There are things you can never get outside the instituition of marriage. The kind of care I got from my parents, I am sure I will never get it elsewhere. I have learnt overtime that your blood relations are usually the one that has your best interest at heart, this is why majority of the nuisance in our society today all have one thing in common, and that is a broken home.

As you begin to grow older, you will tend to realise that life has more meaning that material things and random sex you get as a single person, the love of family is one of life greatest blessings and I can testify to these because I come from a lovely home.

There have been times I was emotionally down and felt like giving up everything, and it works like magic the kind of support I got from my family, especially my mum ( women which you criticize so much). Humanity will go extinct in less than two generations if we adopt the single gospel you and your gangs are trying to preach. All kind of civilized mentality we adopted have threatened the family unit and its not too difficult to see the detoriating state of our society but such idealogy is still be perpetuated without rectifying the core cause

The dissolution of a family life is a subtle but deadly crime against humanity and nature. Homes will be destroyed, crime will increase, society will not be safe, lunatics and mentally underdevelop humans will be roaming everywhere and the gravest one will be the extinction of the human race, I am sure this is not what you wish for. Take a look at statistics in US, you will realise that the a huge amount of inmates have family issues, especially in the AA community.

Seems like animals knows better and we should learn from them, they practice the trait of family and continuity of their specie as nature defined, meanwhile humans who considered themselves an intellectual elevated species do not, unfortunately.

This thread is one of the few threads on nairaland that I read from beginning to the end. Nice point OP, but your point are mainly base on the negativity of marriage, its positive size superceed all your points. My own take on the subject is simple. Do whatever rocks your boat. If being single is your thing, or getting married, its a personal choice. But if I am to advise anyone, I must admit that being single gives a more peaceful and happy life.

According to Buddhist Philosophy (a religion I respect so much), attachment is one of the roots of all sufferings for humans. I can’t agree more - If we are to streamline this notion to marriage, then its not far fetched why many married people are miseable but try to feign a happy face. Attachment keeps taking you back to the source of your pain and it incur all manners of inconviniences, changing your life to suit other person lifestyle, lost of privacy and other things that make us personally comfortable, its a kind of a ''respectable slavery'' for men, a life where you have to live for your significant other, a life of servitude and a life of tamed wildness, a life devoid of freedom and making decisions at a snap of fingers, A life most men do not dream of.

But given this age and time, marriages has becomes the exact opposite of its true definition. Giving all things equal, marriage has lost its true value and if you will go into it, be ready for the challenges that comes after.
