Family / Re: After Being Single For Soo Long, Im Now Scared Of Getting Married. Please Help!! by kinah(f): 6:21am On Jan 24, 2023
EriMma1:
This may sound weird but it's my situation now.

I have been a single and independent lady for a very long time. Though I really looked forward to settling down in my 20s and thirties but because I was the over careful type, I couldn't as I kept being picky due to men's character and behavior.

Fast-forward to my lat 30s, I began to lose interest and started getting more comfortable as a single. The upheavals in today's marriage also got to me. As in the way marriages are packing up, the cheating aspect, abuse and domestic violence in marriages all further affected me and changed my whole perception of the union called marriage. So I unconsciously resolved to remain single as long as I'm happy, comfortable and financially independent.

Some of the reasons I also made up my mind are.
As a single, Im very much at peace, with no one dictating what and when I should do things or get out of bed. I love my bed.
No one is body shaming me when I add on some pounds due to excessive eating and no one is questioning my eating habits as its sometimes the case with some married women. Also running errands when you don't feel up to it just because hubby wants you to do it. Some men can send their wife on errand like crazy and me I hate running errands. angry

No one is disturbing me when I need time alone which could last for hours. I love my space and privacy. So the thought of having to give up all that scares the hell out of me.

Now, back to the matter.

Recently, some close spiritual leaders in my denomination have been trying to match make me with a single pastor and that one too is shining teeth that he has seen a jimjim sister. When they now openly mentioned it yesterday with the said man around and he too was nodding and agreeing to the proposal, it dawned on me that these people are not joking. When I got home, i sank into my comfy space and began to fret. I mean... The thought of giving up all that freedom is just so scary. I suddenly discovered that marriage no longer excites me and my inner self was fighting it.
Also, the thought of carrying pregnancy for nine months with all the stress of looking after babies, tending toddlers ( poo poo) and that motherhood life made me sick instantly. The thought of joggling my job with family life gave me the chills. I see how my married mates struggle with this. Huh. Men...

I don't know. I don't feel cool about this cos it makes me feel like I'm about to be put in a cage and everything about me is going to change.

Now, before you talk about me not loving the man, I think I fancy him and can love him cos he looks so much like my ex of years ago. So that is out of the question. He is a happening lovable man but....... I no longer feel excited about marriage. at least, from what played out yesterday.

Do I need any form of therapy cos my family won't hear of it this is my situation now ooo... Hmmm

We are all there at one time or the other.
It is the grace of God that kept us.
I can believe I can do it and still doing it.

All I will say is
See a therapist (God will help you choose the one )
Always ask for GRACE

You gat me laughing out. But there should be frozen fish store there.

They sell at olomore
But they are not fresh, they are preserved with ice.

The frozen food stores/cold rooms sell only croaker and fish in demand. Other assorted are sold on request.

You can't compare the fresh taste to the preserved ones.

DIY herbs and spices don't need any gadgets. We have sun and harmattan that nature has generously given us.
As a matter of fact, all these herbs and spices we buy are sun dried in countries that have less sunlight like Nigeria.

If we can sundry crayfish, why can't we sun dry other things. It is not a post to show who lives wherever( never cared for such anyway from my posts history) but a post that shows we have so much yet we lack everything and is among the poorest country in this world. We should be retrospective.

We are so quick to pick faults instead of look at some posts as challenging. My posts here these days are thrown out for people who like challenge like me and is curious, inquisitive and have innovative mind.

Nigeria is really blessed , take it from me. And we are still organic. We don’t know what we have.

Hey bro, I am not picking fault neither am I giving excuses. NO BE FIGHT.

Insinuating it is not for shallow mind people. OGA YOUR OPINION O

I disagree with some of your points here but won't discuss it. cool

Situations or circumstances, environment, privileges are determinant of how one reasons and talk.
To the glory of God, I now know that eat well and healthy is not that expensive. I can source for spices I can AFFORD at my convenience, and cheap rate.

I will get there o bro.

Oga mape padi e lole.

I tire for my country.
I posted a video here of what somebody did with cassava. We have so much. Trust me, we are really blessed. But nothing to show for it.

Cashew nut goes to waste. Mango(jam), banana, we can't even make avocado oil, name them.
Is it flowers for exportation?
Or original sugar cane sugar. Honey nkò?
We have loads of plantain but I have never seen plantain from Nigeria here. What about tomatoes like chopped, paste, or full tomatoe in cans. We can't even grind and package shombo( our diff types of pepper) in powder and export. Even dry pepper seeds na market. Habenero and scotch bonnet are very expensive here. They waste in Nigeria. The first pounded yam flour I ate years ago in my village was made in USA. Lol. What an irony. Fufu, at its cooking stage is packaged and sold to people. Yep, fermented cassava. Buy and cook and pound.
Have forgotten the country that exports it but not my precious Nigeria. Or is it ewedu. All the way from Egypt and some north African countries. We will rather come here to insult those eating fufu and ewedu instead of looking for ways to make millions from fufu and ewedu. What about sea food from South south? No Nigerian medicinal veggie is known outside Nigeria. None. Who will promote them? We are too posh for that
We always think of instant gratification instead of future.

Make quik money, build house and buy cars to pepper them.

Sir it is not that we can't do all these.
Starting from individual homes
I love to do my things myself: home cooking,. DIY spices et Al

The gadgets are expensive.
Processing is time
We are all running after our day to day activities to earn a living.
It is easy to say because of where you are.
I covet what most display here. Esp akposy, cococandy,Preston and you.
But it is either I can't access some ingredients or I can't afford it

2RUTHHURTS:
cool OP I was also experiencing such not until I ask my self " why is it that when I eat Akara and moimoi I don't experience such?" The answer was that when preparing Akara and moimoi, the beans coat is peeled off after being soaked in water So I started doing same to beans before cooking and the problem was off. The truth is, it's the beans coat that is responsible for the flatulence, take it off and you would enjoy eating beans.

But do you know the skin is rich in fibre?

Why not soak it for a while or parboil it?
Also ensure that you know the species of beans you buy. Original oloyin is better if you can get from a trusted source.

Eat it with garri lebu.
This tips should help.

Does that mean that they haven't be able to capitalised on her proximity to lagos state to boast the economy of the state?

They are.

The relationship between lagos and Ogun state is fair.
Reasons are there are a lot of factories in Ogun state, borders close to Ogun state esp ABEOKUTA are like 2 or 3. Some produce like food, fruits etc are from here. People prefer Lagos to Ogun state because of fun, varieties of goods, job opportunities and many more. Lagos is overpopulated. Ogun state(ABEOKUTA) is now a small Lagos. Cost of living is now high.

It’s no secret that the stress level of Lagos is very high.
However, of what use is Abeokuta’s less chaotic atmosphere if it doesn’t put money in one’s pocket?
The bitter truth is that there are no jobs in Abeokuta.
Except if one decides to settle for petty business. But even that itself doesn’t do so well because of the fact that the residents of the city have very low purchasing power.
So where does that leave us? Just increased poverty and hopelessness.
The question again is; of what use is the calmness and serenity if it doesn’t put money in the pockets.
Though it needs to be said that those that work in private sector and are paid the same wage and salaries with those in Lagos are the ones truly enjoying Abeokuta.

True
ABEOKUTA is a civil servant state.
If they don't collect salary, market is dull. Immediately they collect salary , market/banks go dey bubble. ABEOKUTA is far better than sagamu and ijebu ode.

Yeah
For someone born in Lagos too.
I do come to visit oga back then, I spend a week or more.it was refreshing.
Na marriage brought me to ABK. So after staying for few months at a go. It became very verrrry boring.
But for someone who has gone thru the hustling and bustling of Lagos. So I learn to spice up my life, home and marriage.
I miss my friends and the fun sometimes but I can't deal abeg. I can't spend a night in Lagos again.
There are various opportunity and businesses in ABK.
