They are idiots and are after the money. . . Ask yourself, why the hell will they charge you for the information? #Checkmate! ![]() |
991:Your case is different. They were not against the choice you made. Were they? They were trying to make you choose. You eventually chose your wife and they supported you. OP's case is that she has chosen, they aren't suggesting anyone to her, but because of ethnic and religious reasons, they are saying no. She can skirt around the ethnic issues, but religion is a NO. Don't put religion in the trash bin. I understand your stance on religion because you are not religious, but to religious folks, it matters a lot and plays a crucial part. . . No need bringing upon herself premeditated problems! |
^^^ Sincerely, i get the angle you are coming from. When it comes to marriage, we all should be the chief decision maker. But at that stage of life, marriage is not what we have ventured into. Our parents have always been there to guide us, so why should their guidance in marriage issues not be sought? They are far more experienced than we ever think. While some people have been successful after going against their parents wishes, it's definitely NOT a yardstick to measure the success of another, or asking another to take such weighty step based on that. It's good to listen to parents like you said, they are always there for us. If they feel we are about to make a wrong step, consideration should be given to their concerns. . . She's even fortunate to have parents looking out for her interests. What of those who have none? No one would see a beloved child about to make a mistake, and okays him or her. What if her parents agree her to marrying the guy, but the parents of the guy refuses him marrying her? No matter what we may feel or think, FAMILY plays a role in our decision making. I don't believe they should be sidetracked when it comes to making important decisions such as this. mind you, the op's dilemma is ethnic problems + religious problems. . . |
You don't understand. This girl is just extremely fragile. Her emotions work on some bizarre domino-like order. Little misyarns get her weeping and fighting with me! Yes, I've accepted she's not perfect; and I've found other 'corner-corner' ways to get around her moments. But I just seem to have reached a dead-end with this abortion issue. I don't know how to go about this without getting her hurt; so here I am on the internet looking for 'mgbor'.
Bro, bear in mind that she also has her fears about you(e.g, what if he shoots blanks?). . . but she is willing to let that slide just to be with you. . . ![]() |
seriously dude, wil a guy ALLOW his babe to bear his own punishment? Even if she voluteer. Will you, Sijo, allow your boyfriend bear your own punishment, even if he volunteers? |
^^^ Let's say i'm the OP, and i don't understand your point, how will you make me? That's some statistics you put up on there, supporting not listening to parents. . . |
All the things she's told me about herself have been out of her own free will; because in our relationship, she's the extrovert (while I'm the opposite)Bro, i don't know about you, but i think an extrovert would have told you all about that if she really had such a past. If you care less about her past, why not go all the way? Having an abortion previously doesn't mean she cannot have babies, unless her womb is lost. . . Errm, why don't you just ask? Hard, but then. . . If she's honest like you portray her to be, she'll spill. |
Chei abeg e don do How will you two gang up against Goldieluks this way? She apologized. ![]() |
991:What's the percentage of those that had unsupportive parents and still ended up unsuccessful? You make it sound as if parents are wrong when they decide not to support a child they love so much. . . And that if you have unsupportive parents, damn them, and you will be successful. Clarifications pls. . . |

Happy Anniversary. . . May we all be free of discombobulation as we move forward. May the new NL2 not make Nairaland lose members, cos personally, i'm still a little bit skeptical about it's success. . . All the best |

This list is outrageous, and so not true. But hell, so many forum members are quick to jump into biased conclusions. The reason for this list is down below. A little reading would have allowed us see why this list is so damn long. . . IRAPADA:It would not have been this way "if" he had married her the "right" way. It's an insult to have a baby before marriage in the igbo tradition. Other traditions and cultures may permit it though. . . That said, this list is NOT complete without a Range Rover Sports for the father, and a Toyota RAV4 for the mother. . . ![]() |
