Politics › Re: Abia State Is Now The Least Revenue Generating State In The South by Kinematics: 2:44pm On Nov 09, 2021 |
DOTian: Tax collection is a factor that comes with a given government tax policy! People should be mindful of this fact. Some states or countries believe in tax and spend. Others allow capitalists within their enclaves to hold more funds in order to plough such back into their businesses and grow more wealth and employment. People need to understand this.
Abia state, Anambra state and Rivers States, are some of the most viable states in the East without oil revenue. So if the state governments decide to place less emphasis on stringent tax collection, one should ask about the motives behind such policy. Rather than running along with the narrative that Abia state is not viable. Aba alone generates more income for businesses than half of southern states.. Rivers State is not in the east. Be careful..

DOTian: Tinubu boy, If you go to other developing countries like China, Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand, revenues earned from more affluent states/provinces are used to help poorer regions/provinces get on their feet. The Chinese government invested heavily in building up the infastructure of such provinces as Shanghai, Guangdong, shangdong, Zhejiang etc. Theses are mostly coastal provinces. Most physical tradings happen here but most of the products sold in these places are fabricated in the hinterland provinces. This way, the coastal provinces are helping to pay back for the "lopsided" investments in their infastructure by becoming the marketers of the products of the other provinces thereby helping to redistribute wealth. But in Nigeria it's different! Lagos drags everything with everyone after so many decades of federal government ceaseless investments! That's is pure Evil and must stop! The highlited says it all ....

You are a LIAR Never a claim. I quoted someone that brought his yorubanza and mentioned Rivers. Your yorubanza self couldn't allow you, but to put mouth into the matter. aribisala0: [s]We are not here to talk about rivers state If you want to do that then create a thread for that I no not know what you mean by PPP stuff I am sure you read that in a newspaper and have no clue what it means. Does that mean the government does not contribute or does not invest? That is nonsense. The FG is a major shareholder in LNG and LNG has been building roads and bridges in Rivers state and getting tax credits for that .Not in Lagos state You said the refinery is "DEAD" Are there no "DEAD" FG investments or projects in Lagos? What happened to the Federal Secretariat, National Stadium, National theatre? Even the roads out of Tin Can and Apapa Is Onne Port dead Is LNG dead?
Are those not FG investments
What is Adam power station? You are contradicting yourself Did Transcorp BUILD Afam power station? No. They bought it from the FG Afam power station was a federal government investment that has been expanded over several phases with SPDC money as well as FG money and so it is a FG investment
Here you are saying I do not know what I am saying when you are TOTALLY clueless. SPDC operates a Joint venture with the NNPC for every 40 kobo spent by Shell NNPC spent 60 kobo
That was the arrangement in the 80s and 90s when Afam was commisioned
The FG is within its rights to sell its investments and has done so in Lagos State too . Dangote has benefitted from sale of Port assets so there is nothing new there
Once again we are not here to discuss rivers state[/s] You brought Rivers into the matter. So I'm here to clear your ignorance. Dotty collective effort. |

aribisala0: [s]What has this thread got to do with Rivers state? LNG Onne Port Port Harcourt Port are not investments? PH refinery Afam power Plant is not investment?
What investment has Lagos had from the FG?[/s] LNG is a PPP stuff mainly SPDC not FG If FG truly cares about the Ports in PH they'll make it as viable as the crude loading points in Rivers, You mean dead refinery? Afam Power Station belongs to Transcorp. They own Afam power station not FG.
I can see you don't even have a clue on what you are writing.
You are asking what investments FG got in Lagos? I can see you are a neophyte.Go and look at Nigeria's budget since 1960 till date and tell me which state gets the highest investment by the FG. |

Take like an adult that is not starved of oxygen.
The colonialists made that decision
Why not ask them to come and recolonize you?
Lagos Port was making more money before independence than some states do today https://www.nairaland.com/4144976/lagos-1898before-nigeria-not-oil#61876649 Lagos is blessed with a great coast and accessibility which Rivers state does not have At least the colonialist did not think so .
Your comment is like an ugly women complaining that the rich men only toast beautiful women.
How is that the beautiful woman's business
If Rivers state was that blessed , that glorious a tiny part would have been made capital
But it was not even capital of the old Eastern region[/s] Rivers has never been a Capital, neither has it even been centre of any FG investment, yet it keeps waxing strong and competing with places that has been capital and has received FG investments more than any other place. |

There is a huge difference between
Lagos city and Lagos State Kano city and Kano State Enugu City and Enugu State Ondo State and Ondo Town Ditto for
Bauchi Sokoto Kaduna Ondo Oyo
Only a tiny part of the state was the FCT not the whole state Make a tiny part of Rivers capital as well for a minimum of 30yrs, then let's talk after then. |

The most embarrassing part is that it only happens in Nigerian airport, of all the airports I’ve been. I did not experience it in Casablanca airport in Africa.
At every point, they will tell you to drop something I was also thinking it only happens in Nigeria until I flew through Douala, Cameroon. Same shit that goes on in MMIA happens there as well. |

I do not think he will be 100% involved this time around by his mindset in doing such again considering the way the Fulani central government in Abuja is raiding the home of the Justice Odili.
The same fulani government is fighting Rivers state and Lagos state over their Vat earning.
Rivers state will only protect its assets but anything police that is federal government wahala.
IPOB have studied the strained relationship between Rivers state government and the Federal government in Abuja headed by the fulani.
They just exploit the weak diplomatic relation and use it to strike.[/s]
