OFFICIAL: Milan Sign Oguchi Onyewu (Goooooooooooooouch)
Milan have completed the shock free transfer signing of Standard Liege centre back Oguchi Onyewu, the Italian giants have announced.
The 27-year-old impressed during the recent Confederations Cup for the United States, but it comes as something of a surprise that the Rossoneri have moved to snap him.
A statement on the club's official website reads:
"AC Milan would like to inform that they have signed Oguchi Onyewu on a permanent basis from Standard Liege.
"The USA international has signed until June 30 2012.".
Onyewu arrives on a Bosman transfer as his contract at Liege had expired. The 6ft 4in stopper possesses a Belgian passport, and so will not take up Milan's final non-EU slot.
The ex-Newcastle United man, formerly of Metz and La Louviere, has won 47 caps for the United States, and is expected to fight it out with Thiago Silva for a place alongside Alessandro Nesta next season.
Barcelona Should Bid For Arsenal's Arshavin - Agent
Andrey Arshavin's troubled time at Arsenal has taken a new twist after his agent openly invited Barcelona to make a bid for the Russian star to join them this summer.
Dennis Lachter chose to invite an offer from the European champions on Catalan radio in a move that is sure to infuriate Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger.
Before moving to the Emirates in January Arshavin made it clear that he wanted to go to Camp Nou and even posed in a Barcelona shirt while still a Zenit player.
Now the United Kingdom's tax hike to a 50 per cent rate for top earners has seen the Russian international's earnings drop and he has become unsettled in north London and could force a move.
"Before anything else, Barcelona should make a formal offer," Lachter told COM Radio.
"Then we can sit down and speak."
The revelation will rock Arsenal's pre-season plans, but it could be the invitation that Barcelona have been waiting for as they strive to bolster the left side of their attack.
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to wear Real Madrid's No.9 shirt, whose previous owner was Javier Saviola. The name on the back of his shirt will not be Ronaldo, as it was at Manchester United, but C. Ronaldo. The reason? Marketing. The 'Ronaldo' shirt belonged to O Fenômeno, and the club want to make sure the fans will buy new shirts instead of just wearing the Brazilian's one.

Felipe Melo Update: La Repubblica Claims Juventus Have Signed Felipe Melo, Agents Deny Negotiations
The agency that looks after the interests of Felipe Melo claim they have spoken to no clubs about the possible sale of their client, while the major daily newspaper La Republicca insists that Juventus have signed the midfielder for €21 million plus Marco Marchionni.
Felipe Melo has permeated the football news today. At midday, Sky Sport Italia claimed that the player’s agents had reached an accord with Juventus, and that Bianconeri officials were to meet their Fiorentina counterparts on Tuesday in order to arrange a transfer fee and close the deal.
This was followed by an official announcement on the Fiorentina website, which stated that the Viola had only received one firm offer from Arsenal, and that they were negotiating a cash-plus-player exchange with The Gunners, that player being Emmanuel Eboue.
In yet another twist, Felipe Melo’s agency, ‘promoesport’, who look after his interests, claim they have held no discussions with any clubs.
"There has been no negotiation between us and any club for Felipe Melo,” said agent Joe Rodriguez Baster.
“If a team is interested in the player, they must first submit an offer to Fiorentina.
“There is much transfer talk about Felipe because in addition to having played a great [Serie A] championship, he also played to great levels in the Confederations Cup. But we are not dealing with, nor have we discussed him with anyone."
However, Baster’s comments contradict a report on the esteemed La Republicca, which claims that Juventus have signed Felipe Melo for €21m plus Marco Marchionni. The agreement was reportedly reached yesterday, although of course there is no official confirmation. Goal.com

Michael Owen Completes Medical As Manchester United Deal Imminent
Michael Owen has completed an intensive three hour medical in central Manchester today, and has emerged smiling from the hospital where it was conducted, giving further credence to reports that he is set to sign for Manchester United this evening.
The player, who became almost as famous for his injuries as his goals during his spell at Newcastle United, was at the Red Devils' training ground at Carrington for two to three hours this morning, before being driven to a central Manchester hospital, where he underwent stringent tests.
With the focus on Owen's fitness, his former team-mate with Liverpool and England, Hull City's Nicky Barmby, thinks that the focus should rather be on the way Owen has returned from injury, and his prowess as a striker.
"You look at the way he's come back from two career threatening injuries. It's been fantastic the way he's come back," Barmby told Sky Sports News.
"He played 30 odd games last year for Newcastle, and if you put chances in front of Michael he will definitely finish them off."
Opinion has been divided amongst both Liverpool and Manchester United fans about the deal, but it looks certain now that the striker will soon be wearing a red shirt again, albeit one with a devil and not a liver bird on it.
