money upfront through my Brother A. I will remove him from the application.

[3] My intent is not to hide or misrepresent facts, it’s just not to have too many things in my application. However, if its okay to add that part, I will add it. That’s not a problem. So to add this part, the side hustle and my account statement, I should ask Brother B to bring his company documents and company statement of account right?
Hello Filanodivine,

Your application is just a straight forward thing, but you're making it give you headache. I know you want an tight application and that is awesome, but don't allow that now make you add irrelevant things and remove relevant things.

First, what will/is your brother B company documents and account be doing in your application if he isn't your Sponsor and you didn't mention him in your SOP?

As for your brother A who is your Sponsor, it is your duty to explain and prove to the VO that he has other means(money in other accounts) that he will be using to take care of his family. That the CAD$60K isn't just the only money he has. That means you have to show where the funds to take care of his family is domiciled. Remember, anything you say, please back it up with proof. If you say be has money in another account to take care of his family, you need to back it up by submitting the said account details as well as show of proof.

Lastly, don't over think of perfection or perfect application. No application is ever perfect. Your prayer should be that the VO that will be assigned your application be the liberal type and not the harsh akpo type. Cos if a near perfect application meets an akpo VO, it can easily be refused and if a poorly arranged application meets a nice VO, it can easily be approved.

All the best

Filanodivine:
Please can you all look at this breakdown before I submit.

Tuition is CAD 18,000 a year

Living expenses is CAD 10,000 a year

Miscellaneous is CAD 2,000 a year

Total for one year is 18,000 + 10,000 + 2,000 = CAD 30,000

Its for a 2-year postgraduate program. I finished university two years ago and just completed NYSC. I am single in my 20s.

Me – I am doing two side hustles. The first is the family business. I was assisting Brother A who runs this business. I used to receive stipend but no more because I moved on to another side hustle which I am doing currently. The second side hustle is with Brother B, he deals in office supplies. For this one, I receive some payment into my account from customers and also my stipend.

Proof of funds –

[1] Primary sponsor. I am using brother A because he is in charge of family business and owns his own company. I am using his own company statement of account. N20milllion balance = CAD 60,000 (but enough turnover each month).

[2] I do not intend to mention Brother B and this second side hustle in my application because Brother A has already stepped in.

[3] Secondary sponsor is my brother in-law. He is a businessman, we are quite close and he wants to help me further my studies. I am using his own company statement of account. N27 million balance = CAD 80,000 (but high turnover of hundreds of millions each month).

[4] Not sure about using my bank account which reflects payments from the second side hustle with Brother B. This account has a balance of N1.1 million = CAD 3,000(with over up to 4-8millions turnover per month)

NB: Also adding our family house (not my property sha) as an asset.

Home ties – I am coming back to fully join Brother A in running the family business, he needs someone to assist him with the family business because he has his own company too to manage. I actually like the family business remember I was involved before. I moved to the second side hustle with brother B because I changed location.

My question – What do you think about my proof of funds, and being company accounts? Should I add my own personal account – my issue with this is that it shows payments from the second side hustles which I didn’t include in my application. What about using a family house as an asset? How is my home ties? I would appreciate any feedback.
Hello Filanodivine,

My inputs

1). From your money statement, your total cost per year is CAD$30,000. Being a 2yeae course, you're looking at roughly CAD$60,000 max, which is exactly what your brother has in his account.

Qa). Is your brother A married with kids to take care of. Is not about him showing funds in his account only but also how can he use all the money in his account to fund your education to the detriment of his own immediate family upkeep and welfare.
Qb). Have you made any Financial commitment like tuition payment, GIC etc?

The reason I asked the above question is the cost of your studies is relatively exactly the total amount in your brother's account. So if you have made some payments to the school, that will help in a way to show commitment to actually want to study and also show that the 60k in your brother account will be sufficient.

2) As regards your in-law wanting to help, I would advice let him send sum funds to your brother A account. Your brother A account is used to lumpsum so explaining the source of lumpsum won't be an issue. So in a nutshell, scrap the idea of sponsor 2(in-law). Let him send the fund to your brother A, so he can act as sole sposnor.

3). Why would you want to hide an account that has 1.1 million because you don't want to show your account. You want to prove to VO that you're established but at the other hand still hiding things that will show that you're established in your home country. You need to come out clean and truthful to the VO. If you hide your work and account details from VO and he/she now asks for updated SOA, how then will you tackle it when initially you had submitted and omitted the info intentionally.

Misrepresentation is real oo. Play safe. One thing about hiding info is you better have backup plan that will always not backfire.

You have good home and economic ties. Just work on them properly in your SOP and you're good to go.

Please Gurus this is what my GCnotes says... please help me to interpret it

Taking the applicants plan of studies into account, 1st concern) the documentation provided in support of the applicant financial situation does not demonstrate that funds would be sufficient or available. I am not satisfied that the proposed studies would be reasonable expense.

2nd concern) The source of funds is poorly documented and there is no evidence provided showing how financial sponsor/PA came to accumulate savings. Taking the applicants purpose of visit into account, 3rd concern) the applicants does not appear to be sufficiently well established that the proposed visit would be a reasonable expense. The applicant has not satisfied me that they have sufficient economic stability, which may affect their departure from CDA, 4th concern) I am not satisfied that the PA has sufficient funds to support themselves (tuition, living expenses, transportation etc) given the proposed length of stay without working in CDA.

Based on the documents provided by the PA/Sponsor, 5th concern) I am not satisfied that the PA will have a sufficient inflow of funds for studies or a reasonable source of income to support the proof of funds that was provided

I am not satisfied that the applicant would leave Canada at the end of their stay as a temporary resident, I note that:

6th concern)The client is single, mobile is not well established and has no dependents

Weighing the factors in this application. I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay

For this reasons above, I have refused this application
Hello Mirakylie,

Sorry for your refusal. Now is obvious that your SOP was more of story telling than addressing various subheadings of an SOP. Because is obvious your PURPOSE OF STUDY to PROOF OF FUND to WHY THE COURSE to FAMILY and SOCIO-ECONOMIC TIES to FUTURE GOALS were not properly written as such, it was easy for the VO who may be angry at that moment to use vex to reject you with all these reasons. Lol

1st concern. The VO pointed that the funds would not be sufficient for your program duration. Now I ask, how many year(s) is your study and who is your sponsor and total amount shown in account?

2nd concern. Source of fund wasn't documented. I guess maybe your funds was full of lumpsum deposits as there is no pathway of inflows that amounted to such ending/closing balance as at printing. Again did you intentionally not submit some vital SOA so as the VO won't see how the funds came about? Applicants are always adviced to avoid lumpsum, but if lumpsums must occur, please do well to explain them and attach proof.

3rd concern. Is the course you're going for an academic or professional progression or change of career path? Or are you going for course below what you already have? Either of them, you have to explain extensively why it, which now forms the purpose of study and how the course will help you as regards to career development.

4th concern. The VO had to even break it down into tuition, living expenses and transportation. This means that your fund isn't sufficient at all. So this boils down to how much you showed as if you did make any commitments by paying Tuition (deposit or a year) payment.

5th concern. This is still about POF. You really need to work on it. Guess here in where I ask if an agent did your application for you? And as they usually do, will just drop a huge lumpsum in an account and use it as POF?

6th concern. The icing. You're single, so you have every chance of staying back. Mobile means as a single person, you don't have family commitment that will likely bring you back and most obviously, not well established. Here I ask, as you're single without family ties, what socio- economic ties you have to Nigeria? Things like Investments, shares, assets, ties to organizational body, religious body etc.

Thanks God for the GCMS note, now you have an extensive work to do in tackling all these points. It is easy. All you need is be truthful, explain all source of fund, show commitment to study, show the relevance of the course to your future goals. Link them. Prove that you have ties back home that after the studies, you're coming back. Do your work deligently and approval shall knock on your doorstep.

Wishing you the best.

Hello Everyone. I just got my GCMS notes for my old application (Please see attached). I paid 10K GIC and first semester fees. I actually had lump sums in my account that I did not explain (novice at the time).

For the new application I submitted, I paid a full-year fee of 16K + GIC 10K. Now I have 4M left in my account with a closing of 6M. I also worded my SOP showing prospects of my course back home with an LOE explaining my previous lumpsum. I hope this is sufficient.
Yes you're good to go. You have done the needful. Guess your course is 1 year?

I salute everyone oo

To the guru's in the house, una well done

Please am about applying for Visa, I have my transcript and Certificate for first degree but I only have to whom it may concern for my mba. Unfortunately, Assu is on strike and I can't get it now.

Do you think I can proceed with to who it may concern for second degree or I shouldn't even disclose at all for my visa?

Thanks
Hello,

Don't you have your degree certificate of your MBA too? If you do and only left with just the transcript. You can create a subheading as to why apply without MBA transcript. There just explain why MBA details isnt included. Then you can attach the to whom it may concern. My opinion though

Note that we have seen people who even applied without transcript and got approval. With my years in this study route, have noticed comments of VO as regards to rejection of study visa due to poor grade to pursue this study even after school have given such a student visa. But that's mostly indian applicants which can only show that VO's do sometimes check the transcript.

Have it in mind that that IRCC is well aware that Nigerian education is on hold, that many students won't have access to their academic credentials at the moment. But is good to show that you have made efforts in getting it sorted out of which the TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN will now show that you actually have the degree and have concluded and passed it.

All the best.

Good day house
Please I need your contribution, I am an orphan with no siblings and I would like my immediate family(husband and kids) to travel with me on a study visa, how do I prove my family ties
I work at a travel agency and I also have a registered business.
Kindly advise
Hello Dressmeup,

You're actually planning to go with the only family tie you have back home. Is not that is it not possible to get approved if all applied, but would suggest let hubby stay behind, you now apply with baby as you have not extended family (father, mother, siblings) home ties and use hubby as family ties back home.

But also note that home ties isn't just only about family, it includes Job/work ties, investment ties, professional body ties, non governmental/voluntary work ties to your home country etc. So if you're still applying with family, do well to extensively dwell more on other ties you have in your country.

In a nutshell, what I’m trying to ask is if it’s necessary to include my own statement of account too? When I have my elder brother as main sponsor and my in-law as second sponsor.. need answers please
Hello Filanodivine,

Please I would love to have answered you but just needed to get the following questions;

1). How much fund do you have in your own account?

2). Isn't the fund in your brother's account sufficient enough so he can act as your sole Sponsor? Reason is, when you have a conglomerate of first and 3rd party sposnor to sponsor your application and you're saying that you and your brother runs your family business, still he alone can't sponsor you that a 3rd party is coming in to help. This might trigger the VO to believe that the business isn't well established and is in small scale to warrant you to return back to after your studies. I guess you may have quoted in your SOP that after your studies, you're coming back to your family business. But still the same business can't sposnor you that a 3rd party needs to come in. This Just my own thinking though.

3) How supportive has the 3rd party sposnor been previously? Is this in-law your brother's wife? Can you prove his/her relationship to you and how he or she has helped you out before now. When a 3rd party sponsor is involved, you need air tight explanation with proof of his or her involvement in your life. During my time, I used a 3rd party and I know the extent I went to prove that is isn't just a one time thing.

So, I would suggest that your Sponsor send atleast living expenses into your account as sign of commitment, then you submit your SOA as well. But don't hesitate to do a gift deed for the mony sent to you by your sponsor (notarize it)

Please I need help!!!
I want to apply for study visa for my hubby and sowp for me and also apply for visa for my 2 kids
Please help with the steps for registration on the Cic portal and also the link to fill the form.
Also the documents I need to upload
Hello Sandy,

Since your application involves SOWP, you only need to apply using the GCKey. New portal has no room for SOWP, just study and visit visa.

So create account in the GCKey, answer your questionnaire correctly, then all the forms you need will be made available at the end of your questionnaire.

Kindly follow the IRCC website below

People of God please is 1m considered as a lump sum and please what is the dollar rate Canadian visa office use to calculate amount so I can know precisely the amount in the account I will be writing in CAD…please any response
1m can be tagged a lump sum if such account never got such deposits in that past (before) and all of a sudden, million hits the account. But if the account is used to receiving and sending such, then it isn't a lump sum. Nevertheless, do well to explain extensively any large sum deposit in your account with proof of source.

For the IRCC conversion rate, you may have to use oando currency converter. It same with IRCC conversion rate or little above. Is better you calculate with higher conversion rate than with what IRCC uses at the point you want to submit your application. Reason is that by the time IRCC assigns your file to a VO, the rate might change upward and may affect your POF as well.
