Bossman: Been to Mexico on vacation a few times. Basically to Puerto Vallarta and Cozumel. A nice place to vacation BTW. Yes, as mentioned, there are not too many blacks there. The few times we ventured of the resort, we stood out. My daughter had braids in her hair. Some locals wanted to take pictures with her, and others wanted to touch her hair. LOL! Within the touristy areas, they are used to blacks, since a lot of Americans visit those places. Good comment. We expect more, cheers! |

blacklion: There are several hundred Nigerians in Afghanistan currently. Many are serving with the US military or working with private security companies and other service providers/contractors like KBR, DynCorp etc. There are also some Nigerians with the UN and international NGOs. There are also thousands of other Africans there.
Until late 2011 when the US forces finally left Iraq, there were several hundred Nigerians serving with the US military or working for contractors/service providers and international NGOs.
Even now that the US troops have left, there are Nigerians working with the UN or private companies. Iraq has the third largest oil reserves in the world and all the major players are there - Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, Total, Elf etc.
Even in Somalia too, there are Nigerians serving with the UN and international NGOs.
Work can take you anywhere in the world. Yes you are really talking sense. I am very sure of what you are saying. Internation NGOs do send so many volunteers there for a mission. Like Doctor without border, salvation army, Redcross, Transition abroad, cross country project abroad etc. |

Travel › Re: Living In Mexico: What Do Nairalanders Think? by keystone123(m): 7:15am On Jan 17, 2013 |
360command: i do not know much about mexico in reality but i do know much more about mexico virtualy. Now
the thing about mexico; for you going to mexico ,you need to put your mind crossed that were
you are going to is a third world country but you must know that for the fact that you are a
nigerian leaving the shores of nigeria, irrespective of where you are going to, be it
Benin,Camroon,Gabon or sudan, you have that tendency to make it there compared to thier own
citizen who likes to lazy around. Now, let me correct some people here.
Your chances of getting kidnapped in Mexico are slim, unless you are a really rich person
and then you probably have bodyguards.Your chances of having something bad happening to you
in Mexico are slimmer than in the United States. There are certainly more murders in New
Orleans than any comparable Mexican city.NOTE: you should be worried about staying in the
border cities of mexico like Laredo, Cd. Juarez and Tijuana specifically becos of the
violence that happens there.
To those who said studying in mexico is useless, well i have this to say to you , I do
know that when it comes to Countries in the Latin america region and its education , Mexico
is ahead, there are international schools(more of US) in mexico and one can easily apply
for transcript to school in the USA.(i dont think Brazil or argentina's education can be
beter than that of mexico)
Also, its ironical but you better believe it) Americans are willing to come to mexico, but
the mexican immigration are not willing to let them in, so it is vice-versa, about mexicano
who are wanting to die just to see that they enter the USA( the same thing applies to nigerians
who travel by road to go to Spain)The U.S. embassy in Mexico City estimates that there were
more than 600,000 Americans living in Mexico. An estimated 300,000 Canadians live in Mexico,
at least part-time.
the mexican economy is tied up with that of the US economy , so if the US economy is down
that of mexico's economy would go down , if if its smiling thiers would also smile back,
living in mexico, its relatively cheaper than that of US and canada, but there are places
in mexico that is relatively high like Monterrey and mexico city(those are two i know)Cancun
is relatively cheap(OK),environmental friendly, great tourist attractions.
The country is currupt , so as our country(at least our own dan de better) but i would say thiers is woefully currupt ,
becos i cannot imagine a situation were the police would be supportin the gangstas and drug
lords, in thier criminal activity(President Calderón(president of mexico) seems to be serious about cracking down on drug gangs by using the military to rage war against them).
if you know what you are doing, just be yourself, bad guys or no bad guys, nothing de happen , its not you that they are looking for ,
the issue of racial discrimination been black, i really dont know about that, but from the way i look at it, its s.america, there are blacks there , but i know that there are more blacks in brazil compare to mexico,
funny enuf i have friends(lawyers) who can help you with paper work, i hope this words as touch the heart of some people Do you live in mexico? |

Travel › Re: Migrating To Seychelle by keystone123(m): 11:35pm On Jan 10, 2013 |
19naia: its true what was posted above about secureing a specific visa before going to a foriegn country...in my experience traveling and researching visa policies, many countries will allow you in on a specific visa such as visitor or student or worker;but in the event you want to change your status there, you must leave the country and apply any new type of visa outside the country..only extensions for existing visas can be granted in the country and only up to a fixed limit of extendability....seychelles may be different but its better to be prepared under common policies that limit visa switching while still resideing on existing visa.........seychelles is not very expensive compared to south africa or europe and USA...i read a report saying that salaries are low in seychelles when compared to cost of living..the seychelles ruppee is 13ruppes to 1 USdollar and its about 50ruppees to eat out at modest restuarant and about $500 to rent a nice but simple small house...these are stories from foreigners like americans,so maybe the locals there are able to find cheaper living for basic survival.. Well, mr 19naia. I know you have travel far and near. But I am very sure on want I am saying about what I said in my previous post that seychelles is expensive. take a look at how much they charge for their so call work permit or GOP or something. Is on the higher side compare to other countries. Also take a look at being living there for years or married their citizen they will not give that person their citizenship or issue out their citizen to anyone on that regards. Not like other countries.that what make me to say they are have a very strict law. Once again mr 19naia you are welcome on board. You are once comment on my mexico post. I still expect more comment from you. Thanks |

Vixtajic: Thanks.I have a B.sc in marine biology and a certificate in boat driving&repairs.pls kindly help out You have good cerficate. They may need you there but my advice is try and look for job online in seychelles first while in Nigeria before embarking on the journey. According to their immigration rules you must get GOP before you can enter seychelles and take any job. Their law is very strtict and the place is a tourist country very expensive. Therefore it is not advisable to go as a tourist thinking you can convert to work visa. I rest my point. |
