Nearly 90% of all posts about ongoing events in Imo state is on Owerri state capital. Our governors have been building Owerri state capital for decades. Other parts of the state have been left far behind the state capital in terms of infrastructures and government institutions that induce development wherever found.
ABNORMAL people don’t have problems with that.
BUT NORMAL people must raise issues over that and mention other parts of Imo state abandoned.

Unarguably, Owerri had to surpass Umuahia in modern development and urban expansion because governors of Abia state have had Aba and Umuahia to provide with requisite urban development infrastructures.

But as Owerri hosts nearly all development institutions in Imo state, state governors have consistently faced only Owerri for urban development infrastructures. The governors even reduced Orlu and Okigwe to rural status for their convenience and to the satisfaction of the NARROW MINDED @proeasts of Imo state.

@proeast says I want Orlu to be on the level of Owerri, therefore I am onye ara.

What will @proeast lose if Orlu develops like Owerri or even better than Owerri?

The myriad hotels in Owerri spring up because of locating six tertiary education institutions in Imo state in Owerri with young fleshy students for prostitution in the hotels.

If native owners of Owerri didn’t like the prostitution and hotels, they wouldn’t fight all governors of Imo state since 1999 who tried to remove one tertiary education institution from Owerri to Orlu or another place with nothing.

No one walks from Nkwoji market to Orlu in this time and age. Even by bicycle in days long gone it takes the better part of a day to cover the distance. Last i checked, which was about a year before the pandemic, Keke was charging 100 naira. It's roughly a 20 minutes ride but a fast car can go it in 10 or 15.

Walking from the palace of the late Ezeishigbo 1 of Owerri-Nkwoji at Isi-owerri village it will take you no less than that same 30 minutes to get to Umuoma village on the other side of Owerri-Nkewoji. Uuoma is the village behind Dick Tiger memorial Hospital and secondary school. When they ring the bell in that school I hear it sitting down in my home in Umuoma.

Well, good you came down from 30 minutes to 10 to 20 minutes time to drive from Nkworji Market to Orlu old Total Filling station on Amaigbo Road.

But for me, if there are no traffic hold ups, I usually drive the distance in less than 10 minutes.

With the commencement of operations of Onitsha and extension of Onne ports, there would an expansion of commerce and infrastructural development in the East. With this in mind the IMSG should be forward thinking in developing business centres/industrial estates in places like Orlu which is somewhat near Onitsha environs. This is due to the fact that 60%of cargo shipment is headed towards the east.

Orlu, Aba and Umuahia were named industrial hubs of old Imo state by IMSG led by Mbakwe.


Any Imo governor of these days should aspire to increase industry in Orlu area given the proximity of Orlu to Onitsha and Nnewi.

It’s only a compromised assessor who would rate Imo state the best governed state in 2019, shortly after Rochas government built nearly 97% of what it considered as development projects in one patch of the state - Owerri area, but left rot in rest of the state, except his village where he built the other 5%.

A state governor who used federal allocations to his LGAs to build federal government institutions like Police and Prison hdqts in state capital, all now rotting away, while floods damaged roads and houses in Orlu due to uncompleted urban drainage tunnel started by a former governor from now Abia state.

Immediately after Rochas left, the floods in Orlu cut the dual carrier road he built leading to his community.

As for IMO state. I am from Owerri-Nkwoju town. It's a small town located between Amaigbo and Nkwerre LGAs. It's about half an hour from Orlu.
